Athena’s POV

I woke up in Travis’s arms. His chest was warm and his arms were tight around me, like he never wanted to let go. The room smelled like him. I could hear the birds outside and everything felt like a dream.

I blinked slowly, not wanting to move. I didn’t want to break the peace of that moment.

Was it real? I still asked myself that every minute.

Was Travis really my mate? Was I really sleeping in the Alpha’s quarters? Everything had changed so fast.

“Hey, babe,” Travis’s deep voice broke the silence. I turned my head to look at him. His dark eyes were soft as he brushed a strand of hair from my face.

“I’m going for patrol,” he said gently. I nodded, still sleepy. “Okay,” I whispered.

He leaned down and kissed my forehead, then got up. I watched him put on his patrol clothes and leave the room. The door closed quietly behind him.

I stayed in bed for a while longer, listening to the quiet house. Around eight, I got up and splashed water on my face.
