Elodie's POV

My eyes peeled open, and I found myself in the woods, lying on damp leaves. The sky was pitch-black, stripped of even a single star.

What? Didn’t I fail my escape? Why was I back in the same woods?

My white nightgown was torn and stained with dirt.

Before I could sit up, a shadow loomed over me. I didn't need to be told who it was.

Valiente.

He stood above me, hands buried in his pockets, staring down at me with those dark, unreadable eyes.

“Going somewhere, Little Red?”

Elodie's POV My eyes peeled open, and I found myself in the woods, lying on damp leaves. The sky was pitch-black, stripped of even a single star. What? Didn’t I fail my escape? Why was I back in the same woods? My white nightgown was torn and stained with dirt. Before I could sit up, a shadow loomed over me. I didn't need to be told who it was.Valiente.He stood above me, hands buried in his pockets, staring down at me with those dark, unreadable eyes.“Going somewhere, Little Red?”My heart lurched. I scrambled backward, but before I could move another inch, he was on me.His weight pinned me to the ground. My breath caught as his hand covered my mouth, swallowing every scream trying to escape.I looked down, and my body froze instantly. My nightgown was gone. Heat rushed to my face, panic clawed at my chest as I saw I was stark naked. His fingers brushed over my skin, unhurried, making my body betray me in ways I couldn’t understand.I wanted to fight. I couldn’t.My lips parted

Valiente’s POVSitting across from Cassiano and Alaric, my eyes remained shut, fingers tapping gently on the armrest. Their voices drifted in and out of my head.Something about the ship, my men, and illegal activities.I should have been listening. But I wasn’t.My fingers slowly rose to my mouth. I brushed my thumb over my lower lip slowly. The memory of Little Red's rosy lips came back immediately. The way she’d looked at me, screamed, and how she’d fought me until the very last second. Then how she'd stopped, for that brief moment, she hadn’t pushed me away. That was her mistake.I frowned and opened my eyes, staring at nothing. What the hell had that been? I’d kissed women before. More times than I cared to remember. None of them had ever left me thinking about their lips minutes later. But Little Red…My jaw tightened. I adjusted in my seat. She had been trying to escape me one second, and the next, I had her against a tree with my mouth on hers. And I’d liked it. More than I s

Elodie's POV Another low moan came out of me when I felt his cold hand on my stomach. My eyes quickly snapped open. As if realizing it, I forcefully pushed harder against his chest. Finally, his lips broke away from mine. I sucked in a deep breath, my chest rising and falling rapidly. My eyes were wide. My emotions were mixed—shocked, embarrassed... aroused? He didn’t move and neither did I. His dark, unreadable eyes remained fixed on mine. I stared back, too stunned to speak. My lips were burning. I hated that I could still feel his mouth on mine, like they never left. His thumb brushed slowly across my lower lip, and my breath caught. His eyes followed the movement.“Still think I’m a monster?” He asked, his voice low and deep, almost a growl. My stomach twisted. Of course he's still a monster. One stupid kiss couldn't change that.If he thought a simple kiss would make me change my view about him, then he's got another thing coming. But I didn't answer. I was still trying to catch

  • Craving His Captive: The Cartel Heir's Obsession (Book 1)   Chapter 37: Freedom Is A Myth

Elodie's POV The word ‘freedom’ sounded like a myth.Freedom had to be a myth.Freedom… was a myth.'You’ll get to understand why they call me El Cuervo...'I didn’t understand what Valiente meant until now, when his cold, angry hands were wrapped tightly around my throat for the second time that night, squeezing the air from my lungs. The world seemed to stop.He shoved me backward and slammed me against a tree. I whimpered loudly, my teeth clenched as I fought. Or at least I tried to fight. He was stronger.I managed to look at him, catching the expression on his face. I froze for a second.“You really thought you could run from me?” he asked, his voice resembling that of the devil. His eyes were void of any light. He didn't belong to this world."Go to hell, you bastard!" I shot, driving the knife towards his face again. This time, he caught it in one swift move. He twisted my fingers painfully, and a piercing shriek tore out of me.The knife fell lazily to the ground. "I told y

Elodie's POV "But…” he spoke again, making my thoughts pause. His voice hardened. “You don’t leave my side.”I nodded too quickly. “I won’t.”“If you run…” He leaned down until we were eye level. “…I’ll catch you.” They say when someone has been trapped for too long and finally sees freedom within reach, they become reckless. Maybe that was what was happening to me. Because despite the warning in his voice, a tiny spark of hope had already begun to grow inside me.A cold shiver crawled up my spine, but I pushed it down.“And this time,” he whispered, “I won’t be nearly as forgiving.”I swallowed hard and nodded again. “I understand.”But I didn’t. Or maybe I did, and that was exactly what made what I was about to do so reckless. The moment the thought of running formed in my head this morning, my heart hasn't stopped pounding.I knew the risk. I knew what would happen if he caught me.But after everything I’d been through, I couldn’t spend another night inside that mansion. Not whe

Elodie's POV My eyes shot up from the knife to meet Valiente’s steady gaze. I gulped. Had he seen me staring at the knife?“Nothing,” I replied calmly, holding his gaze. His eyes were darker than they had been this morning. More piercing. It could’ve been the dimly lit room.He slowly nodded, as though he wasn’t fully convinced, but he didn’t dwell on it.He summoned for the food to be served. Within five minutes, the table was overflowing with dishes—medium-rare steak, grilled salmon, creamy truffle pasta, garlic butter shrimp, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, fresh bread, and colorful salads. There were bowls of fruit, rich soups, and desserts waiting on a separate trolley. It looked less like dinner and more like a feast prepared for royalty. Was this a feast? He’s probably expecting a guest. Could it be his stepmother, Marisela? But he hadn’t said anything about expecting a visitor.I didn’t care to ask. My nerves were through the roof, my hands trembling on my thighs, my hea
