Chapter Sixteen

The paramedics arrived thirty minutes later. By then aunt Courtney’s pulse was almost undetectable. We were all taken by them and rushed to the hospital while the police were still scrutinizing the scene. The following events were a blur. The doctors were poking me with needles, asking me questions and saying things that I couldn’t comprehend because of my mind being too flooded with thoughts. They removed my clothes and that was when I finally saw the deep cut on my side. It was probably caused by a piece of glass when the car was summersaulting.

“Miss, we need you to lay on your side so we could…” I just nodded and did as I was told. Everything she said next, I was not paying attention.
