Chapter 10: My Heart Aches for You

After a short rest, Yvonne Harrington and her aunt tidied up the living room together. The little one had also played enough, and Yvonne Harrington was about to take the child for a bath. Usually, she could handle both of them by herself, but today, Qiaoduo was especially excited and kept pleading to stay up and play more.

"Little sister, if you don't listen, Mom won't hold you to sleep tonight!"

Yvonne Harrington said this with feigned anger. As expected, upon hearing this, Qiaoduo's big eyes immediately filled with tears, and her mouth quivered, ready to cry at any moment.

"Come here, let Auntie give you a nice bath, okay?"

Nicole Rudolph quickly scooped Qiaoduo into her arms from behind, pinching the rosy little cheeks. Both children were adorable, their tiny features perfect, it was hard to tell who they took after.

Before long, Nicole Rudolph had managed to bathe both children. Yvonne Harrington watched in admiration, praising her, "Aunt, you're so amazing!"

"You should go take a shower too!"

As she spoke, Nicole Rudolph pushed Yvonne Harrington towards the bathroom. After she finished, the two little ones skipped into the bedroom, climbing onto the bed and jumping around joyfully. The scene was chaotic, and after playing with them for half an hour, Yvonne Harrington was exhausted.

Taking care of children is really tiring...

In the end, Nicole Rudolph brought in two glasses of milk, and only after drinking them did the children show signs of drowsiness, falling asleep as soon as they hit the bed. The moonlight quietly filtered through the window, and Yvonne Harrington held the two cute babies in her arms, gently smoothing the covers. Making sure the babies wouldn't wake up, she quietly slipped out of the room, carefully closing the door. Sure enough, Nicole Rudolph was sitting outside.

"Yunchu, has something happened?"

Nicole Rudolph asked, recalling Yvonne Harrington's unusual behavior during the day. She felt it was best to ask carefully. Yvonne Harrington sighed, looking lost as she sat down next to her aunt.

"I was kicked out of the Qiao family. I went there today to get back my mother's belongings, but instead, I was humiliated."

Her dejected expression was heartbreaking. Seeing her distressed look, Nicole Rudolph felt a pang of sympathy. From a young age, Nicole Rudolph knew that Yvonne Harrington was a strong girl; nothing could break her spirit unless it involved her mother.

"Don't be too upset. Another day, I'll go with you to get your things."

Nicole Rudolph was indignant, thinking of how the Qiao family had treated them in the past, she felt a surge of anger.

"Aunt, all I want now is to live peacefully with the children. If the Qiao family finds out I have children, my happiness will be taken away again!"

Yvonne Harrington looked up, tears welling in her eyes.

"Silly child, as long as we don't say anything, no one will know. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret. If anyone asks, I'll say I'm helping my son take care of his grandchildren!"

Nicole Rudolph understood Yvonne Harrington's thoughts and was well aware of the Qiao family's methods.

"Aunt... thank you!"

Yvonne Harrington was already sobbing. Nicole Rudolph patted her back, and her emotions gradually calmed down.

After a while, Nicole Rudolph suddenly remembered something and asked hesitantly, "Do you know who the father of the children is?"

"Everything happened so fast back then. Four years have passed, and I don't intend to pursue it anymore."

Yvonne Harrington shook her head. The man she saw last time bore a striking resemblance to her baby, but her impression of him was disgustingly negative. She had wanted to ask, but the ridiculous thought was quickly dismissed. She didn't want to humiliate herself again.

"Okay, don't think about it too much. You still have me by your side."

Seeing her like this, Nicole Rudolph felt she had said too much and gave up on the idea of making her find the father. Perhaps, such a simple life was the most precious. Nicole Rudolph and Yvonne Harrington chatted late into the night. When she finally lay down again, it was already 1 AM. Thinking about what she needed to do the next day, she forced herself to sleep.

The next morning, when the first light of dawn crept in through the window, the alarm clock rang, and Yvonne Harrington bolted upright, instantly awake. Shaking off her fatigue, she quickly got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to freshen up.

"Are you taking the children to kindergarten today?"

"Yes, I've already chosen one abroad. I'll take them there today to have a look."

"Come out for breakfast once you're ready."

Nicole Rudolph, wearing an apron, sat on the sofa outside. She was used to getting up early and had already prepared breakfast, casually browsing her phone. Yvonne Harrington agreed, quickly getting herself ready before heading back to the bedroom to wake the children.
