THORNE'S POV

I escorted Lyra to her room after dinner mainly because I wanted to make sure there was no certain demon lurking behind the curtains in her room.

I opened the door, Lyra walked in and I walked in with her. She suddenly turned around, a frown plastered across her face.

"What are you doing?" She asked giving me a suspicious glare.

"I just want to check if this room is safe, you know, if it's free of Duncan." I explained.

"Oh." Lyra looked frantically around the room, behind the door, the curtains, everywhere, then she looked up.

"He is not here, he is not anywhere, now off you go." She said pushing me out the doorway.

"Why does it look like you're forcing me out?" I asked bringing myself to halt, despite that she wouldn't stop beating on my shoulders to get me out of her room.

"Because that's exactly what I'm doing." She replied sarcastically.

"What I am asking is why you're doing that." I folded up my arms, staring at her intently.
