Two.

April's POV

Work is never-ending, and if you so much as take a break, you'll meet more problems waiting for you to solve. This should be added into the wise saying book, if such a thing exists, cause, why not.

I stared at all the paperwork in front of me, wishing that they'll all just vanish away when Zerah, my assistant stepped into my office. I am certain that there is an aura of excitement bubbling all around him.

"You look stressed April, but I believe I have just the news to make your mode lighten up". He announces, smiling.

I peer up at him, still worried out of my mind but a bit optimistic. Finally, something should turn outright today. Everything has been so hard lately and I just couldn't catch a break.

He drops two invitations on my desk and I look at them. I am indeed surprised. I want to jump out of my seat and make fist bumps into the air, but I don't, at least not when Zerah is still standing in my office.

"You found Adam kings?" I ask unbelievably "that man is like a ghost," I let out feeling excited as I take up the invites. I want to kiss the invites in my hands and crush them in a hug, but that would be too weird and unprofessional.

" Yep. He's throwing a party for his daughter and it's for a week. That should give us enough time to convince him to invest in our company. I'm thinking it's even too much time". He says confidently and I can't help but agree with him.

" You're a genius Zerah. You know how to lighten my mood" I admit with a smile tugging on my lips. I go into the boss mode, not minding that I had been whining about too much work earlier. "I want you to take care of all arrangements. Get expensive gifts for all his immediate family if you have to. We have to make a good impression".

" You don't have to worry about that. I'm already on it". He affirms then looked suddenly apprehensive. " Who will you be going with? "

" You of course. You're like the only one I can rely on and well I recalled you always wanted to visit Paris. What do you know, your wish is coming true" I announce and Zerah gives me a charming smile.

" Great. I'll go work on booking our flight and making sure you have the best time on this trip" he makes to go but still keeps looking at me. I raise my eyebrows in query. He just smiles nervously.

" You can go now. I have tons of work to do and I don't have any more orders for you" I point at my desk and he nodded and walked out.

I sighed. I don't know what's up with Zerah. He was always staring at me like he wanted to memorize my face. It was as if I was going to fade away if he didn't look at me hard enough. I don't like it at all. He was a very good-looking guy with a lean athletic build that made him seem like a model, and his wavy blonde that fell over the side of his face was so stylish, I wanted to mess it up at times, but I don't. Wouldn't want to encourage whatever he had going on. His eyes were a beautiful brown that always put me at ease. That's how he got this job anyway. Because if I ever felt apprehensive around anyone, they needed to go.

I decide to forget about it. The most important thing for me to do now is to formulate a plan on how to make Adam kings partner with me because let's face it, my company needs some cash inflow right now. My phone rings and it's Katherine again. She just never learns to give up. I let it ring out because I don't want to be bothered with her.

The day passes quickly and I stepped on it to catch up with all my appointments and meetings. I have to clear everything up before going away for a week. I craved a break from work because I don't remember the last time I had went on a vacation or even just decided to stay home.

Zerah was efficient with handling everything about the trip, and that made it easier for me to make new plans for my fashion company. The fashion show I was planning needed a lot of investment, but I was sure the return would be worth everything. We all have to take certain risks In life.

AIRPORT.

Zerah took care of every little detail and I couldn't be more thankful. He even shopped for most of my outfits. He does everything I don't bother, or forget to do. He is so efficient that it's making my life easier.  We're going to board when a person bumps into me and I lose my balance from the impact. What the hell!. Are his shoulders made of rocks or what. I instinctively grabbed at his jacket to steady myself, then looked up at him, my eyes widening a fraction.

I only had the breath for one word. Beautiful.

His eyes fastened on mine and they were a set of intriguing eyes. They were like the ocean during a storm, a very turbulent raging storm. His face was perfect and he had long black with strips of light brown hair which was parked up in a bun. His lashes were so thick and black, it had me captivated, and then there was his lip. One look and all I thought about was how it would feel against mine. How it would feel trailing a burning path along my skin.

Zerah yanks me back and I break out of my reverie, bewildered at myself. I never lose myself starring at a guy no matter how hot or intriguing he was. This was out of character for me.

He was gazing at me with a frown like I was the one that crashed into him and not the other way round. Maybe there might be confusion in his expression too, but I have never been known to tolerate rudeness.

"Won't you apologize?" I demand when I eventually found my voice.

"Apologize for what specifically?". He scoffs "You stood in my path for a reason right?. I don't think you should go to that extent just to get me to notice you because let's face the truth doll, It doesn't suit you," he says with a sneer, and I don't know what came about next because my hand just left my side and then it was whacking across his cheek, making a sharp ringing sound that caught some people's attention. He looks stunned. I was horrified over my actions too, but I was more mad than stunned, so I continue, mostly because once I start raging, I need to let it all out to feel better.

"I think you should shove that massive ego of yours up your ass and learn how to apologize the next time you decide not to watch where you are going!. Let's go Zerah!" I huff and stepped past him irritated. He just ruined my whole trip. Imagine that, me trying to get his attention? Hah, he must be out of his mind. Zerah follows me without a word. We soon boarded, the plane taking off, but no matter how hard I try to forget the guy's face, it wouldn't leave my mind. Zerah attempts to make conversation, but I am not in the mood to speak with anyone. I pull out my laptop and start to work so I can get my mind off things, especially the rude guy. I hope I never encounter him again because even tho I had been furious and even hit him across the face, I had been enthralled by him first and foremost and that was something all by itself. I had a feeling he could break me. He could make me bow to him. He could break all my resolve and then I will find myself in the same shackles that I didn't want to get entangled In, in the first place. The concept, called love, that I war against so much. I won't allow it to happen to me.

Enrique stood there still in shock as his hand stroked at his cheek where her palm had struck. It stung. Everything that happened was shocking, not just because of the slap but also his sudden arousal. He was never one to get so turned on just at the first sight of a woman. They had to work hard for his interest, especially after... He stops himself from going down that memory lane immediately.

Yet this woman had all his full attention from the first eye contact. She had emerald green eyes that pulled him into their depths, holding him captive.  They were so beautiful but guarded. Her eyebrows were beautifully arched and her nose fitted perfectly in her face. Then there were her lips. Plump and rosy, and all he could think about when she spoke was how to keep her quiet with his lip.

She didn't seem to be affected by his good looks like all the other women always were, which was odd. Most of them were staring at him seductively even now.

He finally noticed Jasmine fussing at his side and looking deathly pale. It seemed she couldn't decide whether to put her hands on him or not.

"Sir Enrique. Am so sorry about this" she whimpered in a small voice like she was the one who had hit him, and not someone else.

" It's fine. Let's go or we'll be late" he said gruffly and they both proceeded towards their board compartment.

The flight went smoothly and they soon arrived in Paris and drove straight to the hotel where the party was being held. It was enormous and he knew a lot of money had been used for the preparation. If one considered all the luxury the place offered, it was a great investment. Affluent people only wanted the best of everything and this hotel offered that and more.

They were escorted in and their invitation was taken and confirmed before an escort led them to their different suite. The whole hotel was elegant and it had been booked for just the party. He could see the security details put in place and he was impressed. He entered his room which was decorated to his taste. Everything was perfect and yet he felt restless.

He told himself to forget about the beautiful mysterious woman who could make him crave her just by a glance, and an action. He shook his head in disbelief. He came here for a purpose and he wasn't going to let anyone distract him.
