Three

The suite was expensive-looking. April sat on the soft four-poster bed, as she tried her best to focus on work before she prepared for the evening party.

She was going to dazzle everyone, and command attention like she always had done. A confident woman was sure to get the deal.

April woke up with a start as she heard the knock on her door. She guessed she must have been really tired to just fall asleep while working. At least she had managed to forget the handsome hunk from earlier. Well, maybe she didn't since she was mentioning him again.

She walked up to the door as her head cleared. She needed her coffee. She unlocked the door and it was Zerah. He was all dressed up and he looked handsome. She had never seen him in a suit.

"Wow," she gaped " you're taking the stealing the show tactics a tad too far, don't you think" she joked and he laughed.

" Well since am your escort, I wouldn't want to look like a farmer next to a queen" he mumbled lowly like he was shy to look her in the face.

" Well, you certainly outdid yourself. You look good" she said smiling at him. He looked like he won a lottery and then finally met her eyes.

" A compliment from the boss. Wasn't expecting that" he said then looked her over like he wanted to memorize every outline of her." The party already started, you're not dressed yet" he stated worriedly.

" Don't worry. I'll get ready. Just go down without me. " She said and made to close the door but he stopped her, looking nervous.

" I can help you choose a dress," he says hopefully, gulping.

April smiled and shook her head.

" You don't have to do that. I always choose the best. Just go on without me" she said and didn't wait for his response when she closed the door.

Zerah sighed as he sagged against the door and willed his heart to stop beating too fast. At least she had complimented him, after looking at him. It was the first time she took notice of him. He had wanted her for so long but she was always working, was difficult in the love area, and was never available for dates-except those set up by Katherine. It suited him if she didn't fall in love with anyone else. He wanted to be the only man she had in her life. That was enough. For now. He walked down the hall toward the party floor.

Enrique walked around meeting businessmen, women, and making acquaintances. He always knew how to Charm people, especially the women. It was way too easy to charm their pants off. Everyone wanted him anyway.

An elegant woman walked in. She was wearing a slivery gown with diamonds decorating the top where her cleavage was up for view. She had her focus on him, and she was soon standing in front of him smiling seductively.

"If it isn't Enrique Alvaro" she purred with a French accent. " You're quite famous in the business world, also with women," she said coyly as she eyed him from head to toe and found him not lacking at all.

"I don't think we've been introduced. I don't know who you are"

" That's my father's fault. He's always keeping me away from the spotlight because he thinks am a nuisance" she says playfully. " Am Amor kings. The only daughter of Adam kings" she introduces proudly.

" I must say, it's a pleasure to meet you" he took her hand kissing it, and watched as her eyes fluttered close, her breathing becoming heavy. Suddenly, thoughts of the woman from earlier came into his mind, of how he wanted her to react to him. He wanted to unravel her. He Wanted her to quiver in his arms.

Amor leaned in closer. Her hand played with the lapel of his suit.

"I'll introduce you to father. I think he will like to meet you" she whispered close to his ear. He nodded and she gave him a dazzling smile and led him towards the famous, yet elusive Adam kings.

Adam smiled at Amor as she approached with him by her side.

"Father. This is Enrique Alvaro. He's in the precious stones and fashion business. His jewelry and textile are just amazing father" she gushed, and Enrique was surprised she knew him that much. Must have done her investigation and found out what she needed to know to catch his attention.

"Of course darling. Hello Enrique" they both shook hands. " You're a formidable opponent in the business industry now you know. You have all the best goods".

" Not at all, Adam. We both know you're in the lead here, and well I could always become a worthy opponent if given the right push" he said and Adam patted his shoulder.

" That's the right attitude son. You'll go far. I know that for a fact and...." He was saying when he felt that the room had grown quieter. They all turned to see what had brought about the sudden quiet.

Enrique couldn't believe his eyes but he would recognize those enchanting green eyes anywhere. She was elegant.

She carried herself with such grace she commanded attention.

The red dress she wore was simple. She paired it up with sophisticated, yet simple jewelry. Her gown was split up to the mid-thigh, showing off flawless smooth skin. She looked like a goddess.

Adams walked towards her meeting her at the end of the stairs.

April smiled enjoying the attention given to her. Everyone had started getting back to what they were doing before she had arrived but she didn't mind, the real attention she wanted was standing in front of her. Mr. Adams.

"April Sanders!!" He gasped in awe. "You've grown up to be such a beautiful woman" he admired surprising her that he knew her.

" You know me," she asked.

"Sanders was a good friend. We did business together and he was a great help, but then he quit everything. I heard you were running his company. He must be so proud. You do not only have brains but beauty" he enthused.

" Well am happy to know this sir Adams. It has been a little rough after he died" she said and he nodded.

" I understand. I couldn't be there at the funeral and I regret that he is dead." he sympathized, his hands rubbing at her shoulder. " Come I'll introduce you to my daughter, and my son," he said taking her hand and leading her toward a woman wearing a silver dress and a man.

April's heart skipped a beat as she saw the intense look on his face as he stared at her. She suddenly felt hot. She tried to avoid his eyes but then she felt as if they were caressing all over her body. Another guy joined the lady and he practically undressed her with his eyes. She was disgusted. She wondered why she didn't feel the same way about how the other man stared at her.

" April, this is Amor my pretty daughter, and Brian my son. And this is Enrique Alvaro." He introduced and April shook hands with them saving Enrique for last.

But Brian didn't let go of her hand.

"You're the most beautiful woman in this gathering tonight and I won't be a gentleman if I didn't let you know" he drew her hand to his lips, kissing it. April forced a smile.

" Well am flattered Brian" she removed her hand from his coyly and didn't bother shaking Enrique since he wasn't holding his hand out.

"Amor I hope you loved the gift I got you," she asked. She had the vibe that Amor didn't like her. She couldn't be bothered since she had no business with her, she would only be bothered by Adam's king.

" It was beautiful. Thank you" Amor forced out with a fake smile. She had an ugly feeling that she was just a mere shadow in the presence of April. She never favored being in any one shadow. It also didn't sit well with her, that Enrique kept glancing at her intensely.

"Come April. I heard you're very good at speeches and am nervous about the speech I've written" he said and April smiled taking his hand.

" It would be my pleasure. And well once I cure you of your nervousness, we can always talk business" she offered and he laughed heartily.

" You're a businesswoman that's for sure," he said and they both walked away.

Enrique didn't know which made him angrier. Her in another man's arms acting like she didn't give a damn about him or her trying to take his opportunity away from him.

"She's so gorgeous, it's unreal ". He said as he watched them go "Hey, Amor, I'm going to the bar first" Brian murmured mostly to himself and walked away.

"Shall we dance " she grabbed his hand forcing him to look at her.

" Yes, but it would have to be another dance. I have to make a call" he excused, and walked out of the hall.

Amor watched him go. Even his ass was sexy. He was the perfect man for her and he was going to be hers. They matched perfectly well together anyway. She was going to get him.

Jasmin watched Amor as she gazed blatantly at Enrique with desire in her eyes not caring if the world was looking. She hated her. She hated that she got to be close to Enrique. She determined to make sure no one stole her love from her. They would hurt if they tried, she promised herself.
