Chapter 26 : Miss Messy

He sat comfortably in a temporary office he set up for this business trip… wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves slightly rolled up… His fingers absentmindedly twirled a silver pen as he tapped against the desk.

His iPad screen split open… with one side showing the documents he reviewed..., his sharp eyes scanning every word. On the other side, his mind wandered off as muted images of Kristen emerged like distant memories.

"I was trying to save you, you ungrateful jerk," Kristen said.

Cut to another memory.....Kristen glared at him with fiery eyes, arguing as her lips trembled while she held back words she refused to utter…

Max exhaled sharply and blinked back to reality. He straightened the paper in front of him but found himself reading the same line over and over again.

"What the hell…" He shook his head and leaned back with an annoyed sigh.

He threw the pen onto the desk as he rubbed his temple. He closed his eyes for a second… and that happened to be a big mistake.

  • Dangerous Love by a Billion   Chapter 83 : The Search

"Yes, the divers have gone to the base of the fall," one officer said into his radio as he stood near the edge of the cliff. He watched the water far below with a furrowed bro. "It’s been hours...and there hasn’t been any sign of her."A group of reporters had gathered with cameras, whispering among themselves. Cars were still backed up as traffic were barely moving as some drivers stepped out to stare.Another officer walked over, shaking his head. "It’s morning already, and we still haven’t found any sign of her" ….……………The helicopter hovered over the water. Its blades made a loud chopping sound as the wind blew hard. Below, the sea was wide and deep, with no sign of her.Max held onto the rope ladder tightly. One hand grabbed the rope, and the other covered his eyes from the wind.He looked down at the rushing waves. The rope moved with the wind, but Max didn’t care. His eyes searched the water again and again, hoping to see her.“Mr. Anderson,” the pilot said through the headset

  • Dangerous Love by a Billion   Chapter 82 : Crystal Valley Cliff

The car came to a slow stop. The air was colder here. Rough winds swept across the edge of Crystal Valley Cliff, making the trees shiver in silence. The man dragged Kristen’s weak body out like a bag of trash, her head barely lifting. She couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak. The drug had taken everything from her except the pain.He dropped her right at the edge, letting her body dangle ever so slightly over the cliff. “What a shame,” he muttered. “Such a pretty girl… the world must have been too heavy for her.”Then he turned and rushed back to the car.A second later, he shouted, loud and fake, “Help! This girl’s about to jump!”“OMG!” a few vendors and passersby down the nearby trail looked up in panic and rushed over. But the strong wind held them back from getting too close.“Someone, please help save her!” the man shouted again, his eyes fixed on Kristen as she swayed near the edge.“Oh my God… what has come of this generation?” one old vendor muttered, standing in disbelief as he dr

"Yes, ma’am. I’ve been following her for the past twenty minutes now," the man said, his voice low as he sat alone in his car. From a distance, his eyes locked on Kristen’s back as she slowly dragged herself down the street…“Keep an eye on her and don’t lose sight of her,” Lena’s voice came through cold and sharp. “We end her today. No mistakes…..….……..Kristen swallowed hard as she dragged herself down the street. Her eyes were wide open, unblinking, lost in shock."Yes, the Andersons killed your parents...Paloma Da Silva..." Mr. Creed’s voice echoed fiercely in her head, loud and sharp.“You filthy little girl” Wham! The memory of Mr. Valtor's slap stung her cheek. His cruel words echoed more loudly than ever: "I'll ensure your life is filled with misery. You'll never experience happiness again."Her hands clenched into fists, her heart beating fast. Tears filled her eyes as his words, the memory, and the pain returned like a storm.“They’re evil… wolves dressed like sheep for th

Pointing his torchlight around to see through the dark, the security guard moved from one office to another, making sure everything was in place. He locked the ones that needed to be locked. At the far end, he flashed the torchlight toward the lobby to see if anyone was there but no one was there. Sighing in relief, he turned to walk away. But just as he reached the hallway, he heard footsteps approaching."Hmm..." he muttered, turning quickly to the direction....but no one was there.Suddenly there was a tap on his shoulder.“Ahhh!” he screamed, stumbling backwards and falling to the floor. The torchlight slipped from his hand and skidded across the floor.A polished shoe stopped it from sliding further.“Please… don’t hurt me,” the security guard muttered, crawling back in fear. The figure slowly bent down, picked up the torch, and pointed it directly at the guard’s face.“Please… please don’t…” the guard trembled, his eyes squeezed shut.Then.....there was a clap and the lights flic

A few days later"I’m sorry to tell you this..." he said hesitantly. "Miss Jessica Barlow didn’t make it. She died in the fire... 21 years ago," Mr. Creed added, his gaze dropping to the floor before slowly meeting Kristen’s eyes. There was so much pain in them."And... your parents died in that fire as well," he continued gently.Kristen’s knees buckled, and she fell back into the chair, her eyes wide with disbelief. His words echoed in her mind like a broken record, her heart pounding. She lifted her face slowly, staring at her reflection in the mirror across the room. Her lips parted as if to speak, but no words came. Just a single tear… then another… sliding quietly down her cheeks.Suddenly a flashback came rushing in.....“Paloma, where are you, little mama?” Mr. Sebastian’s voice called out, slightly panicked as he entered the room.He spun slowly in the center of the room, pretending not to see the little legs peeking from under the bed.“Ohhh, baby… where are you?” he said aga

“She’s stable now,” Dr. Devis said as he approached Mr. Creed.“Good,” Mr. Creed responded, his eyes still fixed on the door to Kristen’s room.Dr. Devis hesitated, then continued, “But we can’t be certain yet. What she recalled during the fire....it may have been a flashback triggered by extreme fear. Trauma can resurface buried memories, but it doesn’t always mean they’ll stay.”Mr. Creed nodded slowly, absorbing every word. “So we won’t know for sure until she wakes up… and says something about it or not?”“Exactly,” the doctor said. “Only then can we confirm if the memories are truly back, or if they were just fleeting echoes stirred by panic.”Just as Dr. Devis walked away, Mom Maria rushed to him in the hallway with panic in her eyes.….……………“Oh goodness....how is she now?” she asked breathlessly, grabbing Mr. Creed’s arm for support.“The doctor said she’s stable,” Mr. Creed replied softly, holding onto her trembling frame as she sank onto the nearby bench. “She collapsed from

“Please… someone save us,” she cried out as the burst of fire surrounded her. With trembling hands, she covered her head and slowly lay flat on the floor, her eyes blinking through tears, fixed helplessly on the flames closing in around her. ...“Miss Jessica,” Paloma called out with a playful laugh, tugging at her hand. “Can we play? Please?”Miss Jessica gave her a gentle smile but shook her head. “It’s bedtime, Paloma. Your mom will kill us if she comes back and finds you still awake.”Paloma pouted, then grinned slyly. “But how will she know… if no one tells her?” She spun around, her eyes wide with mischief. “As soon as we hear her car, I’ll run back to bed and pretend I’ve been sleeping the whole time!”Miss Jessica let out a small laugh, shaking her head. “You’re impossible.”“Oh, my.....always getting me with this look,” Miss Jessica said with a soft sigh, unable to hide her smile. “Okay, okay... we can play. But only for a few minutes, alright?”“Yay!” Paloma beamed.Jessica

Mr. Creed paced back and forth, the neurologist's words looped through his mind. "Not literally. But placing her in an environment that mimics the original setting... even the scent of smoke, certain visuals, sounds... it might help trigger something. However, I must be clear: this is not guaranteed. There's only about a 70% chance she'll recover even partial memory......and it's emotionally risky."He clenched his jaw, lost in thought.“Mr. Creed, you called for me?” Tyrese’s voice broke the silence as he stepped into the room.Mr. Creed stopped abruptly, turned slowly and locked eyes with Tyrese. He studied him in silence for a moment.“History is about to repeat itself,” he muttered under his breath.Tyrese frowned, confused yet aware of the significance of what was about to unfold.Mr. Creed turned away again, staring into nothing.“There’s going to be another FIRE,” he said quietly, but with a chilling certainty in his voice.“Another fire,” he repeated, steadying himself with a

Kristen walked briskly through the office hallway, a file clutched tightly in her hands. She was headed toward the conference room when the sound of shoes approaching caught her attention.Mr. Creed had just walked in, a security guard following a few paces behind. His usual sharp stride slowed the moment his eyes landed on her.Kristen paused, unsure why he was staring.“Good morning, sir,” she greeted politely, offering a small smile. But Mr. Creed didn’t answer right away. His gaze lingered, heavy and distant, as though he were staring through her.“My sweet Amara…” he muttered under his breath, the name spilling out before he could stop it.Kristen blinked, confused. “Sir?” she asked gently. Before either of them could react further, Mr. Mondragon got closed and without warning...wrapped Kristen in a hug from the side with caught her off guard.“Hello! What’s going on?” she asked, half-laughing, half-bewildered.Creed’s eyes snapped back into focus. He cleared his throat and stepp
