Chapter Seventy-nine
Bridgette sighed and leaned against the porch railing. Her mind was swimming with many thoughts as she tried to get in the right frame of mind. At this point she was just hoping that all of this madness would be over with.
“What’s on your mind?” Kane asked, coming to stand next to her.
“I just want all of this to be over with.” She whispered, looking out into the afternoon sky.
‘I know.” Kane said, sitting on the porch steps.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep after this.” She whispered. “Once this is all over I might take a vacation.”
Kane chuckled. He could understand how she felt. She had been dealing with this for years. There was finally a light at the end of the tunnel for her.

Bridgette sighed in relief as they watched people start to arrive for the auction. Her neck and back were hurting and she could barely feel her butt. They had moved the vehicle around to see the front of the warehouse and watch who was going in and out. After nearly fifteen minutes she turned on the bugs that she had placed in the warehouse. Kane sighed and sat down next to her. He couldn’t help but wonder what was running through her mind at that moment. He would give anything to know what she was thinking. He used to wonder the same thing everytime she would stare off into space like that in the past. Sometimes it seemed like nothing had changed. Kane watched the night sky as it sparkled, thinking about how drastically things had changed. He took a sip of his coffee and sighed as he leaned back in his seat. So many things had changed for them all, yet not much had changed. Margo was still living in hell and Bernard was still loose. Once again he found himself sighing. “What’s wrong?” Bridgette whispered, looking at his reflection. “Nothing’s wrong… I’m just thinking.”He said, taking another sip of his coffee.

“That wasn’t even the youngest I have seen in Bernard’s cells.” “How young were they?” Kane asked, not really sure that he would like the answer. “They were young. I think the youngest was seven… But that was about four or five years ago, so she would be old enough to participate in Bernard’s auctions or go to work at The Pleasure Palace.” “Are you saying that he sent a little kid to work at a whore house?” Kane demanded. “Not a whore house. The girls that work there are picked by the clients that frequent the place. In a whore house you provide sex and companionship or whatever it is that your client wants. Four more vehicles pulled up and people began filing out. Some were from Aiden’s group. Others were from the club and sent to help with triage and treating the wounded. Brigette sighed and began giving directions to get everyone down there as fast as they could.A terrified young woman sat towards the back of the van with Spencer’s head in her lap. It had been a few days since Spencer and the others had arrived. Jess and a few of the others that had arrived to help treat the injured were coming by to assist with keeping them comfortable and medicated until they could get up and move around freely. Most of them had packed up and left for the day however, Bridgette was now staring at a fuming Jess.The older woman’s arms were crossed over her chest as she stood there staring at the young woman that she had watched grow up. Her eyes were glaring daggers at her but at the same time Bridgette knew that she wasn’t really mad at her. She was mad that she had been alive this whole time and been allowed to believe that she was dead. Machine would be getting an earful later, she thought as she took in her appearance.“It really is you?” She whispered tearfully.

Jess sighed but agreed that the best thing that they could do now was to wait and let her adjust a bit more to her current situation. She sighed and sipped from the coffee cup. She stared at the dark liquid for a moment before turning her eyes on the young woman in front of her. “So what exactly are we going to do?” She asked. “We aren’t going to do anything. You’re going to help get these men well and then pretend like you don’t know I exist. It’s what’s best for your safety.” Bridgette whispered. “And if I can’t?” She asked, raising a brow. “You’re going to have to. If Bernard finds out that I am back or someone that knows him gets wind of this then I will end up in his cells again. I can’t go back and I have to protect Sammy and Marco
