The room was silent except for the occasional scrape of a chair against the polished floor and the rhythmic tapping of Rodger’s fingers against the table.

The guard had left to retrieve the security footage, and now, we waited.

I could feel the tension in the air as everyone began to create scenarios of what would happen next in their heads.

Our meeting which had been called upon to talk about a new collaboration between our families has turned into a reckoning for betrayers.
