“Let’s put on a show,” Addison says, grabbing Javan’s hand and tugging him onto the dance floor.

Addison isn’t necessarily expecting Javan to be a very good dancer considering his age, but he takes the lead easily, his hands low on Addison’s hips, pulling her in close.

It’s easy and effortless, and more than anything, it’s fun—the DJ is playing song after song after song, but Addison doesn’t feel like much time has passed at all.

She’s losing herself to the music, just perfectly drunk enough to feel warm and buzzy and careless, and she all but forgets about the unpleasant situation that’s led her to dance with Javan in the first place. Her world has narrowed down to the heavy thrum of the bass, the flashing lights above them, and the feeling of Javan’s warm, solid body against her.

Javan seems like he’s having fun, too.

He’s all bright smiles and laughter and gentle touches, eyes solely focused on Addison as
