“Do you think he’s convinced?” Addison asks, cocking her head. “That you’re my boyfriend?”

“That depends,” Javan says. “How convinced do you want him to be?”

Javan’s gaze flickers down to Addison’s lips.

“Very,” She murmurs quietly.

They’re barely dancing anymore, but Addison doesn’t care much. She hardly notices the bodies jostling them on all sides, dancing and laughing and pushing.

Javan lifts a hand to Addison’s face, cupping her cheek. Addison tilts her chin up, leaning into the touch. Their noses brush. Neither of them move.

“Is this more convincing?” Javan breathes.

“Probably,” Addison says.

“Convincing enough, then?”

“No.”

“No?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Mmm,” Javan says, his thumb tracing over Addison’s cheek. “You’re very demanding.”

“And yet you’re still playing along.”

Their noses brush again.
