As the evening went on, Aiden took her into the living room once more. He gestured towards a painting on the wall, Ashley smiled brightly, as she touched it calmly, like she was scared the painting was a living thing and she might hurt. Ashley wondered how she didn't notice such beauty earlier on.

"The painting is beautiful." Ashley said, meaning it.

Aiden smiled. "Thanks. I had but the painting because it reminder me of you, how you see beauty in any and everything. How you notice all the tiny details."

Ashley felt flutters in her stomach, her heart was somersaulting. Aiden had bought the painting because it reminded him of her. To many, they'll see it as a random painting of children crossing the road, but to Ashley it was more than that. She didn't just see children crossing the road. She saw hungry boys who hadn't eat this morning, and were running away after stealing bread, while a market woman with wrapper tied to her waist pursued them.

    THE next few days in Ashley's house was a hide and seek game between Ashley and her mom.
