LOGINHailey Queen
I reached home drenched in wine and sticky red liquid, my body trembling, each step heavier than the last. My arms hugged myself as if I could somehow shield my heart from the crushing weight of humiliation. Tears streamed freely down my cheeks, stinging my skin, but I couldn’t stop them. “Thank you… for helping me,” I whispered shakily to the strange guy in the black T-shirt. I didn't dare look at his face, I was in my own world of humiliation. He had pulled me away from Brighton, his presence a small lifeline amidst the storm of jeers and mockery. He nodded, giving me a gentle, understanding look. “Just go home and stay safe.” I forced a weak smile and stepped inside. The sight that met me made my stomach drop. Madison was already there, wrapped in my father’s arms, her face wet with perfectly timed fake tears. Her eyes sparkled with a cruel delight. “Hailey…” she said softly, her voice trembling in mock sorrow. “I… I didn’t mean for him to…” I blinked at her, my heart shattering. Did she actually expect me to believe her act? Did she really think she could manipulate my father this easily? Before I could speak, my stepmom stormed forward. Her hand shot out, and the sting of the slap burned across my cheek, sending my head snapping sideways. “Why are you this evil, Hailey?” she demanded, voice sharp, icy. “You hurt your own sister, and now you’ve soaked yourself so that we can believe you didn’t! You scratch your face just to seek out sympathy!” I stumbled back, clutching my cheek, tears streaming harder now. “I didn’t—please! I didn’t hurt her! You have to believe me!” My voice cracked with desperation. But my father’s hand was already on my arm, yanking me upstairs. Pain shot through my wrist, and I cried out, stumbling over my own feet. “You’re lying, Hailey. Always lying,” he growled. His belt came off his waist and he roughly wiped my hair and face with it, leaving red marks across my back and shoulders. I gasped, feeling each bruise form as the sting traveled through me. “You are a misfortune,” he spat, his face cold and unyielding. “Always jealous. Always causing trouble.” I could barely breathe, my body shaking uncontrollably. “But… but I didn’t hurt her! I swear!” Madison’s voice echoed cruelly in my ears. “See? She’s crying again. She always does this, trying to make herself the victim.” She smiled faintly, triumphant. “Everyone knows you’re the problem, Hailey. Even your own father.” By the time he was done, I was bleeding from my arms and back, my cheeks swollen, and my chest heaving with sobs. My body felt like it was breaking from the inside out. “You’re grounded,” he said flatly. “And I’ve stripped you of your shares from the family company. You’ll work to feed yourself. Don’t expect anything from me.” My throat went dry as he leaned closer, his eyes cold. “And don’t you dare tell your mother. She is dying.” I froze, my tears stinging anew. “Mom… is sick?” My voice was barely a whisper, breaking. “Yes,” he said, voice like ice. “Cancer. Only a few months to live.” I fell to the floor, tears streaming unchecked, my chest heaving as sobs wracked my body. At least these words hurt… but losing Mom? Hurts most. If she were here, I wouldn’t be treated this way. My hands clawed at the cold floor as I whispered her name over and over, the thought of her fragile life the only thing keeping me from losing myself completely. Madison leaned closer, her fake tears now replaced with a smirk. “You see? This is what happens when you mess up, Hailey. No one cares about you.” I shook my head violently, my voice cracking. “I didn’t hurt you… I swear! You’re lying!” She laughed, soft and cruel. “Oh, Hailey… always crying, always desperate to be one of us.” I could barely hear my own sobs over the laughter in my head, the relentless reminders of how alone I truly was. My phone buzzed beside me. I picked it up and saw a message from my best friend ..Lily Carter: *I heard what happened, I'm sorry about that. Brighton is a total dickhead. I clutched my phone like it was a lifeline, my fingers trembling as I typed a shaky, silent thank you. The next morning, I painstakingly applied makeup to hide the bruises, every brushstroke a battle against my own reflection. My hands shook as I tried to mask the pain, both physical and emotional, so that no one would see the reality of what had happened. My best friend picked me up. She frowned at me, her eyes scanning my face. “Why are you wearing that much makeup?” I forced a small smile. “I… I just don’t want anyone knowing I got beaten.” She groaned. “If it were me, I would have reported him to the police.” I shook my head, voice barely audible. “My dad is a cop… remember? I have no case.” As we arrived at school, laughter and whispers followed me like shadows. At the corner of my eye, my world froze—Brighton was kissing Madison, their lips pressed together, their smiles so sure, so deliberate. I pulled my hoodie tighter over my head, trying to disappear, to vanish from the cruelty around me. But then I bumped into something solid. "I'm sorry—" I said, looking up, and froze. A tall, handsome guy stood before me, his blue eyes piercing, a jawline sharp enough to cut glass, lips perfectly formed. His gaze was steady, calm, and somehow… safe. "Hey, it’s you again. How are you feeling?" he asked nonchalantly. I swallowed hard, how did I not notice his godly features? He looked like a walking god on earth, my chest tightening and my lips quivering. "I am fine," I lie. "Hailey let's go, class is about to start," Lilly appeared behind me, startling me from my sinful thoughts.Hailey’s POVThe moment I excuse myself from the table. Roy gives me a slight nod and a kiss on my forehead , hiss eyes narrow slightly at Ryan, like he's trying to prove if his eyes are on me again. Roy's gaze isn't resentful, to my suprise. It's calm, like a man who knows what his brother wants too. I try to shove down the idea of having the both of them on me, the hot feel of their blazing touch, but I bury it so deep that the little angel that whispers good things in my ear is cheering and the little devil is busy frowning. I look back at lilly before disappearing into the hall, her cheerful gaze gives off something I know too way. She's definitely up to something, and I am going to find out.But my nerves down calm down from there, I hear Ryan's voice, excusing himself from the table."Oh shit..." I murmur under my breath.I pick up my pace, in hopes I'd successfully avoid that savage bad boy from catching up to me.I feel Ryan’s gaze burning into my back, but I ignore it an
Hailey’s POVA Few Days later Roy asked me out the moment school ended, my cheerleading practice had taken a tore out of me. His fingers brushed my waist, his voice low when he said he wanted to take me somewhere nice. My stomach fluttered, and I said yes before he even finished the sentence. I could tell he had been waiting all day to ask.But the moment Ryan found out, damn it ..Ryan’s reaction almost killed the moment.“You two are going out?” he asked, folding his arms like the question offended him.Roy gave him a slow grin. “Yeah. Got a problem?”Ryan didn’t blink. “None at all. Actually… great. Perfect.”I narrowed my eyes. Ryan never said anything was perfect. And he definitely didn’t sound pleased. Then he dropped the bomb. “Let’s make it a double date.”Roy’s brows shot up. “A double what?”I looked at Ryan, confused. “With who?”Ryan only shrugged. “Someone.”My heartbeat stuttered. Someone? He didn’t date. Ever. He barely talked to people. The idea of him casually showing
Roy’s POVHailey’s lips were still warm from our last kiss when I leaned in again. She let out a soft breath that made my chest tighten. I cupped her face and kissed her deeply, slow at first, then harder when she pulled at my shirt and pressed closer. She kissed me back like she had been waiting for this, holding on to me as if the whole world around us didn’t exist. When we finally pulled apart, she rested her forehead against mine. Her lips were swollen, her breathing uneven, and I wanted to kiss her again.“Come home with me,” I said. She nodded.I drove her to the Williams mansion. The moment we stepped inside, Ryan looked up. His eyes went straight to Hailey’s mouth, then to my hand around her waist. His jaw tightened, but he didn’t speak.“You’re both here,” he said calmly. “Good. I have updates.”Hailey stepped a little closer to me. Ryan noticed. His expression tightened for a second before he forced it away.“I followed up on Brighton,” he said.Hailey swallowed. “What did y
Hailey's pov Roy pulled me closer across the console, his hand sliding around my waist with a hunger that made my breath catch. The entire parking lot was empty and quiet, the windows already fogging from the heat building between us. His thumb traced slow circles on my hip as if he had been waiting all day just to touch me. My heart hammered so fast I could feel it everywhere. He leaned in and his voice dropped. “Come here.”I moved onto his lap, straddling him carefully. His hands immediately gripped my thighs, warm and firm, pulling me flush against him. When our lips met, the kiss wasn’t gentle. It was deep and urgent, stealing every bit of air from my lungs. His fingers slid under my shirt, stroking the bare skin of my waist, and the warmth of his touch made my breath catch in my throat.Roy kissed me harder at the sound, one hand moving up my back, the other guiding my hips against him. The pressure of him beneath me sent a sharp jolt through my body. My hands tangled in his ha
Hailey’s POVThe next dayCheerleading practice drained me completely. My legs felt heavy, my arms were tired, and sweat clung to my skin, but it felt good to move again. Madison kept watching me under her dark glasses, too afraid to let people see her mysterious black eye.I stayed behind to collect my things while the other girls walked out in groups, laughing and chatting. As I grabbed my bag from the bleachers, something caught my eye. A phone lay under the bench. I picked it up, planning to hand it to the lost and found. The screen lit up in my hand and the name on it made my stomach twist."This is Brighton's phone, did he drop it or something?" I asked myself. Before I could even react, the phone vibrated again and a new message flashed across the screen.Boss, we silenced another one. Should we target Miss Hailey tonight too?My hands turned cold. For a moment I could not breathe. My heart pounded fast, almost painful. They wanted to target me?Silence another one? My mind qui
Hailey’s POVThe ride back to town was quiet, filled with the hum of the engine and the occasional rustle of leaves outside. Roy sat beside me in the car, face tense, jaw set, fingers tapping lightly against his leg. I knew that look—focused, controlled, worried. The news from the school had come in: the holiday was cut short, and everyone had to report back immediately. It was disappointing for me, considering all we had uncovered, but I also knew we didn’t have a choice.Roy’s driver dropped me off in front of the school. “Good luck today, Hailey,” Roy murmured, leaning close, his hand brushing mine briefly before he stepped out to head to his team practice. His scent lingered, warm and familiar, and for a second I allowed myself to remember the stolen kisses, the lingering touches, and the complicated feelings swirling around him and his brother.I straightened my bag and took a deep breath before stepping inside. It didn’t take long for the first challenge of the day to arrive. Ma
