Chapter 111 - Eden

Connor had promised me a friendly lunch, but I wasn't sure if you could really call it that.

Well, Connor was kind of right when he said we needed to learn to live harmoniously for the sake of the children, even separated. There would be countless birthday parties, Christmases and school holidays in the coming years and, if we really didn't have a future together anymore… If one day my children needed to spend some time away from me, just with their father… Or with a stepmother…

Damn, that's why I couldn't spend too much time thinking about that sort of thing. The more I tried to imagine the future, the more confused I felt.

Well, Theo certainly seemed happy that we were all gathered there, so that was all that mattered. It just wasn't very pleasant feeling like I was in the middle of a war zone while my dad stared at Connor like he was planning to throw a chair at him at any moment.

“Mommy, mommy!” Theo tried to pull me by the hand, completely ignoring the poor waitress who was tr

Now, a giant chapter to make up for the last two short ones XD I really need to learn to be more consistent with chapter lengths, I know. I'm working on it, I promise.

  • Dear Ex-Husband, I'm Only Here to Save Your Son   Thank you All!

That's it, everyone! This was the last chapter! I'm finishing this book with a bittersweet feeling of accomplishment. Going through my father's death while needing to continue with a linear creative process was quite challenging, and at times I thought I wouldn't be able to continue. Now, having finished the book and knowing that most of you enjoyed it makes me feel that, just as I continued with the story despite the difficulties, I can do the same with my life (╥ ᴗ ╥) Thank you to everyone who was here and who followed this story despite the delays. Know that reading your comments, recommendations, and seeing your views is what motivated me to keep writing and get this far! You are amazing!I apologize again for any grammatical or agreement errors that may have escaped my notice throughout the story. Also, I would appreciate your feedback on whether my English is improving. I know this is an old complaint of yours, and I am working to improve it even more!Regarding the next book, I

I usually had no trouble waking up early. The alarm on the bedside table next to my bed would ring, I'd stretch for a moment and, even though I was a little sleepy, I usually didn't take long to get out of bed.But on that day, a pair of strong arms were preventing me from doing that.“Connor.” I laughed, feeling his naked body rub against mine “I have to get up.”“No, you don’t…” he murmured, his hands roaming my body while his tongue traced the nape of my neck “If you’re so willing to get out of bed, it’s because I didn’t do a good job tiring you out last night. Let me fix that…”“I’d like to see how you’re going to fix this when the kids are late for school…” I laughed, but did nothing to stop him when his hands reached for my breasts, making me sigh.

I didn't know Mommy was going to need to come to the hospital to have the baby. Before, I thought my brother or sister was going to burst out of her belly, like in that cool alien movie Elijah and I watched secretly from his parents the last time I slept at his house. But Mommy had told me no. That the baby wouldn't hurt her when it came out.But then, why were we in the hospital now? And why did Grandpa seem so worried?“Are you sure you don’t want to go to the playroom, Theo?” Grandpa asked me with a smile, but I knew he was just trying to trick me “I think we’ll be here a little while longer, so you have time to play…”“I don’t want to play.” I huffed, crossing my arms “I want to see Mommy! Why can’t I go into the room where she is with Dad? You lied to me and the baby is hurting her…?”

I walked away from the room towards the apartment door, the conversations inside becoming increasingly inaudible as I left the house, finding nothing outside the apartment. However, it only took me a few meters, towards the elevator, for a pair of very different voices to begin to sound.“I’ve made this very clear to you: I had a father. And, even though he’s dead, he’s the only man who deserves that title.” Charlie said, her voice sharp “Stop bothering me with your nonsense or I’ll be forced to take action on this. You’d be surprised how quickly I can get a restraining order against you…”"I just..." It had been a long time since I'd heard Michael's voice, and at that moment, it sounded quite distressed, nothing like the imposing voice I remembered.“You heard her.” Connor cut him off “Don’t mention changing her last name again. It’s disrespectful to Mr. Robinson. Now, if that’s all you came here for, I think I’ve allowed you to stay long enough…”“Wait. I… Listen, Connor, I know you

“Mommy, mommy! Everyone’s here!” I heard Theo’s cry from across the apartment, but I stayed where I was, smiling as I finished decorating the cake that was on the counter “Mommy? Mommy!” he gasped as he entered the kitchen and saw me there “Why are you on the couch! You know you can’t exert yourself! It’s bad for the baby!” He stopped beside me, his little hands on his hips and an indignant expression on his face.“I’ve already rested enough all day. I’m sure your sibling won’t mind if I just finish decorating the cake.” I smiled, running my hand over my belly, which was a little bigger than expected for six months pregnant “Your father made some frosting earlier, but when I looked in the fridge, it looked like cement. Don’t tell him, but I had to throw it away…”“In my defense, the croquettes turned out well.” Connor huffed, entering the kitchen with an empty tray in his hands “The sweets are the ones that are difficult as hell. And what do you think you're doing standing up?” He sta

In all my worst nightmares, I was once again in a hospital bed, in pain and scared, grieving the loss of my baby. And even when I still thought Theodore was dead, the only thing that comforted me when I woke up was the certainty that this pain and despair would never happen to me again. However, there I was again. All the shock and terror we had suffered in the last few hours seemed to finally take effect, and I was huddled on the hospital gurney while Connor hugged me, trembling and waiting for news about how my baby was. It was quite a commotion when we all arrived at the hospital with Michael with a gunshot wound, Stefana injured, and me bleeding. Thankfully, all the doctors and nurses had been very quick to attend to us, and I could only imagine how shocked they were to see us in that state. However, no matter how quickly the tests were done, there were no miracles about the speed of the results. All I could do at that moment was wait and pray that my baby was okay. So that I wou
