Lillian’s POV

I decided to go to the company that afternoon, despite everything falling apart in my personal life. I hadn’t been consistent with my visits over the past week, too consumed with the drama at the pack house to focus on work. But I needed normalcy, needed something that made me feel competent and in control when everything else was chaos.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I was reaching for my bag when I spotted her.

Miranda, standing near the entrance, her phone pressed to her ear

Lillian’s POVThe door to my room swung open before anyone had even moved to leave, and Miranda walked in looking like she had just stumbled upon the scene by complete accident. Her eyes went wide, her hand flew to her mouth, and then she did exactly what I knew she was going to do.“Oh my god,” she breathed, looking from Meryl’s bleeding arm to me and then to Dorian. “What is happening in here?” Then her voice climbed higher, filling the room, filling the hallway beyond the open door where I could already see heads turning. “She was plotting against me, wasn’t she?”“I didn’t do anything,” I said, and I hated how desperate my own voice sounded against the performance she was putting on. “Both of you are lying. Dorian, listen to me, Miranda and this maid are working together. I saw Meryl leaving Miranda’s room last night at two in the morning. They were in there together having a private conversation and I followed her back to the staff quarters myself. They know each other. This who

Lillian’s POVThat evening, I called one of the other maids and told her to send Meryl to my room with a drink. I kept my voice casual, like it was just a routine request, nothing out of the ordinary. Then I sat down and waited, turning everything over in my mind as I prepared myself for what I was about to do.When the knock finally came at my door, I straightened in my chair and told her to come in.Meryl entered carrying a small tray with a glass of juice on it, moving with aquiet grace that probably made her very good at her job. She set the tray down carefully on the side table, smoothed the front of her uniform, and then looked at me with a calm, pleasant expression that told me nothing at all. Up close, she was even prettier than I remembered from the night before, with. “Your drink, Luna,” she said politely. “Is there anything else I can get for you?”I studied her for a long moment, watching her hands, her eyes, the way she held herself. She was good. Completely composed, g

Lillian’s POVMinutes dragged by with agonizing slowness as I crouched in my hiding spot, my legs cramping from holding the same position for so long. The decorative plant provided decent cover, but I had to stay perfectly still to avoid being noticed if anyone walked past. One hour became two. My back ached, my feet had gone numb, and I was seriously questioning whether this was worth it. Maybe the maid had already left while I was talking to Alanna. Maybe she wasn’t even in there at all and I’d misidentified the scent. But my wolf insisted we wait, insisted that the person who’d drugged me was still behind that door.So I persisted, fighting the urge to give up and go back to bed. Finally, just when I was about to abandon this stakeout, I heard a click the distinctive sound of a door handle turning.I pressed myself further back into the alcove, making sure I was completely hidden in the shadows as Miranda’s door swung open.Miranda herself stepped out first, looking cautious as she

Lillian’s POVMy wolf’s insistence grew stronger, and I knew I couldn’t just lie here frozen while someone lurked outside my door. I needed to confront whoever it was, to find out what they wanted and why they were watching my room in the middle of the night.I slipped out of bed as quietly as possible and moved toward the door. My hand hovered over the handle for just a second before I yanked it open quickly, hoping to catch whoever was there off guard. But the hallway was empty.I looked left and right, searching for any sign of movement or presence, but saw nothing. Just the dim emergency lighting that illuminated the corridor at night and the shadows cast by various pieces of furniture.Except… my wolf insisted someone had been here. And as I stepped out into the hallway, I caught it a trace of an unfamiliar scent lingering in the air. Not strong enough to identify who it belonged to, but distinctive enough to know someone had definitely been standing outside my door recently.I b

Lillian’s POVI rushed out of my office to witness the scene unfolding in the main hallway. Dorian stood in the center of a cluster of terrified-looking employees, his expression thunderous as he held what looked like a quarterly report in his clenched fist.“This is unacceptable,” he was saying, his voice tight with barely controlled fury. “These projections are completely unrealistic. Did anyone actually verify these numbers before submitting them to me?”His secretary stood nearby looking like she wanted to disappear into the floor, and several workers who’d apparently come to submit their own reports were frozen in place, clearly too scared to move.“Alpha Dorian, I can explain the methodology….”one of the analysts started nervously.“I don’t want to hear excuses,” Dorian interrupted sharply. “I want accurate data. Is that too much to ask? Is basic competence too high a standard?”I felt a pang of guilt as I watched him tear into his employees over what were probably minor errors.

Something about her body language the way she kept looking around like she didn’t want to be overheard made me pause before getting out of my car.I cracked my window slightly, just enough to hear her voice carrying across the parking lot.“He’s not falling in line like he’s supposed to,” Miranda was saying, her voice sharp with frustration. “I tried everything nothing’s working. He won’t even look at me without disgust.

Lillian’s POVI screamed for help, my voice echoing through the pack house with pure panic. “Help! Someone help! Lillian’s POVI stood at the window watching Dorian’s car disappear down the driveway, a hollow feeling settling in my chest as the distance between us grew. Dorian’s POVI woke up the next morning with Lillian still wrapped in my arms, her hair spread across my chest and the mark on her neck visible in the early sunlight filtering through the curtains. I felt a satisfaction so deep it made my wolf purr contentedly, knowing that she was finally, truly
