(Damien POV)

I still couldn’t bring myself to believe Mr. Albert had leaked the project and betrayed me. If it were anyone else, I’d say the evidence was planted, that they’d been bribed or threatened. But this was Albert. The man who’d stood by me for years.

And yet… I’d seen the evidence myself. With Evelyn at my side. If I hadn’t been the one to find it, maybe I’d have doubted it. Maybe I’d have doubted her.

I skipped breakfast, my mind too restless to eat, and went straight to work. The boa

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'm back for revenge    Chapter 45:- Maybe this time

Eveyln povThe engine hissed, a low, dying sound that filled the cabin, but all I could hear was the rush of blood in my ears. The windshield was a spiderweb of cracks, blurring the world outside, but inside, everything was terrifyingly clear.“Are you hurt, Evie?” His voice was low, tight, panic threaded through it. I looked up at him and saw it, genuine worry etched across his face. My chest tightened. My eyes traveled to his hands resting on my chest, steadying me in that heartbeat of chaos and that alone undid me.“I’m fine,” I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. He exhaled sharply, as if he’d been holding his breath the entire time. Relief softened his features for a fleeting second, but then my gaze caught something that made my stomach twist.Blood.A thin streak, dark against his skin. His hand. He noticed my eyes lock onto it and quickly tried to pull it away, to hide it from me, but it was too late.“You’re hurt?” My voice trembled.“I’m fine,” he said again, offering

Evelyn POVDamien’s arm was firm around me, steady, like he had decided I was something that could not be taken tonight. I did not need to look at him to know the room had shifted. I felt it in the sudden hush, in the way people stopped pretending not to stare. Protection has a weight to it. It presses into your ribs. It announces itself without words.Micah’s face drained of color. Just seconds ago, she owned the room. Now she stood there blinking too much, fingers tightening around her bag like it was the only thing anchoring her to the ground. She looked like someone who had opened the wrong door and walked straight into a memory she never buried.Something warm curled in my chest. Satisfaction. Pride. Power. And then guilt followed it, sharp and unwanted. Why did this make me happy?I told myself it was because I finally stood where I should have stood years ago. Because for once, I was not shrinking, not explaining, not stepping aside. I claimed my place and the world adjusted. B

Evelyn POVDamien’s hands were still on my waist when he pulled away from Liam, who was just standing there, watching.“What was that about?” he asked, eyebrows slightly furrowed.“What?? I can’t just catch up with my friend again,” I said quickly, keeping my voice light. My mind was still reeling from the tension in the room when…A stranger appeared from nowhere, yanking Damien’s hands off me and wrapping herself around him. Before I could think, before I could react, she was all over him.I froze.Damien, calm as ever, pulled her back with a gentle smile. “Micah, is that you?”“Yes, it’s me,” she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.“When did you come back? Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, a note of surprise in his voice.“I wanted to surprise you. Didn’t you miss me?” she added, pressing her hands to his chest.I blinked. Disgust and something else I refused to name twisted in me. Her gown—slutty, too revealing—was exactly the kind of thing I would have rolled my eyes

Damien POVI glanced at her briefly, curiosity stirring now.“Why are you so eager to know what she said,” I asked lightly, keeping my eyes on the road, “when you don’t even know the girl I’m talking about?”She smiled.“Just curious.”I smiled back, letting it go.The car pulled up to the venue minutes later. Light spilled from the glass entrance, laughter and soft music floating into the night. The Aurelius Gala never did anything halfway. Power dressed as elegance. Money pretending to be art.I stepped out first, then reached for her hand. She hesitated for half a second before placing her fingers in mine. That half second mattered more than it should have. The moment we walked in, heads turned. Whispers followed. Eyes lingered. Evelyn always did that. She did not need effort. She simply existed, and rooms adjusted.I tightened my grip slightly, reminding myself why we were here.Business.The damage she caused last time still haunted my company. Investors were cautious. Partners s

Evelyn POVI hummed softly as I studied my reflection. The gown Damien sent fit like it had been made with my body in mind. Every line, every curve. I smoothed my palms down the fabric, exhaled, then reached for my makeup, careful, deliberate.Tonight was not just an event. It was a negotiation.Aveillie & Co needed this deal, and even if I was attending with Damien, I could not afford distraction. I would be charming. Calculated. Sharp.I took one last look at myself and headed downstairs.Damien sat on the couch with his laptop balanced on his knee, sleeves rolled back, suit tailored to perfection. The sight of him pulled something old and dangerous from memory. Five years ago flickered through my mind.I shut it down instantly. He looked up.And stared. Not the polite glance of a man admiring a dress. This was slower. Intent. Like he was committing the image to memory. My skin prickled.I tried to walk past him.Big mistake. His arm wrapped around my waist from behind and he pulled

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'm back for revenge    Chapter 40:- She is like her

Damien POVI stepped out to get a dress for the event and had it delivered straight to Evelyn. If I was going to do this, I would do it right. From there, I walked into a jewelry store. Her birthday was coming fast. Five years. That was how long I had missed. Five years of moments I could never get back. I could not fix that, but I could make this one count.I walked slowly, eyes scanning the glass cases, imagining which piece would look right on her skin. Then I saw it. A diamond set that caught the light like it was made to be noticed. Simple. Elegant. Very Evelyn.I reached for it.At the same time, a tiny hand shot out and grabbed the same piece.I paused and turned.A little girl stared up at me like I had committed a personal crime.I blinked, then smiled. “You want this?”She did not answer. Just kept staring.I waved a hand in front of her face. “Hello, cute baby girl. You want this too?”Her eyes narrowed. “I am not a baby. And since I saw it first, I am the one getting it.”
