Midnight Madness

Is someone calling my name? I sit up in my bed and listen. I hear nothing, so I lie back down.

"Jade." Someone softly calls. I sit up again.

"Jade, down here!"

Easing out of bed to the side of my open room window, I look out. It's Missy! I go to speak, but she wildly motions for me to keep quiet. Now, she's motioning for me to open the back door. I tiptoe to the storm doors and let her in. She's all sweaty, disjointed, and terrorized!

"Missy, what happened to you?"

Knocking me over, she runs and cuts off the kitchen light, then returns to recheck the storm doors, ensuring they're locked. She sprints to the back and then the front doors, ensuring they're locked too.

Skipping steps, she rushes upstairs and locks my window. She then sneaks into my parents' room and shuts their windows. Though horrified, I follow close behind without questioning her until she's done checking every entrance. Finally, she motions for me to come and talk to her in the hallway without windows.
