Chapter 55

**CHLOE**

I stood by the entrance of the house, and my eyes caught Dad's standing across the vast expanse of the house.

"Dad, please come to me," I cried. "My leg hurts."

I tried to walk to Dad, but I couldn't; my legs seemed to be stuck to the ground.

"Chloe, my dear. Dad's coming to help you," he called out, running to me.

Tears streamed down my cheeks. "I missed you so much. I had a horrible dream," I sniffed. "You were gone."

My voice wasn't loud, but he still seemed to hear me clearly from afar.

He was running faster now. "Dad's here, Chloe; nothing bad will happen to me. It's only a nightmare."

"But it felt so real," I sobbed. "We even had a funeral."

"I'm here now, dear; no more nightmares."

Dad kept running to me, but he wasn't getting any closer. It was as though he was running on a treadmill.

Suddenly, the ground opened up and swallowed him.

"Dad!!" I screamed and jumped up on my bed.
