Chapter 8

Clara was very loud on the phone. Evelyn could hear her. She also heard Warren's heartbreaking response.

Evelyn suddenly felt as if all seven years of her love for him had just been flushed down the toilet.

Looking coldly at Warren, she said, "I only told Mandy to make a copy of the footage for me. I never told her to delete it."

Warren looked back at her expressionlessly and said, "We have proof, and we have witnesses. And you're still trying to fight it?"

Evelyn laughed miserably. Why did she even bother explaining things to Warren? Did she really think he was still going to believe her?

Evelyn pressed her lips together and forced herself to calm down.

"If that's the case, then just file for an investigation. I've done nothing of the sort, and nobody can force me to admit it. I don't care if my family is ruined because of this. I'm going to prove my innocence!"
