I’m constantly waking up with headaches lately, and the one assaulting me right now feels like the worst I’ve had. My head feels like it’s about to split open - literally.

“Ugh,” I complain and sit up while trying to focus my eyesight, which seems to be even worse for some reason. When my eyes adjust, I realise that I don’t completely recognise the room that I’m in. Did I get kidnapped again?

I feel around in the pockets of my jeans for my cell phone so that I can call Nikolai, but before I can find it, the door opens, and he steps inside.

“Hey, Nickybabe,” I say with a lazy smile and watch his face lights up.

“You’re awake,” he says as he walks toward me and sits down on the bed next to me. “How are you feeling?”

I clear my throat and try to blink, but even that hurts.

“My head is killing me; even blinking hurts right now. Did something happen? Did I drink too much wine?” I ask, remembering the one glass I had on the terrace but nothing else.
