Cassandra’s POV I was sitting at work the next day, still going over the conversation I’d had with Lisa. I was both stunned and unnerved by some of the things she’d said. If Dillon had known that Laura had an abortion, why had he told me she lost the baby? Was he intentionally lying to me? And if so, why? Then there was the whole sociopath thing. I googled it and read a brief definition. Lisa’s description had been pretty spot on though. From what I could gather, IF Laura really was a sociopath, then she didn’t really care about anyone and she felt no guilt if she hurt someone’s feelings. Cassandra’s POV What did she just say? “Pardon?” I balked. “Yeah. Well, an undiagnosed one. At least, that’s what my mom thinks. I agree. My dad too. We didn’t really realize it until she’d moved away. My mother asked Laura’s father to have her tested, but he flat out refused. It explains a lot of her behavior over the years.” “A sociopath?” I repeated. “As in…” “No,” she shook her head. “You’re probably thinking of a psychopath. Laura’s not that. A sociopath is something entirely different. It’s actually a form of a disorder called ASPD, or antisocial personality disorder,” Lisa explained. But I was having a hard time moving past the image of Laura as a murderer. Lisa must have seen the expression on my face because she chuckled. “Don’t worry. Laura’s not a killer. She’d never hurt anyone. Not physically, anyway.” So I pushed that image out of my mind and listened to Lisa further explain.

Cassandra’s POV Abortion? But that didn’t make any sense. According to Dillon, he’d married her because she was pregnant. He thought it was the right thing to do. Then Laura had lost the baby and they realized there was no need to stay married. Cassandra’s POV I scanned the crowded coffee shop for Lisa. I caught her eye and she waved at me. I motioned that I was just going to grab a coffee before I came to join her. She nodded.
