Dillon’s POV

I called Cassandra to fill her in on my phone call with Jordyn. Honestly, I was glad that he’d finally decided to take action. After Cassandra overheard the conversation at Stanley’s celebration of life, where Vivienne confessed to all the shit she’d done, we’d told Jordyn, of course. With Cassandra’s testimony and the evidence we had from my private detective, we had more than enough evidence to press charges against Vivienne for black mail, malicious bribery, kidnapping, and attempted murder.

But at the end of the day, it had been Jordyn’s decision and Jordyn’s alone to make. So when he told us that he didn’t want to press charges, Cassandra and I had no choice but to support him.

However, apparently he’d changed his mind, and I was happy that he’d reached out to me for help. I told Cassandra that we were all meeting at our place that evening: Stella and Cameron, myself and Cassandra, and Jordyn, Jordyn’s father, Howard, and Laura.

Cassandra’s POV We pulled up to the indoor playground. “Ready?” Dillon asked, a wry smile on his face. We were at a birthday party for a little girl from my Thursday afternoon Mommy and Me class. They were having the party at an indoor gym, and the last I heard, the guest list was over 30 children. Dillon and I took a deep, steadying breath. This was the calm before the storm. We knew all too well what sort of chaos beheld us inside those doors. Screaming children, bruised knees, sugar overloads, mini-meltdowns. It had been our experience that a real life circus paled in comparison to a toddler-aged birthday party. So we needed a moment to collect ourselves before entering the massive gym. “Ready,” I said to Dillon, my eyes locked firmly on the doors to the gym. “We got this.” Dillon and I each stepped out of the car to unbuckle a twin from their car seats in the back. “Who’s this party for again?

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 519: I Can Let Loose

Cassandra’s POV “She’s really wonderful, Stanley. You would be so proud of Jordyn.” I sighed and rested my hands on my chins. The untouched snow was so beautiful in the morning light. Everything felt so peaceful and serene. Dillon had convinced me that Stanley’s ghost haunted the house. Not in a bad, threatening way, but more in like a ‘I’m just checking in every so often’ sort of way. I could never really tell if Dillon truly believed it or not, but it didn’t matter. Over the years, I’d come to believe it myself. In a playful way, of course, but every so often, when I was alone like this, I found myself talking to Stanley. Whether or not his ghost was actually there didn’t matter. It was comforting nonetheless. “I’m sure you already know all about her, Dakota. She’s Dillon’s sister. Small world, huh?” I chuckled to myself. “In any case, Jordyn finally bit the bullet and asked her to marry him. We’re all going to Cancun for the big day. So

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 518: Saturday Morning Breakfast

Cassandra’s POV The next morning, I woke up with the trip on my mind. Dillon was already up, probably making the kids his famous Saturday morning French toast. I wrapped myself in my robe and padded down to the kitchen. It was a bright, sunny morning, with the sunlight so bright on the snow, it made me squint. Without any clouds in the sky, it was chillier than usual. There was frost on the outside of the windows. Tulia and Jordie were seated at the kitchen island, kicking their feet, giggling as Dillon made a show of flipping the French toast. It was a sight that always warmed my heart. Dillon donned his ‘father of the year’ apron, a father’s day gift picked out by Jordie himself. He had French toast batter smudged on his left cheek. But he was in his element. There were few things that Dillon loved more than cooking his family a big breakfast on a lazy Saturday morning. “Where are the twins?” I asked, stifling a ya

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter  517: Congratulations!

Cassandra’s POV We all stared at one another. For a moment, no one said anything. It was Dillon who broke the silence. “I assumed you responded,” Dillon told me. “I assumed you did. She’s your sister,” I defended myself. “She’s your friend. And so is Jordyn,” Dillon replied. “You didn’t reply to the email, Stella?” Cameron said accusatorily. “No, I was working,” Stella quipped back. “So was I,” Cameron said. “Looking after our kids is work, Stell.” “Okay, everyone just…stop,” I said, holding up my hand. I couldn’t believe that NONE of us had replied. I glanced at my watch. It was almost midnight. The email had actually been sent that morning, our time, very early in the morning. I just hadn’t seen it until later. Which meant that it had been well over twelve hours since they’d sent it. “Dakota must be out of her mind by now,” Dillon said, shaking his head. “She probably think

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 516: Those Parents

Cassandra’s POV “Go, Jordie! Come on! You got this!” I was yelling at the indoor field, jumping up and down. Dillon gently placed his hand on my arm and shook his head. Sheepishly, I stopped shouting. Dillon and I had talked about this. It was so easy to get caught up in the soccer game, but we didn’t want to be ‘those parents’. I gave him a knowing nod. “Kill him. Get the ball. Run, Matthew. Faster! Use your head. Look around. Pass!” A parent beside us hollered at her son. ‘Kill him?’ I mouthed to Dillon. Good god. Some of the parents were really cut throat. These kids were only seven!Dillon chuckled. She was clearly one of ‘those parents’. I made a silent vow to never holler from the sidelines again. “Sorry. Sorry. We had a bit of an accident. Nothing serious. Just a, um, potty training issue.” We turned to see Stella and Cameron. Stella had Rose on her hip and Cameron had a disgruntl

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 515: We Rally

Jordyn’s POVI could hear Dakota getting Stanley up from his room. He was too big for a crib, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to move him into a big boy bed yet. He was growing up so fast, and we both wanted to cling onto every stage for as long as we could.“There’s my sleep man,” Dakota cooed from his bedroom. “Come on, love. Let’s go see Daddy. Then maybe we can get bundled up and go for a walk in the snow.”I glanced at my phone. No response yet.I wasn’t worried though. Short notice, yes.But they would come.Dakota and I had decided on a tropical wedding, to escape the cold chill of February. Dakota and I had been on a trip to Cancun right before Stanley was born, and we’d fallen in love with the Mexican paradise. We just wanted something small and intimate. No muss, no fuss. Just us and our closest friends on a beach, professing our vows to each other.I’d booked us all into a resort for a full week. We all had suites and a dedicated butler, as well as private plunge pools, and
