CAMILLA
All through my journey back to California, I was disturbed and feeling restless. I had a lot in mind that I couldn't process. I wanted to feel happy that I would be working in a hospital where my importance would be highly appreciated. I wanted to be happy that I had gotten a chance to live the kind of life I had been dreaming of but felt bittered instead. “Why was I feeling queasy and so frightened instead of feeling joyful? Why was I feeling this way? I looked at my children who were fast asleep in the car, Mira was laying her head on my lap while George leaned on her. They were so adorable that I wanted to stare at their sleeping faces all day. “How did I end up bringing these angels back to that monster's domain where their lives will be threatened? “Why were they here with me? I could have left them in London and come alone but I don't want a nanny raising them. Raymond, who knew about what happened between me and Lawrence back in California, had also kicked against the transfer. It took a lot of conviction to have him accept after I decided to give working in California a try. I planned to work in California for six months and then appeal to be transferred back to London. While I had this plan in mind, I prayed that I would be able to stay quiet without running into Lawrence until I went back to London. The car stopped in front of the penthouse cutting off my thoughts, the chauffeur helped me carry the luggage while I followed him, carrying my sleeping children with me.
I got settled in and thanked him as he left. Early the next morning, the ringing tone of my phone woke me up. I searched for the phone with sleepy eyes before answering the call, “Doctor Camilla on the line,” I said with drowsiness. I wasn't fully awake. “Doctor, we need you right now in the hospital. There is an emergency,” and I quickly snapped my eyes open. “What? I'll be right there immediately.” I quickly got up and rushed to get something else to wear. I looked at my phone, the time was still 4:20 a.m. Too early for me to go out, but I knew I had to. It was an emergency, after all. I rushed to Mira’s room, but her room was empty, only to find her in George’s room. They hugged each other as they slept on one big bed. They must have slept off while keeping each other company last night. I didn't want to disturb their sleep so I decided to leave and call them around 7 am when they would likely awaken to inform them I was in the hospital due to an emergency. With that in mind, I left the house and rushed to the hospital. To my advantage, the main road was free and I got to the hospital quicker than expected. “Dr. Camilla,” I announced when I got to the hospital gate. They quickly let me through.“Dr. Camilla is here!” Someone screamed and soon everyone was saying it, access was granted to me. I was surprised at how highly they carried me here.
It also seems that it was a wealthy and well-known man who needed the surgery because everyone seemed to be busy. They wore my hand gloves and prepared me for surgery, saying the patient was involved in an accident that destroyed some vital parts of his body. It sounded serious, but they had confirmed he was alive and was on life support. “Dr Myers!” I was shocked to see the man in front of me. He was the doctor who saved my babies years ago. A feeling of nostalgia washed over me as I remembered that day. “Please save him. Please,” he said with a choked voice. His eyes were teary. I could only nod, as I didn't know who was so important to Mr. Myers that he would shed tears. It might likely be his relative and I felt much obliged to save whosoever it was that was so important to him. I owed him that as someone grateful for what he did for me in the past. He saved my baby’s life, it was my turn to repay his kindness. I entered the emergency room with my assistant, who would be assisting me with the operation. I made my way to the bed where the patient lay. My eyes widened as I staggered back. The unconscious man before me was someone I never expected to see. It was Lawrence Knight, my ex mate.Memories flashed into my mind, and I almost felt like giving up on carrying out the operation. If only I knew it would be him, I wouldn't have bothered driving here early this morning.
"Mrs. Wilmer?" Dr Myers tapped my shoulder, bringing me back to reality. I looked at him, nodding my head with a heavy sigh. "I'll take over the operation." The other doctors paused while I dug my hand through the cutting they had made, he was involved in a gunshot accident. While staring at the monitor, I was able to trace the bullet with my fingers. It wasn't as easy as I expected, and I was being careful not to touch an organ to avoid rendering his life useless. It took me a lot of effort not to take my revenge at this slightest opportunity, I wouldn't want to let my emotions take over me. I felt my hand touch the object. Slowly – gently, I pulled it out of his body, dropping it on the metallic plate. I did my best to stitch it as quickly as possible so air wouldn't find its way in. As soon as I was done, I took the gloves out, and took off my mask, and I was keen to get the hell outta here. Desmond followed by, but I wasn't making any attempt to stop. "Camila. Camila." I kept walking, and he wouldn't stop either. He held my shoulder, bringing me to a stop. "Thanks for saving his life." He thanked me. "Just doing my job." "Hey, is everything alright? Your mood changed when you saw the victim. Have you two met before?" He asked,This was something I didn't want to discuss, it was only going to bring back memories and I don't like it.
I forced a smile on my face, which I obviously knew wasn't convincing. But I just needed to leave this place. "It's nothing. I only remembered an emergency case like this some time ago. I wasn't able to save the victim, so the memories just came and I was shocked by it." I heaved heavily. "Well, it's over. The operation is done successfully, the victim needs to rest." I started heading outside to contact my children. As I spoke to them on the phone, I felt tears in my eyes. Maybe, I was wrong to have helped save his life.CAMILLAI had woken up with regrets. Seeing Lawrence lying helpless on the hospital bed made me want him as good as dead. However, I turned out to be his superhero after all he's done to me.When I was done seeing my children, I kept them with my sister while I went to get a shower. I was almost late for work, and I wouldn't want Mr. Kimber, the hospital director yelling down the entire building at me.Thankfully, I escaped traffic and I was able to arrive at the hospital ten minutes earlier than the actual time. I headed for my office to start the day's job. A few minutes after I had walked in, Desmond stood by the door."Good morning," he greeted, drawing my attention.I waved a smile at him. "Hey, good morning.""How was your night?" He asked,I shoved the strands of my hair to the back, nodding my head. "It was fine but short.""Kids."I chuckled. "Not like I have a choice. So, how is the victim?" I asked, changing the topic. He shrugged his shoulders, walking in. "Still unconsci
Camila’s POVOn Informing Dr. Kimber of my readiness to become Lawrence's doctor there was a a mix of anticipation and uncertainty brewed within me because I wasn't too sure of what the outcome might be,Dr. Kimber, eyes wide with surprise, asked, "What changed your mind? You were quite unhappy and not interested in this initially."I hesitated, my voice faltering. "I'll be overseeing his post-surgery sessions regularly, and I can't help but feel a deep sympathy for all my patients. Seeing him fully recover is now my top priority. If that means becoming his doctor, then so be it."A smile spread across Dr. Kimber's face. "I knew your presence here In this hospital would be invaluable. Thank you, Mrs. Milwer."I forced a smile as he extended his hand across the exquisite desk in his office. Leaving his office, I walked down the hospital's elegant corridor towards my own office, thoughts swirling. Had I just made a decision that would turn my life into a nightmare? Could I still ensur
Camilla's POV"That's a brilliant idea. It'll help you get rid of him while you're still over there in California,"Raymond said, his voice oozing with conviction. I listened, my mind racing with possibilities. "I'm still considering the implications this might bring,"I replied thoughtfully. "I'll weigh every factor.""Alright,"he conceded, his tone subdued.Trying to shift my focus and attention from the turmoil swirling in my life, I asked, "How's your law firm progressing?"Raymond's voice coming a little bit louder and sounding much better he said "Practicing law in London is the best decision I ever made. My firm is now among the city's finest."I could hear the excitement in his voice and couldn't help but share in his joy. "I'm so happy for you, honey,"I said, my own happiness bubbling up."I need to get some rest for tomorrow,"I said eventually, and we bid each other goodnight.I switched off the bedside lamp and settled into my meticulously arranged bed, thoughts still s

You can request anything you wish," he added as soon as I sat down and he took his seat opposite me."I'm not here for all this. Can we go straight to the main reason you called me out here?It would benefit both of us if we didn't waste much time," I said, my tone commanding."Can you relax?" he replied immediately, not letting me finish."You have to go back to your pack and oversee the affairs. Likewise, I have to prepare for tomorrow, so can we make this snappy?""At least have something to eat," he pleaded as I reluctantly picked up the menu. "You look good," he complimented, attempting to start a conversation."Thank you, Lawrence, "I replied curtly. "So, what is it you need to tell me?"I continued as the waiter placed the food I had requested on the table."Thank you," I said to the waiter as he left. Lawrence had already been served, so
Camilla's POVWhat is Lawrence going to say? I wondered, pacing around my room in my nightdress, lost in my own thoughts. What would his reaction be? Would my children still be safe if he learned of their existence? My mind spun with questions and fear. My heart was restless, and sleep evaded me. Exhausted, I lay on the bed, my thoughts swirling. You be late for work, my sister's voice cut through my fog of worry, trying to wake me up immediately she entered the room in the morning,Struggling to rise, I mumbled, My headaches, from the side of the bed where I lay,You need to stop worrying so much about everything and everyone. Things will fall into place only when you're ready to take the bull by the horns, she said as I reluctantly pulled the duvet off my body to get up from the bed.I know what you're getting at, I replied, cutting her off. I need to tell you what Lawrence said when we met. I motioned for her to sit with me on the couch in the corner of the room. She sat down, her
Camilla's POV“I will do anything to prevent him from coming close to my family. I have to move on with my life; I can't return to my past,” I whispered to myself as I drove to the hospital. Today was the day of the surgery. We all gathered in the ICU. The evening was approaching, but I hardly noticed. The room was filled with the best doctors in the field, but my mind was still unsettled about the outcome I wished and hoped the moon goddess made this a success,“We will do our best to keep him alive,” one of the doctors assured me in the ward.“Thank you for reassuring me,” I replied, trying to mask my anxiety and hide the fear that had engrossed me.Hours into the transplant, Lawrence had already performed his duties in the process. He has played the role of being the donor.“You need some rest yourself,” a nurse said to him as he was taken for assessment and post-treatment.Unfortunately, it was the night of the full moon. As the moon rose higher, my worry grew. My son had werewol

Lawrence's POVAs I stood there, a figure approached, and it stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within me. "Bella?" I uttered, my curiosity and surprise evident. Her calm but forceful voice replied, "I have every right to be here. You have given me every opportunity to come back to this house."Confusion and disbelief clouded my mind. "What are you trying to say?" I questioned. With a sense of determination, she gestured for someone to step forward. "This is Mason, your son," she declared. The ground felt like it shifted beneath me. "How is this possible?" I gasped, my mind reeling from the revelation. Her words hit me like a lightning bolt. "I was two weeks pregnant before our separation. I managed to ask, my shock and confusion resonating in my voice. Her response brought a surge of conflicting emotions. "The el
