My entire body froze the moment our eyes met. My heart pounded heavily in my chest. How… how was she here?

For a moment, I thought I was hallucinating her again. Maybe the anesthesia had affected my mind. But it hadn’t... and I wasn’t imagining her either.

This time, it was real. That was Aliana.

“Aliana…”

Her name slipped from my lips, soft and careful, as if I was afraid that if I said it too loudly, she would disappear.
