Chapter 3

作者: South Twig
I pushed open the rosewood door. A crystal chandelier glittered overhead, while beneath my feet lay a priceless, handwoven rug.

The air was thick with the scent of premium agarwood, and the sheer luxury was almost suffocating.

The moment Kai saw what was inside, his eyes nearly popped out of his sockets. "Holy shit… How much is that painting on the wall worth?"

Eliana's eyes gleamed with greed. "Any one of those vases could probably buy our entire office building!"

Kai flashed me a lecherous grin. "Once this bitch gives Mr. Harlan a good time tonight, he might reward us with a few things from this suite!"

I leaned against the doorframe with a stoic expression.

My gaze swept over the enormous oil painting on the wall. The woman in it had gentle, delicate features. It was my mother.

Meanwhile, a family portrait was partially visible on the sandalwood table beside it.

Hugh noticed me staring intently at the oil painting and narrowed his eyes slightly. He warned me coldly, "Wipe that disgusting look off your face. A cheap whore like you only has any value because you happen to look a little like her."

When I remained unfazed, his patience ran thin, and he grasped my wrist. His lecherous gaze raked over my torn lingerie. "If he hadn't specifically asked for a virgin, I'd take you right here and now!"

A mocking smile tugged at the corner of my lips. "Is this how Tristan trains his men? Looks like someone really ought to throw you into the moat and teach you a proper lesson."

Hugh flew off the handle and raised his hand to slap me.

Just then, Kai gasped, "Wait… why does the girl in this photo look so much like you when you were little?" He reached out to grab the photograph.

"How dare you touch Mr. Harlan's belongings? Do you have a death wish?" A woman's shrill voice rang out.

In walked a woman teetering on four-and-three-quarter-inch red-bottomed stilettos—Vivian Kincaid. She was a partner at Harlan Group who had tried to seduce Dad. I had watched with my own eyes as Dad swept her out the door.

I never would have imagined that, after all her persistence, Dad had eventually taken her in after all.

However, the moment her gaze landed on my face, her arrogance instantly turned into venomous jealousy. "Your face…"

Vivian looked down at me and pinched my chin, her eyes filled with utter madness. "You're nothing but a lowly plaything, yet you have the nerve to carry yourself like you own the place. Now, get on your knees and answer me!"

I slapped her hand away, unable to hide the coldness in my eyes. "Get your filthy hands off me! Who the hell do you think you are to order me to get on my knees? Before you lay a finger on me, you'd better think very carefully about whether Tristan will chop you up and feed you to the fish!"

After hearing that, she was so furious that she cackled. Her face contorted with rage. "You've got some nerve!" she snarled before slapping me.

I jerked my head to the side. Her palm missed, causing her to stagger a step forward.

Vivian shrieked hysterically, "Who the hell do you think you are?"

I smiled. "What if I told you I'm the one woman Tristan could never have? Would you believe me?"

After all, he'd spent all these years begging me just to see me, and I had never once agreed. In a way, that counted as being unattainable, right?

As soon as the words left my mouth, a deathly silence blanketed the room.

Vivian froze for a split second before the malice in her eyes overflowed. "Let's see how you can still be the woman he can't have if I ruin you today! Get over here and hold her down!"

Kai lunged at me and pinned me against the cold marble floor. "Ms. Kincaid, please calm down. This bitch just doesn't know what's good for her! She's rotten to the core. Do whatever you want with her. If you cripple her, I'll take the blame!"

Eliana hurried after her and planted her foot firmly on the fingers I had braced against the floor. The pain shot straight to my heart, and cold sweat instantly soaked through my back.

Vivian sneered and picked up a box cutter. Slowly, she crouched down and lifted my chin with the cold back of the blade. "What unattainable love? It's only because you happen to have a face you never should have been born with!"

The cold blade dragged across my skin, sending a deathly shiver down my spine. A single drop of crimson blood slowly trickled down the silver blade before splattering onto the floor.

"Imagine how nice it would be if I carved the word 'slut' right into that pretty face of yours!" Vivian raised the box cutter high above her head, poised to drive it down with all of her strength.

With my life in danger, I tilted my head back and yelled at the top of my lungs, "Tristan Harlan, get your ass out here right now! If anything happens to me, you'll have to die with your eyes wide open!"

  • Drugged and Delivered to My Billionaire Dad   Chapter 12

Everyone assumed that the Harlan family and the Calloway family were about to join forces through marriage—a powerful alliance that would shake up Verdia's entire business landscape. But the very next day, standing before all the media, I calmly announced, "Mr. Calloway and I are just friends."Those few words caused Calloway Group's stock price to plummet and turned Lucian into the laughingstock of all Verdia. When he found me, his eyes were teary, and his voice was trembling. "Why did you say that, Abby?"I was trimming a bouquet of freshly delivered white roses. After hearing that, I didn't even look up. "Lucian, you waited for me for ten years, only to turn into another man like Dad?" He shuddered. I set my scissors down and looked up at him. "Didn't you deliberately leak the news about our marriage alliance just to use public opinion to pressure me into saying yes? Do you really think I'd like being manipulated like that?"Lucian's face instantly went as pale as a sheet o

I looked at Vivian preening in his arms and the morbid possessiveness in his eyes before bursting into laughter. I closed in on them, and under their stunned gazes, I raised my hand and poured the entire glass of wine over Vivian. She shrieked. The red wine streamed down her hair and cheeks, leaving her as bedraggled as a drowned rat. "You must be out of your mind!"I looked at Dominic coldly. "Do you really think I would dirty my own hands for trash like you? Dominic, you overestimate yourself, and you underestimate me. What you want is to conquer me. But in my eyes, you're not even worthy of being my opponent."I couldn't even be bothered to look at him again. I turned on my heel and left.Dominic roared behind my back, "Abigail Harlan, you'll regret this! You'll come crawling back to me!"I didn't look back. Regret? The biggest regret of my life was meeting Kai, trusting Eliana, and… developing feelings for a man named Dom on that street five years ago. …I never saw Domini

My brows drew together. Dominic? The name sounded familiar. Where had I heard it before? His name went off like a bomb in my mind. He was the mysterious business partner Kai had mentioned. He was also the poisonous snake lurking in the shadows, wanting to watch my family and me fall into the abyss together. I hadn't gone looking for him yet, and he had already come knocking at my door. Dad's expression darkened in an instant. The air around him became suffocating as well. "How dare some nobody who came out of nowhere demand to see my daughter?"He snorted, his eyes filled with undisguised murderous intent. "Look into Dominic's background, Hugh. I want to see for myself who gave him the guts." I stopped him. "I'll go, Dad. I want to ask him to his face what he's after. He went to such lengths to hand me such a big gift, so I want to know what he really wants."Dad fell silent when he saw the resolve in my eyes. He knew that after five years, the little princess he had once held

There was a locked diary on the vanity. I recognized it immediately. It was the birthday gift I had given Mom. Almost as if compelled by some unseen force, I reached out and gently brushed my fingers over the cover. I ran my fingers over the delicate brass lock. The combination was our birthdays. When I flipped open the yellowed pages, Mom's familiar and elegant handwriting came into view. "Abby was clinging to me again today, telling me that when she grows up, she wants to be my knight and protect me for the rest of my life. My little princess, my only wish is for you to live a peaceful, happy life.""Tristan has been very busy lately, but I know he has me and our family in his heart."The first half of the diary was filled with warm, ordinary moments. Each and every line was brimming with joy. However, the further I turned the pages, the more hurried and scribbled her handwriting became. Eventually, it trembled across the paper."My health's deteriorating, but the doctors

Vile rumors and obscene photoshopped images came surging in like a tidal wave. "Mr. Harlan, our PR department's phone lines are blowing up! The stock prices of every company partnered with Harlan Group are plunging. Someone's clearly coordinating this attack behind the scenes."Dad slowly rose to his feet, every word dripping with bloodlust. "The Langstons," he spat out. This was the Langstons' last-ditch effort to pin me to the pillar of shame and plunge my family into eternal damnation with public opinion. I looked into Dad's bloodshot eyes, and the frozen wasteland inside my heart suddenly cracked open under the heat of a raging fire. "Dad," I called out softly. My voice was hoarse as I said, "I'm tired."Dad's tall frame jolted, and the murderous intent in the depths of his eyes was instantly replaced by heartache. He carefully draped his suit jacket over my shoulders, his movements as gentle as though he were handling a priceless treasure. "I'll take you home right now,

  • Drugged and Delivered to My Billionaire Dad   Chapter 7

Dad looked at me, the remorse and heartache in his eyes so thick that it was almost tangible, threatening to consume him whole. "Hear me out, Abby—"I sneered and cut him off, staring straight at Mom's portrait, my voice laced with shards of ice. "What do you want to tell me? That you loved her so much, only to turn around and crawl into bed with another woman? Tristan, do you honestly think I'll still believe you?" Every word I uttered was like a blade, drawing blood as it viciously sliced into the softest part of his heart. His tall frame suddenly swayed, as though the weight of my words had become too much for him to bear. Then, with a heavy thud, he dropped to his knees onto the cold marble floor before me. "It's not what you think, Abby. That affair five years ago was a setup! I didn't do anything. I've never betrayed your mother!"I shuddered, staring at him in disbelief. His voice was painfully hoarse, every word sounding as though it had been forcibly squeezed out f
