Chapter 2

SASHA'S POV

I shivered in fear, when I heard the sound of the gun being shot in my direction. It almost felt like I was shot, but I felt nothing like aches within me. That shot had made me frozen, but I immediately got myself and continued my race.

That shot gave me a new speed. I ran like the wind. Only that my life was at stake and I was trying everything to get away from these men.

The flashes of light flashing in my direction. I wonder if they knew exactly where I was. But I wasn't ready to be caught.

I kept running for my life while these men kept chasing me with their guns. I ran, until my legs came weak again. I couldn't run any more. I stopped, panting close to a big tree.

"I can't go on," I panted out, feeling my body shivering.

Heard rustling sounds coming closer. I immediately hid behind the big tree. Shutting my mouth so they won't hear me panting.

The flashes of their torch increased. Indicating how near they were to me. My heart is pounding, wondering if they're going to see me. Didn't know what to do...

"What's this?" I felt something behind me on the tree. I couldn't see properly in the dark, but I could still feel.

My hand touched the tree I was leaning on and noticed there's a big hole below to the ground. I  felt a sigh of relief on feeling this. I hope you can fit in.

Without waiting, I lowered myself down and slowly moved back into this hall. Surprisingly, my entire body went into this hole. I quickly took cover, not minding what I was stepping on.

"Move this way." I heard the voice of a male right outside the tree. My heart skipped on hearing the voice. It showed how close they were to me now.

I saw how their lights lingered around. Heard them talking to themselves. Murmuring that they couldn't find me. "Please go away," I prayed within. Hoping they'll go back since they couldn't find me. But I was wrong.

"We aren't going back until we find that woman. She has seen too much. Let's move it!" A deep voice decided the others.

And that was it. They didn't leave. They kept on with their search for me, moving ahead into the woods to look for me. I felt my body shivering after hearing their decision. This means I can't leave this spot. I don't know who's close by or on the road with my car. I just can't go anywhere.

I made myself comfortable where I was, because the position I was in was killing my back. I dragged myself up a bit and sat on something that felt like a rock.

"This isn't how I wanted my night to go. God! How I wish I took that bridge when I was still at the hospital. By now I wouldn't be facing this," I groaned, almost in tears.

I recurred the face of the man they had shot down. His head fell to the ground, visible for me to see due to the lights from the cars there. I felt like throwing up just imagining it, but I held myself.

"My phone. Let me see if I can reach out to the police for help," I suggested. Checking my pocket for my phone.

I found it, took it out and dialed the nine, one, one emergency line. I took my phone to my ear, but there's no service. Tried several times, but still no service. "Goddamn it!" I got angry. Breaking into tears all of a sudden. I just want to go home.

.

Darkness all around me, I sensed the presence of those men close by. I started running, but couldn't tell where exactly I was running to. The sky is dark, with no trace of the moon to shine its light upon the earth, or the stars to give the dark sky a rare view. It was pure darkness.

I kept running to nowhere in particular. Until I heard a gunshot and stopped. The sky became bright again, and a light came shining upon me. I could see myself in the dark. But I wasn't myself. I was bloody.

I gasped, staring at my bloody chest, until...

BANG!

"NO!" I screamed out. Opening my eyes immediately. It's morning already. The morning light came, shining bright into the tree where I was hiding.

I could hear the birds singing out in the woods, and squirrels chirping around. "Geez! It was a dream. Oh, my head hurts," I groaned, rubbing my eyes.

Seeing it's morning, I had a feeling those men would have returned back by now. There's no way that they would have stayed up all night. They must have returned back already.

(Unknown to Sasha, the men are still in the woods looking for her. They couldn't rest, they were tired all night, but kept on looking for Sasha. They had no time to rest. Their goal was to find her.)

I managed to drag myself up from where I sat on the rock. My waist was hurting and I couldn't wait to get away from the woods. I placed my hands on this rock I've been sitting on. About lifting myself up, I looked down and realized I've been sitting on a dead tortoise. "Gross!" I freaked out, jumping out from the tree and straight on the ground.

The shining light almost blinded me, so I had to cover my face immediately. I dimmed my eyes, before I could see clearly. The woods, so bright thanks to the sun.

I groaned out, standing up and stretching my body out. I shifted my waist to its right position, looking around from my point.

The chirping sound of the squirrels on the tree got me looking. I had my eyes around this beautiful sight of nature. But I wasn't ready for nature, but my life.

Looking around, I could see how calm the area was looking. It seems those men have gone back. "This is good. They're gone. I have to escape now," I decided, seeing everything is fine.

Getting my strength back, I retraced my step back from the big tree. I walked carefully into the woods, trying to locate my way out. I know it was at night when I ran through these paths, but I'm sure I can still figure my way out.

Just as I'm making my way out of the woods, I heard the sound of cars honking. I'm getting closer to the road. "Finally!" I felt relieved, walking fast.

I found myself climbing up to the hilly part of the woods, almost getting to the top. Only to realize something.

"Got you!" A manly voice said from behind, grabbing my hair. I yelled when I felt the grip. Turning around to see one of those huge men from last night, holding me. I thought they were all gone. But I was wrong. They've been here in the woods all along.

"So, you thought you could run away and we won't find you?" The huge man scoffed at me, with his glaring eyes fixed right on me.

My heart was pounding with fear. I tried to break free from his grip, but he was just too strong. And I didn't want to pull that hard or I'll lose my scalp. "Please, let me go. I promise, I won't tell anyone what I saw," I begged. Trying to remove this giant's hand from me.

But he didn't listen to me. The next thing I hear is a whistle. I directed my eyes behind this man, just to see the others coming. All having their guns in their hands, as they matched towards me. I am beginning to tremble. What can I do?

"Please, don't kill me," I pleaded with the fellow holding me. Still trying to set myself free.

This giant tossed me into the arms of another man, who's less huge, but still muscular. He turned me around and immediately tied my hands from behind.

"Get her into the car," The huge man ordered.

My heart is pounding at his command. Are they taking me to where I'll be killed? My fear took over my heart.

I watched as one of them moved ahead of us. The men dragged me along, all putting on a serious face. I kept looking at their faces, unable to cry out but beg for Mercy.

A car came closer to us. I was immediately tossed into the car by the man who tied me up. Two of them sat beside me in the car, and another sat in front. "Let's go," The one at my left said.

The car immediately drove from that place and straight on the road.

I was already thinking of my last day here on earth, until I was left stunned on seeing a mansion coming into view. I stayed at this building, as the car pulled up into the premises of this large building.

I was dragged out of the car and brought before a handsome, young man, sitting on a couch with a gun. Looking at him, he looked just like a Mafia Lord. Or is he?
