POLLEN'S POV

From the corner of the living room where I sat, I watched my mother and younger sister dance about. The DNA result was out, and my baby's father turned out to be Raymond, as expected. What I didn't understand was their jubilation. What exactly were they celebrating? Was the fact that I was going to be yoked with a total stranger, or that my affiliation with an icy douchebag like Raymond would cause money to rain in their lives? It pissed me off even more as I thought of it. None of them were this happy when I graduated from college, neither was there a trail of excitement when I got my first job.

My mother must have felt my eyes digging holes in her back because she stopped in her tracks and spun to meet the look of unaltered disgust on my face. Slowly, she walked to me whilst her grin faded.

“ What is it?” She asked, drawing Laura's attention as well.

“ I don't understand you people. What is so great about this?” I whined.
