I WAS FLUSTERED and frozen for minutes after Adriano left. The kiss on my hand still lingered in my mind, and it made me weak and unable to move as I sat at my desk, thinking.

I knew taking in Iris Mancini was a bad idea, considering the history between me and her father. And I could not deny the sexual tension that sparked between us; he had made it perfectly clear that he would never forget what happened between us, and truthfully, neither would I. But between Adriano and my ex-husband, there were not many differences. They were both wealthy, cold and emotionally detached, and I had vowed to myself never to be caught up with someone like that again.

My phone buzzed and I looked at it. A message from Nick confirming that we were still on for the evening.
