Fiona bit her lip as she stood in a corner in the elevator, thinking back about Jasmine's gasping on the phone call. She was berating herself for making the call. Not that she had to guess, but she was certain Jasmine must be on her way to the hospital to meet Kyle.
Although it freaked her out, she had to let Kyle know. Because according to Kyle's plans, Jasmine was not supposed to leave the house at all. Not until her husband was made to sign the
172"I'll end this tonight. I'll go on my knees if that's what I have to do to seek her forgiveness. I'll tell her the truth too. No, I won't tell her the truth. I'll do something else. But tonight, I'll make us get back together." He actually felt good just by talking it out. Kyle couldn't wait to enact it.He was five minutes away from home when he noticed the meter."Shit, I'm running out of gas." He muttered and took a different route. He arrived at the gas station. Kyle got away for a minute to attend a call. When he returned, his car was ready to drive. He paid and sat inside. He was sitting in pin drop silence. Kyle usually liked to listen to songs on his way home. But these past few days, he embraced silence as it gave him time to think. It was that usual moment of silence when Kyle noticed something— A recurring beep as if a timer was on.He avoided it until a point came when his body suddenly went into caution mode as the beeping sound was the only sound he could hear. His m
171"I'll hire another lawyer who is more loyal and understanding." Kyle spat. "More loyal?" Falcon sneered. "... And understanding? Wow." He got up. "Asshóle, if it was some other guy, he would have already brainwashed Jasmine and convinced her to elope with him. But I... I took care of her behind your back. I made her believe you were really busy with work.""That I was, asswípe. I wasn't lying about that.""Yeah, you only just didn't go home." Kyle looked down. He was indeed busy. He ought to be, after all, he was the youngest richest man in the country. He had tons of work to do. But not going home, that wasn't part of the job. It was his wrong choice. "And I'm regretting it, okay." Kyle grumbled. "But what else could I have done? You... Damn," Kyle slapped the desk. "None of you can understand my situation. What I was going through... What I was thinking... None of you can ever imagine.""I didn't come today to listen to your sob story." Falcon said with disinterest, earning a
170She covered her head with a shower cap and allowed herself to take a body shower. She was so severely spent today that she didn't even have the energy to dry her hair. Not that it made any difference because in the morning she had to shower again to go to work. This seemed better even. After deciding that this is how she was going to keep her bath routine, she came out after removing the shower cap. Jasmine sat on her side of bed at the edge. She was wondering about Kyle. 'Forget it, Jasmine!' She was annoyed beyond the point of tolerance. She pushed the blanket apart to sleep in it and leaned down. She felt a body beneath her and suddenly sat up straight with a yelp. She reached out for the button of the lamp. "Jesus! Who is..." Jasmine trailed off as the light filled the room dimly. Her body kind of stuttered as her eyes focused on Kyle's gorgeous face. He was sleeping on her side. He was on his belly and holding a pillow under his arm. His silky hair caught the light in th
169"There are so many things I want to say and confess. I would have said it last night but you fell asleep before I came." Kyle moved in closer, making his chest press to the side of her breast and cover her arm fully. He would have gotten on top of her if he so much as moved an inch. "So, is it my fault that I fell asleep?" Jasmine's voice was laced with resentment. "Erm, no." Kyle stared at her with a frozen look. Her voice was colder than what he was prepared for. "I'm saying—" "You never came home since we had that unfortunate marriage. I developed the habit to go to sleep early. It's not my fault if I fell asleep before you came. And oh, care to remind me if I was told that you're going to come home today?" "Jasmine, I know I deeply hurt you but now—" "Gosh, it's ten past eight. I'm late. Excuse me, Kyle. I have to be at my shop. Today is Friday, how could I sleep in late?" Jasmine exhaled a breath in fake astonishment before she removed Kyle's hand and disappeared into the
168Jasmine entered her room with that heavy feeling in her chest. She thought of all the worst things that might have come to overwhelm Kyle. She also imagined him as a little boy in a dark room, sobbing in a corner. Then she saw a woman with a wicked grin that opened the door, filling the room with light and causing that little boy to pull a hand across his face. Jasmine gulped as her mind compelled her to see the woman producing a stick. She grinned, ready to assault the poor boy. The little boy peeked through his fingers and shivered. Jasmine immediately distracted herself. She looked around and named five tangible objects in the room before she entered the balcony. She described how the night sky appeared... A technique her mother taught her to distract her mind and bring her focus back. The images were disturbing, though. And perhaps that's how it happened. Jasmine had heard that monsters aren't born. They are made. And perhaps Kyle's stepmom made him the way he was today...
167Jasmine's POV The second time I came around, Kyle wasn't sitting beside me. "Jasmine, oh god! I'm so so sooooooo happy!" There was Birdie instead. She moved towards me violently to wrap her hands around me when I heard a loud cough. "Careful, Birdie! She just woke up. Don't harm her." Mari was standing at the foot of the bed with her folded. "Girls," My lips turned up to see them. "I missed you both sooo freaking much.""We too, Jasmine." They both grinned between twinkling eyes. Seeing them in tears filled my chest with sunshine, which later on spread to my whole body. "Come here quickly!" I gushed and extended my arms out. They ran into my arms and embraced me carefully. We stayed there for a while as our breathing deepened. "We were so worried, Jasmine. We would come every day hoping that we'll see you awake. I'm so glad it's finally happened." Birdie sobbed near my shoulder. "Me too. The house looked really dull without you, Jasmine. It was very difficult to breathe w
121Jasmine's POV. "Mr. Falcon, that is Jasmine. Kyle sir's guest. I think you shouldn't be here in his absence because sir told me to not let any stranger—""Guest! Kyle didn't tell me he has..." Falcon blinked his eyes to shake the mist off his gaze as he licked his lips in a smitten sort of way
