Chapter 35: Flying to the ground

Anna POV….

I stood outside Damien’s room, waiting for the command before taking my next step.

“Is he gone?” I asked Louis, who stood by the window watching Damien.

“He’s about to get into the car. He’ll be gone soon,” he replied, his voice as low as mine.

He watched for a moment longer before turning to me. “He’s gone. You can go in now,” he said with a nod. Without waiting another second, I slipped the door open and stepped inside.

How did I manage to get in? Well, that’s a story for another day.

“I’ll stay here and alert you if there’s any danger,” Louis said firmly. I nodded before shutting the door behind me and locking it from within.

I gave the room a quick glance, then sprang into action.

“Look for the envelope and the sword under his bed. If they’re not there, check the wardrobe. They’ve got to be in one of those places,” Louis’s words echoed in my mind.

I stopped and looked at him.“What do you mean by that?” I stared, waiting for a response. He didn’t answer. Instead, he smiled and stepped closer.“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”He was so close I could feel his breath on my neck.“I hope you’re not just messing with me, you scornful jerk. Are you saying this to keep me around?” I snapped, already fed up with his nonsense.“You know we still have a score to settle.”I pushed him back, irritated by his closeness.“I still have to deal with you—for everything you did to me, for how badly you messed me up.”The pain surged like a flood, and I barely held back the tears.“You’re going to let me leave, and you won’t stop me. Do you understand?” I glared at him, then turned to go.“The secret… what you really want to find in my brother’s room,” he said. His words cut thr

Not because I was afraid of alerting anyone—but because I simply didn’t want to.I made it up the stairs, and when I finally reached the top, I took a deep breath, exhausted.Catching my breath again, I continued walking. I was desperate to get into my room and shut the door behind me.I took my first step inside.“Hey!”I froze. A deep, muscular voice called from behind me. I wanted to ignore it and keep walking, but I couldn’t.I hissed under my breath before turning around to face the voice.Louis stood not far from me, his face glowing with a wide smile. Of course, it was him. I wasn’t surprised—I already knew.I stared, unwilling to stir up more trouble. I wasn’t even sure this was the same Louis I used to know. He had done enough to prove he wasn’t—but then, what was the point of more qu

Chapter 32: Run AlongFaint voices echoed in my ears as I struggled to open my eyes. Slowly, the voices grew clearer—it was the sound of women speaking. After what felt like countless failed attempts, I finally managed to pry my eyes open. Everything was blurry, but I could just make out the figures of three women standing in front of me.I rubbed my eyes, trying to bring my surroundings into focus. And then, everything snapped into clarity. It was Emma and the twins—and they were all wearing dangerous smirks on their faces.Startled, I instinctively shifted backward. That’s when I realized I was lying helplessly on the floor. My body trembled as it pressed against the cold surface, sending a chill straight through me.I glanced around. The room was small, its brown walls aged and dusty. It looked like a place forgotten by time, filled with old objects that could easily belong in a museum. An ancient fan dangled from the sagging ceiling, and a single chandelier light flickered dimly i
