CHAPTER 84

Melina sat in the courtroom, listening to the prosecution's opening statement. The prosecutor laid out the case against Dominic, painting him as a cold-blooded killer who had murdered her aunt for money.

Melina closed her eyes and tried to block out the prosecutor's words. She knew they were all lies.

The prosecution called their first witness, a man who claimed to have seen Dominic arguing with Barbera on the day of the murder.

The man testified that he had been walking past the church when he saw Dominic and Barbera arguing in the parking lot. He said that Dominic had seemed very contentious and looked like he was out for blood.

Melina shook her head in disbelief. This man was clearly lying.

The defense tried to discredit the witness, but the prosecution's case was strong. They had more witnesses who claimed to have seen Dominic at the scene of the crime, and they had forensic evidence that linked him to the murder weapon, a bottle of poison.
