I was still on the bed, staring at the door when Hope burst back into the room. From the look of excitement on her face, I could already tell how the phone call went.

“Good news, babe!” she sang, hopping on the bed beside me and shaking my arm.

“What?” I mumbled, not really in the mood for more surprises.

“Dad said yes. You start work tomorrow!”

I lifted my head so fast, I almost sprained my neck. “Wait! tomorrow?!”

She nodded, smiling way too wide. “Yup! I just got off the phone with him now. I asked him to put you on and you know he can’t say no to me. He agreed and said you could start immediately or tomorrow. That felt more convenient to me.” She let out excitedly.

I blinked. I don’t know why I was surprised. Of course Tony would agree if Hope asked. She has this way of talking to him like he’s both her dad and her best friend. She doesn’t tiptoe around him the way I do. She just dives in, full confidence, and somehow always gets her way.
