The car pulled up in front of Bennett Industries, its sleek frame gleaming under the morning sun.

“We’re here, Miss Bennett,” the driver said, bringing the vehicle to a smooth stop before the towering glass building.

Chloe inhaled deeply, her mind replaying her practised speech. The moment felt heavier than it should have.

A bodyguard stepped out from the front seat, opening the door for her. Two more cars rolled up behind hers — Damien had spared no effort regarding her safety.

As Chloe stepped out, she spotted her mother waiting near the entrance, elegant as ever, her arms crossed and her expression unreadable.

“Thanks for coming, Mom,” Chloe said quietly, adjusting her coat. “I couldn’t do this alone.”

“Anytime, honey.” Miranda's tone was gentle, but firm. “Let’s get this over with.”

They entered the building and immediately Chloe felt a wave of nostalgia.

It had been months since she stepped foot in the company — a company that once should have been hers.

Damien’s footsteps echoed as he stepped into the penthouse. His jaw was tight, his hands still twisting from the gun he’d pointed at James Bennett. He’d walked out of that house without pulling the trigger, but only for Chloe’s sake. The moment he entered, something felt off. There was silence. Too much of it.He glanced around. “Chloe?”But there was nothing. He reached onto the coffee table for his phone. He had left it back home because he didn’t want the endless phone calls from everyone who would have tried to stop him from going to James. When the phone lit up, he saw it — seventeen missed calls from Chloe. Four from Sebastian. One message flashing like a siren across his screen.SEBASTIAN: SOS. I think Chloe’s in danger. Call me NOW.His chest tightened. He spun around to one of the bodyguards stationed by the door.“Where is Miss Bennett?” He asked. The man stiffened. “In her room, sir.”Damien was already moving. He slammed open the door to their room.It was empty. Panic cr

The smell of tobacco curled through the air like smoke from a battlefield. Carlisso Cross sat behind his old mahogany desk, sleeves rolled up, a lit cigarette balanced between his fingers, and a glass of scotch untouched at his side.He didn’t look up when Damien walked in. He just kept reviewing the ledgers in front of him.“You wanted to see me?” Damien asked.Carlisso finally raised his eyes — those dark, calculating eyes that saw everything and gave away nothing.“Sit down, son.”Damien sat. “Where are Sebastian and Marcel?”“No, it’s just you today,” Carlisso said smoothly.“You know, Damien,” he began, “Power is the most important thing a man can have. It buys loyalty. It demands respect. It silences enemies.”Damien watched him silently.Carlisso continued, tapping ash into a crystal tray. “Without power, a man is weak. And weakness is a sin — one the world doesn’t forgive.”Damien shifted in his seat. “Okay. But… isn’t there more than that?” he asked, eyes narrowing. “Somethin

Amani sat on the armrest of Ryan’s leather couch, a glass of wine in her hand but untouched. Her foot tapped against the floor in a steady rhythm, her eyes locked on Ryan, who stood by the window, his back to her.“She’s pregnant,” Amani said.Ryan turned slowly, as if he hadn’t heard right. “What?”Amani took a sip, then let the silence hang. “Chloe. I saw her at the hospital earlier today. She didn’t say it outright, but she was holding her stomach like it was made of glass. Protective. Maternal.”Ryan scoffed. “That doesn’t mean—”“She was coming out of the maternity wing,” Amani cut in, voice sharp. “Carrying a pamphlet. New Mother’s Guide or something equally obvious.”Ryan’s hands curled into fists at his sides.Amani leaned forward, her tone softening just enough to sound dangerous. “She’s carrying Damien’s baby.”The words cracked something in him.“No,” he muttered. “No. She wouldn’t—”“She would,” Amani said, her tone now laced with bitter amusement. “She has. She moved on,

The knock echoed across the quiet room, Ryan wasn’t expecting anyone. He stood, grabbing his bottle of whiskey, dusting crumbs of snacks off his shirt. He opened the door—and time stopped. There stood Marcel. His father.Alive, free and unannounced.“Hello, son.” Marcel smiled.Ryan’s fingers loosened against the doorknob. He didn’t move, he couldn’t.Marcel tilted his head. “You gonna invite me in or keep gawking like you’ve seen a ghost?”Ryan still didn’t speak. His father gave a tired chuckle. “Seriously, what is it with people today? That’s the third wide-eyed stare I’ve gotten.”He brushed past Ryan and stepped inside like he owned the place.“Nice place,” he said, glancing around. “Could use some music, though. Or a dog.”Ryan turned slowly. “How... How is this possible?”“Oh!, Your uncle Sebastian dropped me off. He’s outside in the car. I told him we needed a moment alone.” Marcel wandered further in. “Besides… Sebastian’s got that ‘disciplinary headmaster’ vibe. Kinda kills

The silence was thick as Damien and Sebastian stood at the entrance of the suite, staring at the last person they'd hoped to see. Neither of them moved. Neither of them blinked. Marcel sat like a ghost resurrected. Then took another slow sip of scotch, before setting the glass down and looking up with a smirk. "Is that any way to welcome your little brother?" For a moment, silence fell across the room. Then Damien broke first, he surged forward, pulling Marcel into a hug so tight it felt desperate. "You bastard," he muttered. "You actually made it out." Sebastian joined them, his hand clapping Marcel's back. "You look like hell." "And you two look like you've been living in it," Marcel said, his lips twitching into a grin. Their grip around him tightened even more. "Oh, okay guys," Marcel choked. "Can I breathe?" He said. When they finally pulled back, it was like none of them quite knew what to say. Damien's voice was the first to cut the silence again. "How? Ric
