Back For My Dumbie

"You are insane on the rink, man!"

"Dante, I love you!!"

The cheers and excited chatterings surrounded me but my eyes were glued onto her, the grin on my face slowly fading away as I watched Bloom put her arm around Hunter and help him off the rink.

She wasn't looking at me anymore but she was definitely still going to look back at me, definitely...

I was wrong. She didn't look back at me at all and the grin on my face completely vanished, my brows now arching as I fixated my gaze on them.

The compliments around me seemed like background noise and I made a move to skate towards the medical station.

If she wasn't going to acknowledge me, I would show up right in front of her and make sure she can't ignore me.

I couldn't help it. I wanted to get close to her already, breathe in her scent and feel her skin. I wanted to see her beautiful face closer and hear her voice even if it was going to be her yelling at me in that way I found so fucking cute.

I had to get close to her already.

But before I could get any close to the medical station, Jason stopped in front of me. He was a Bleerds defender and also worked for the Alpha of the pack.

"Congratulations" His words were almost robotic. I flashed him a look that told him to go on with whatever he had to say.

"The Alpha wants to see you." He conveyed the message and I lowered my head before chuckling, taking the necklace out of my mouth.

"I will go see him when I wish to"

"The Alpha is waiting in his car outside and he wouldn't like to be kept waiting by his son" Jason said in that same robotic tone of his.

I looked over his shoulder at the medical station. She was gone. Bloom and Hunter weren't there anymore. It was just Daria and a few other players.

My gaze darted back to Jason sharply and I pretty much glared at him for a few seconds before dropping my helmet to the rink floor.

"Lead the way"

"Sure"

In less than three minutes, we were away from the noise of the arena and were now walking towards a black car.

Every step I took closer to that car made something dark rise inside of me. I had thought that by now, after six years, I would be able to control better the hatred and anger I felt towards that man, that I would be able to hold back the urge to tear him apart, butcher him and leave his body without dignity.

I was wrong. I hadn't even seen his face and all that anger and hatred was taking over me.

Jason pulled open the car door and I got in. He was seated right there, clothed in a black suit with a frown on his face. He had grown way older since the last time I saw him but seeing him older didn't make me feel any sort of affection for him, if anything, it made me more confident that his wolf had grown slower, weaker and the man in front of me was going to be easy to kill.

"You finally show up to the pack after six years away and you couldn't come see your father first, instead you come straight to a match..." He glanced down at my hand that was still clutching Bloom's necklace. "You came here because of her?"

"She is none of your business" I slid the necklace into my pocket, now looking him right in the eyes. He chuckled, with a calmness that deeply angered me.

"After six years away, you come to see a girl first rather than your own father, your only family"

"What do you have to say to me?" The words came through my teeth.

"I came here to see my son. To see how well you have grown"

"You have, now. Goodbye" I reached to push the door open but his words stopped me.

"Why? Why did you suddenly leave without a word?" He shrugged his shoulders. "I know you have always disliked me but you suddenly leaving, why?"

Then he let his gaze settle on me, intensely. I watched him readjust himself. "What did you find that night?" He asked the actual question that had brought him here.

I let my angry expression fade away, even as the memory of the night that decided my leaving flashed across in my head. I slowly smirked.

"Why are you so curious, Father?" I laid emphasis on the last word, making it an obvious mockery. "Are you scared that others will find out what I have found out and realise their good old Alpha isn't so nice?"

His jaws clenched visibly and he tightened his grip around the hat he was holding.

"Why are you back?" His voice sounded like he struggled to ask the question.

"You should try and make a guess, Alpha"

"You have only two options here, Dante. Be good, follow my rules and you will stand the chance to become the next Alpha or you leave, vanish away from this Pack and leave things exactly the way they have been."

"Alpha Carlisle" I called and placed a hand on his knee like I was comforting him. "I will tell you exactly what I am here for. I am back for what is rightfully mine, the position of the Alpha and no one can stop me from getting it. With all respects due, not even you Alpha Carlisle"

I watched as his face shook slightly with anger and I decided that I was done with this conversation.

I pushed open the car door.

"Have a lovely drive back" I said and stepped out of the car. Jason was standing just a few steps away and he approached the car the moment he saw me leave.

I stopped and watched him get into the driver's seat and a few seconds later, the car moved.

I slipped my hand back into my pocket and felt the necklace in my pocket.

I was back for the position of the Alpha but even more than that, I was back for her.

Perhaps this wasn't going to be easy but I knew one thing for sure. I, Dante Romano never ever lost and I would not lose any.

Not my position. Not my plans. And certainly, most especially not Bloom, my Dumbie.
