I draw a sharp breath from between my teeth.

“Was the bump a pay back for all the times I have given you a boner in public?”

His jaw drops and he takes a step back, clearly not sure what to make of my sudden change of subject.

“What…?”

I roll my eyes and continued to trudge forward, not caring if he followed me or not. Although a small smile blooms on my face when he does follow me.

“I would have said a bunch of low stuff like you just did, but that is for people who are ashamed of something. I have nothing to be ashamed of. Yes, I did run away, yes, I will run away if something happens here. Whatever you think of me after that is solely, your concern.” I shrug, pushing the doors of the McDonald’s open.

The place is exactly what you would imagine a town full of older people who went to bed by seven would look. Empty, save for the random teenagers that littered the space, they don’t look up when their town’s priest walks in.
