Freckles stood there, frozen as soon as she said that. Her heart was beating so fast inside her chest and she began to wonder if this was not a terrible idea. The boys were laughing, and all of them who had joined got the gist and were pointing at her. Despite her glaring at them, they refused to stop as they kept on teasing her. The new guys were saying things like, “What’s she doing here?” and “Is she lost?” and “This isn’t ballet practice, girl.”

Instead of running and crying at their ridiculous comment, she walked to them with the aim of putting an end to the insult.

She walked right into their middle and looked at Zade. She stood tall, even though her legs felt weak and she was short
