Over the next few days, Giuliano did not show his face again. Yet no matter where I went, I sensed men in black suits shadowing me from a distance.

The day Mamma was discharged, I booked a flight to Thornwick. That was where the company's next tour stop was.

Salvatore knew nothing of what had happened between us. When he saw I was leaving, he arranged for Giuliano to drive me to Blackport International.

Over the next few days, Giuliano did not show his face again. Yet no matter where I went, I sensed men in black suits shadowing me from a distance. The day Mamma was discharged, I booked a flight to Thornwick. That was where the company's next tour stop was.Salvatore knew nothing of what had happened between us. When he saw I was leaving, he arranged for Giuliano to drive me to Blackport International.I did not refuse. The moment I got in the car, I put on my sunglasses and closed my eyes. I did not open them until the car stopped outside the terminal. My hand had just found the door handle when Giuliano leaned over from the driver's seat. He grabbed my hand and held on with everything he had. The pain on his face was unbearable to look at."Aria, please stay. I'll give you the entire Falcone family. I can't do this without you."I peeled his fingers away, slowly and calmly."I loved you too those 5 years. I loved you so much I almost turned down the invitation from Bellavist

  • Fled to Bellavista   Chapter 12

In 3 years abroad, I toured with the company through Thornwick, Montecara, and Kastellheim. After seeing the world beyond Blackport, I realized how foolish I had nearly been, almost giving up the stage for a mafia heir.Three years later, Mamma was rushed into surgery for acute appendicitis. I caught a red‑eye back to Blackport. At a high‑end private hospital in the city, I found her recovering from the minimally invasive procedure."Aria? What are you doing back?" She was stunned and overjoyed at once.Once I confirmed she was alright, I let out a breath of relief. I was about to step out to drop off my luggage when I opened the door and walked straight into the last person I wanted to see.It was Giuliano.Three years had sharpened him. He was harder, darker, and the authority he carried pressed down on everyone around him like a physical weight. His eyes were rimmed with red as he seized my wrist."Aria, you're finally willing to come back."I had no interest in causing a s

By the time I heard the mafia heir had run from his own wedding of the century, I was already sitting in an open‑air café in Bellavista, sipping an espresso.Mamma was rambling over the phone. "Aria, the moment you left, Giuliano bolted from the wedding! Your stepfather is furious."The Moretti family nearly pulled their guns, and Viviana was so upset she had to be taken to the hospital. You don't think he—"I froze for a second, then let out a quiet laugh. "There's no way. A mafia standoff, maybe. But running from a wedding for me? Not a chance."By the time I hung up, it was already late at night in Bellavista.Another overseas call came through almost immediately. It was Giuliano.I had no intention of answering, yet Mamma was still under the Falcone roof. I slid the phone open."Aria! Who the fuck gave you permission to leave? I told you to wait for me at the estate!"His voice on the other end was shredded raw. The background was nothing but the sound of glass shattering.

Luxury cars lined the street outside St. Aurelius Cathedral. Security was locked down to the last inch.A few of Giuliano's inner circle huddled around him, their voices low."Boss, the day's finally here. Think Aria's gonna show up and crash the wedding?""She doesn't have the guts. She's been dead quiet lately. Probably accepted her fate."Giuliano stared at the chat on his phone. There was not a single reply. An irritation he could not explain crawled under his skin."Tell the boys outside to keep their eyes wide open. I want them on Aria at all times. She's been too quiet. I don't trust it."His men thumped their chests in assurance. "You got it, Boss."Giuliano's brow was locked tight. The revenge against Mamma was real. Yet the thought of everyone pointing at my back and tearing me apart sent a sudden, irrational fury through him."After the wedding, I'll tell that woman myself. Nobody makes a move today. This is the Falcone‑Moretti alliance ceremony."As the ceremony w

After the official acceptance letter arrived from the Bellavista Royal Ballet, I booked a flight for March 21st.I told Mamma and Salvatore about the opportunity abroad.Mamma's eyes turned red. "Aria, how could you make a decision this big without talking to me? You've never been outside the country."I wrapped my arms around her and kept my voice light. "Mamma, becoming a principal dancer is my dream. You should be proud. I'm 23 years old. I can't spend my whole life hiding in the Falcone estate like a flower in a greenhouse."Salvatore was supportive. "It's a good thing when a child has ambitions. Aria, the family will provide you with the best resources. Go for it."I pressed my lips together. "Thank you, Salvatore. But my flight happens to be on the same day as Giuliano's wedding. Please keep this between us for now. I do not want to take the attention away from him."They assumed the date was set by the ballet company and agreed without question.Over the next 2 weeks, I p

The words "break up" had not even left my lips when his phone rang.Viviana's name pulsed on the screen. He picked up. Whatever she said on the other end softened something in his eyes. A tenderness he did not even seem aware of.I looked at him and felt an exhaustion so deep it settled into my bones. He hung up and pressed a kiss to my forehead."Good girl. Between wedding prep and absorbing the Moretti family's casino operations, I'm going to be swamped for a while. Once this is all over, I'll make it up to you. Stop being upset, okay?"I was quiet for a moment. I wiped my tears and gave him an obedient nod.On the day of the wedding, he would know that I would never be upset for his sake again. After Giuliano left, I walked into the women's restroom to fix my makeup. When I lifted my head, I met Viviana's malicious stare in the mirror. She had dropped the polished socialite mask entirely. Her eyes were venomous."Seducing your own stepbrother. That's pathetic, even for you
