Aurora POV

He pins her to the wall, his hand tight around her upper arm, his eyes burning with warning. “You never speak of it,” he growls, every inch the Alpha, every word a threat.

Irene’s face drains of color, but she stands her ground, her jaw set. “I—” she stammers, then stops as his grip tightens. “That would never be my intention, Alpha. But your bond… it’s strong. One of the strongest I’ve ever felt.”

Killian’s wolf is so close to the surface, I can feel it rolling off him in waves. His lips pull back from his teeth in a snarl, low and warning. “How can I trust you? I should just rip your heart out.”

My heart leaps in my throat, fear and shock mingling. “Killian!” I yelp, rushing forward. My voice is sharper than I mean, but I can’t let him hurt her. “She’s not a threat.”

He doesn’t take his eyes off Irene. “She will be your death,” he snarls, and the sound of it chills me.

Irene shakes her head frantically. “No! Please. I promise, I mean no harm. There are wolves who have bon

Killian POVAurora steps forward. My heart thunders in my chest, waiting for the only answer that can keep her safe, but she hesitates for a heartbeat longer than she should. “Lucas,” she says, and my whole world tilts. I stare at her in disbelief. Saying me she could have claimed I took her choice from her, she could have protected herself.“What?” Rosa demands, stepping closer.Aurora doesn’t even blink. “I met him one day while getting things for Killian from the shop for work. I saw him whenever you and Killian weren’t busy.”I can’t breathe. What is she doing? Is she really going to lie to protect both of us?“But there’s no scent on you,” Rosa insists, suspicion darkening her face.“He’s human,” Aurora whispers, her voice trembling.Rosa’s eyes widen in shock, all her anger twisting into something colder.“Stop,” I snap, moving to stand between them, shielding Aurora from her mother’s glare.“She’s broken the pack rules!” Rosa accuses, pointing a shaking finger at her. “She’s br

Killian POVShe has magic. Wolves don’t have magic, not even the oldest, strongest, most ancient of bloodlines. But Aurora does. It shouldn’t be possible. There’s only one explanation: Rosa has lied to me from the beginning.“Killian,” Aurora whispers, her voice trembling in the charged silence between us.“Alpha,” I bite out, spinning to face her. She flinches, bowing her head, and turns away, shoulders curling in on themselves. I run a hand over my face, frustration burning through me. I shouldn’t have snapped, but none of this makes any sense. Nothing about it fits. The car slows to a stop, and I’m out before it’s fully parked, barely glancing back to see if Aurora is following.I storm into the house, ignoring Cain’s complaints as I pass, my entire focus locked on the kitchen where I know Rosa is waiting. I don’t bother with subtlety.“Explain to me why your daughter has magic,” I demand, my voice sharp and cutting as I step into the room.Rosa jumps, spinning around, her eyes nar

Aurora POVKillian finally turns. He looks tired, older than I’ve ever seen him, and for once there’s no trace of the Alpha in his eyes, just a man who’s trying to hold everything together. He steps back inside, closing the balcony doors behind him, shutting out the city and, for a moment, the world. He sits on the edge of the bed, not looking at me, just staring down at his hands. “I’m sorry you heard that,” he says quietly. “You shouldn’t have to listen to her talk about you like that.”I shake my head, my voice small and rough. “You don’t have to apologize. She’s always been like this. I should be used to it by now.”He looks up, and I see real pain in his eyes. “You shouldn’t have to get used to it. You don’t deserve any of it, Aurora.”The room feels impossibly quiet, the morning light pale and cold as it spills across the sheets. I can’t stop my hands from trembling, so I curl them into fists, pressing them to my knees. “She’s really going to the elders, isn’t she?” I whisper.K

Aurora POVI'm not sure when I fell asleep. The next thing I know, I'm awake, my heart thumping, the room still dim with the early gray of morning. What pulls me from sleep is the sound of Killian’s voice, low and sharp, carrying through the glass doors. For a long moment I don't move, just lie there listening to the agitation in his whispered shouts, his anger only barely contained. He's trying to keep his voice down, but it's failing, and the tension vibrates through the air.“This is absolutely ridiculous, Rosa,” he spits, every syllable edged with fury.I open my eyes, squinting against the early light. Killian stands on the balcony, his back to me, shoulders tight with stress. I watch him pace, one hand pressed to his forehead as he listens to whatever my mother is saying on the other end of the line.“You didn’t have my permission,” he snaps, every word a warning.Pushing myself upright, I try to focus, reaching for my wolf so I can listen more closely to the other side of the c

Killian POVFor a long moment, I hold there, locked together, hearts racing, bodies slick and shaking. There’s nothing but Aurora, nothing but the bond, nothing but the raw, perfect truth of us.“You are perfect,” I whisper, the words trembling in the space between us as I look down at her, my thumbs brushing softly over her cheeks, wiping away the tears that slip free. She shakes her head, the corners of her mouth pulling into a bitter line. “I don’t feel perfect, Killian.” Her voice is barely more than a breath, and my hand tightens against her skin as if I could anchor her to this moment, keep her from slipping away into those old wounds.“How could you not?” I ask, my voice rough, aching, as if the question itself wounds me.She lets out a soft, humorless laugh, the sound full of old pain. “Because you and my mother made sure I wouldn’t. You both told me I’d never amount to anything. That all I was good for was scrubbing floors and giving some Alpha his heir. Like I was born to se

Killian POVHer eyes shine, wide and wet, and she pulls me closer, her body moving with mine, welcoming me deeper. I move inside her with aching slowness, worshipping every inch, never breaking the kiss for long, my lips trailing down her throat, over her shoulder, always returning to her mouth, desperate to keep us joined in every possible way. She's not just a secret. She's not just the bond. She is the only thing in my world that has ever felt real. And as I move within her, kissing her again and again, I vow, silently and fiercely, that I will find a way to keep her, no matter the cost.I’m fighting to keep it gentle, to give her something soft, something real, something she’ll remember as more than just need or shame. Every slow thrust is meant to say what words can’t, that she’s cherished, not just claimed, not just a secret I hide away. My lips are always on her, her mouth, her cheek, her throat, whispering her name like a prayer, like a promise. But the bond’s burning under my
