Pov Emma

That night, while I was having dinner alone, I heard Samantha telling the other staff that Gregory had gone to visit his grandfather. Everyone seemed to talk about nothing else but Edward’s return. It seemed like everyone feared him, including Gregory himself.

My husband didn’t sleep at home that night. But I also didn’t call him urgently like I always did. I called the lawyer Gregory had made available to me and asked him for a big favor. I was going to give Gregory a beautiful surprise the next day, not caring whether he would hate me forever afterward.

The next day, I went downstairs for breakfast and told Samantha that I would be going out and to let Gregory know when he arrived. The maid found the information strange, as it implied I would spend the entire day away from home, but she didn’t question me. Samantha was good company and was always around to make my days more bearable.

I went back to the bedroom, took off

Gregory’s POVMy eyes fell on the objects on Emma’s bed, and what caught my attention and made my heart race was the shine of the ring, placed so delicately as if she had carefully arranged it to be the first thing I would see.“What the hell is going on here?”I muttered angrily as I lunged for the object and gripped it in my hands. I remembered putting that ring on Emma’s finger when she was still unconscious on the bed. We had just gotten married, and I was holding her injured in my arms. She was such a beautiful young woman that, for a moment, I felt lucky to have chosen her. But Emma had proven to be rebellious against the idea of being married to me.We were two strangers living under the same roof—me wanting my inheritance; her craving her freedom. Although our agreement was still six months from the end, I had thought more than once about divorcing her as soon as my grandfather passed away. I was sure he would die first, that Emma would soon give me a child, and I could rid my

Emma POVI never imagined I’d be staying at the most luxurious hotel in the city. Even though I was married to a wealthy man, during those two and a half years, I rarely left the house. That was Gregory’s advice—to stay there so no one would know about our marriage.A few hours ago, Edward had purchased tickets and some clothes for me. I was heading to a distant and unknown country. Edward told me that a close friend of his would be waiting for me and would take me to the house where he had lived his whole life.I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. I was running away from my ex-husband, carrying the child he had longed for, leaving everything behind while being helped by his greatest enemy.By now, Gregory must have uncovered the entire truth, and he would never forgive me for it. This certainty tore my heart like a dagger piercing my chest. Imagining Gregory hating me was not a comfortable feeling, especially knowing that I loved him and might never forget him.As I tried to rest,

POV Gregory'sI kept thinking about the satisfaction written all over Edward’s face as he told me that Grandpa was finally dead. My legs no longer responded to my commands, and Alya caught me.I should have been happy about the death of that vile old man, but he decided to leave this world with Emma, taking with them all my hope of becoming the heir to the entire empire he had left behind. I kept staring at the pregnancy test, thinking about how Emma had planned everything to hit me where it hurt the most. As if she somehow knew Grandpa was going to die, she left, abandoning me to face my personal hell alone. She had finally managed to take revenge on me for buying her from Mason’s hands.I crumpled the paper as Alya approached me again with a drink in her hands.“Drink this,” she offered, but I couldn’t bring myself to look her in the eyes. “It will make you feel better.”I brought the glass to my lips and swallowed the warm liquid, hoping it would help me snap out of it. I was unabl

POV Emma.I wasn’t sure how long I had been holding the phone, staring at the screen with Gregory’s number ready for an emergency call. My heart pounded violently against my chest as I fought against my desire to falter. The TV news wouldn’t stop replaying the death of Gregory’s grandfather. It seemed to be the saddest event of the year. Everyone mourned the death of the man who had forced me to love my fake husband. No one knew him the way I did; that old scoundrel ruined my life.I decided to attend his funeral. The news reported that the burial would take place that afternoon in the cemetery west of the city. I pulled a few pieces of clothing out of my suitcase and went to the bathroom to get ready. I kept going over the plan in my mind as I felt the hot water run down my body. Not only that, but I just wanted to make sure Gregory was okay, that he wasn't concerned about my disappearance, and then I would leave for good.I tied my hair into a bun and placed a black hat over it. Gregory's POVMy grandfather’s death filled the news. Speculations that Edward would become the new owner of the family businesses had completely robbed me of sleep. Although the will was to be read after the funeral, I knew everyone was right. Edward’s imminent takeover had defeated me.As I stared at Emma’s empty bed, the feeling of betrayal consumed me. Emma, the woman I had bought to save me, had become my nightmare. I wanted to find her; even if I couldn’t reverse the situation, I wanted Emma back by my side.My lawyer was already handling everything to ensure I received my share of the inheritance. After all, Emma was pregnant, which proved I had fulfilled my part of the agreement. But I had no real expectations that it would actually happen.I watched the sunrise through the bedroom window. The beeping of my phone alerted me every minute to the incoming messages, but I didn’t have the energy to check who was texting. I got up and went to the bathroom, running my hand franticall

  • Forced to Marry the cruel Billionaire   Chapter 15

Emma’s POVI stormed into the hotel like a hurricane, bumping into and knocking over everything in my path. I still had the impression that Gregory was chasing me; it was like going back in time, back to the day when Mason and those men pursued and captured me.Not only that, but I entered the room, locked the door, and stood in front of it with my heart pounding in my chest, waiting for someone to burst in and drag me into hell.Damn it! My mind was playing tricks on me.I collapsed onto the bed, closing my eyes until my body calmed down. Afterward, I undressed and went to the bathroom. I had never felt so defeated. What was I thinking, going to Grandpa’s funeral? Did I really believe no one would see me? Now Gregory knew I was in town and would send people to hunt me down everywhere.I wrapped myself in a robe and stepped out of the bathroom. The heat fogged my vision, but when I realized there was someone in my room, I almost screamed.“Edward?” My heart resumed its punishing rhyth

  • Forced to Marry the cruel Billionaire   Chapter 16

POV GregoryI scheduled an urgent meeting with Mason. Although he seemed excited about the idea of hunting down Emma, I didn’t give him details about the case. It had been years since I last spoke to Mason; all I knew was that he would find Emma and bring her back to me.After the funeral, I headed to Grandpa’s old mansion. Everyone wore fake expressions of sorrow, still shedding crocodile tears as if they truly missed that wretched old man. But deep down, they were all there just for the reading of the will, eager to know if they would get a piece of the inheritance.I was part of that hypocritical crowd, though I already knew Grandpa had chosen his favorite. Edward had fled the funeral as soon as he heard me mention Emma. That was proof enough that my bastard cousin was involved in my wife’s disappearance.I sent my security team to follow him, but Edward was clever and managed to lose them. It took him almost an hour to return, and we all waited there for him, so the will could be

Emma’s PoVThe photo showed Gregory on the ground, and the article detailed how Edward, the heir to the inheritance and the city’s new billionaire, had expelled the big loser. My heart burst in my chest. Gregory deserved to go through all of this—I knew that—but I couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt. I had caused all this mess when I decided to leave and leave only a divorce agreement with. Then I remembered Gregory’s last message. He had sent Mason to look for me. The last thing I wanted was to see my stepfather again and witness him reveling in my suffering.I was nervous in the room, dreading stepping out and running into Mason at any moment. It was safer to stay there, waiting for Edward. I turned off my cell phone, removed the chip, but couldn’t throw it away. Perhaps I would need it when my child was born. Maybe Gregory would want to meet him.Unlikely. He hadn’t asked about the child even once. The baby was merely a means to secure the inheritance, and since it was too late, th

EmmaWhen I woke up, Gregory was no longer by my side. Lia was dozing, her mouth open, and I found it funny the way she slept, but the smile disappeared as soon as I looked around and didn’t see him.I had asked him in the past few days to leave, to disappear from my life. I had ardently wished for that to happen, but when I didn’t see him, a wave of despair took over my chest.Waking up without him by my side scared me. I shook Lia, and she woke up startled. She looked at me and, after a while, realized where she was. I gave her a moment to recover and to ask where Gregory was.“He went home,” she got up, stretching, “and he said he needed to get back to work. He’s the president of the company now. Isn’t that amazing?”Lia reminded me of the reasons that drove me away from Gregory. The lies he told me, the truth he refused and hid from me, the way he used me for the second time. My heart started to ache again, and I began to feel angry at him once more. Why should I miss a man who, e

  • Forced to Marry the cruel Billionaire   Chapter 97

Gregory.Emma spent all her time with her face turned away from mine. She refused my help and yelled at me. She was unrecognizable, as if she were no longer the Emma I knew and fell in love with. I suffered seeing the distance she was building between us, but I refused to abandon her. I would stay there and fight for her until the end. After she fell asleep, Lia showed up. I would rather not leave her; I would have dismissed Lia if necessary just to stay by Emma’s side, but I needed to go home—I had a company to run that had been leaderless for two days.I stood up, leaned over, and gave a brief kiss on my wife’s forehead. She moved but didn’t wake up. I would hate to think that could be the last kiss exchanged between us.I left the room knowing I needed to visit Helena and take care of her too. That was when Emma’s doctor suddenly appeared, as if he had predicted my departure, and invited me for a brief conversation.Since Emma’s surgery, he hadn’t said anything about her actual hea

Emma.My heart now seemed to be pumping so much blood that I thought it would collapse under the pressure. My breathing was heavy, and my head spun endlessly with Gregory’s words. An impulsive cry tore through my throat.Lia’s appearance soaked my face. She pulled out a handkerchief and wiped my face.“I knew it wasn’t a good idea to leave you alone,” her hands trembled, and I could see how afraid she was. “I thought your surgery would only be in a few weeks.”But I couldn’t stop thinking about Gregory and everything I knew and heard. He said he loved me, and for a long time, I believed it. Gregory had shown in the most faithful way that what he said was true, but now none of it seemed to make sense. It was as if that love had never existed.I blamed myself for believing him.I felt bad for not being able to comfort Lia.She had grown so attached to me that she suffered at the thought of seeing me die. I should have refused Gregory’s help and walked away. That decision would have spar

Gregory.I drove as fast as I could to reach Emma. I couldn’t believe Helena would tell her my secret; I had asked my grandmother to be discreet, and she was good at keeping information. Not only that, but I feared that Emma would find out the truth that wasn’t from my lips.I knew where she was going, even though Emma hadn’t told me anything. Occasionally, I found myself surprised by how well I knew my woman. I knew exactly how Emma would act in cases like this. When she was angry, she always sought the shortest path to rid herself of her problems.I let out a sigh when I saw Lia at the reception desk, but she didn’t seem happy to see me at all. Her eyes widened, and she held her breath. Should I remind her that her boss — whether me or not anymore — was no longer the kind of man who pressured people? Here, Emma’s life was at stake — or rather, our marriage was. I needed to stop Emma from doing something crazy.“Where is she?” I approached, but Lia averted her gaze as if it were too

Emma.An hour ago, Lia snatched the phone from my hands and disconnected every screen device in the house. She said the order had come from my husband. Her face was heavy, like someone hiding a big secret. Immediately, I fought against my nurse. I lunged at Lia so she would give me the phone back, and she didn’t resist. The news was there, with a photo of Gregory and Helena being placed in an ambulance. The company appointed Gregory as its new president today amid many controversies.“What the hell is going on here?” My tearful eyes reached Lia. “Is this what you were trying to hide from me?”It was unfair of me to blame Lia. She was only following Gregory’s orders. I wanted to run to him and demand the truth, but something held me back, telling me to stay because Gregory would soon show up.And it didn’t take long for him to appear. Half an hour later, Gregory was standing in front of me, his eyes filled with pain. He knew the mistake he had made and he also knew the consequences tha

Gregory.I was able to see the exact moment they rushed to help Helena and take her to the hospital. If Edward intended to cause chaos, he had succeeded. I abandoned everything to go with her. In the past, I wouldn't have cared about leaving her in a hospital under someone else's care, but now I do. Helena was the only living family I had.The only one—because to me, Edward was nothing. He was born to make my life unbearable, and he was succeeding. He would only rest when he had taken everything from me and then some. I tried to forget all the confusion and help Helena. I knew that my presence would only worsen her condition, but I couldn’t leave her alone at that moment. When I got into the ambulance, she looked into my eyes and said, her voice trembling:“I always suspected that you and Emma didn’t truly love each other.”“Let’s save that conversation for later.” I turned my face away from hers. “You need to focus on your health now.”“Later, when, Gregory? When I’m dead? Do you pla

Gregory“Sir, we installed the cameras,” the head of security reported, entering my office to complete his task.“All of them? Are you sure?” I looked into his eyes, scrutinizing him. I couldn’t let anything slip by.“Positive, sir. If anyone enters the mansion, we’ll know.”I didn’t feel safe or at ease. Now that my grandfather gave me his entire inheritance, I could imagine Edward’s fury. His goal had always been to destroy me, even before our grandfather passed away. Now that the game had shifted, and the situation seemed to be in my favor, Edward wouldn’t just stand by watching me win.“Great!” I grabbed my briefcase from the desk and took one last look at my reflection in the mirror, noticing that I was ready to go take my place.Strangely, I wasn’t as happy as I thought I would be. The feeling of deceiving Emma burned inside me. I had already learned, in the cruelest way, the price paid for the wrong choices we make.“Keep an eye on Emma twenty-four hours a day. GregoryI still couldn’t believe that the inheritance I had fought so hard for was finally mine. The message I received that morning said I needed to sign the documents, and everything my grandfather had denied me would be passed on to me.I looked at Emma and felt that nothing seemed to make sense anymore. I would trade everything I had achieved to save her life. Even though I had fought bravely for that money, if Emma wasn’t with me to enjoy those benefits, nothing would be worth it.She asked me if there was something wrong, and cowardly I denied any information. I was still looking for a way to tell Emma the whole truth until I found that solution. I kept lying, deceiving her, knowing that when Emma found out, she would never forgive me.Anyone would understand that I had used her and the illness to gain Helena’s kindness, but I never once asked for the will to be changed. Helena was doing it more for my wife than for me, but Emma wouldn’t understand. It was because of that inheri

Emma. The illness had given a truce.Gregory and I didn’t discuss the illness anymore during the days we spent in Spain. Everything was so perfect that I didn’t want to go back home to that reality where Mason, Edward, Ayla, and so many other people I no longer wanted to see existed.I cuddled up with him in bed, listening to his heartbeat, when his phone vibrated beside us. Gregory didn’t move. He was sleeping so deeply that even if there were noise, he wouldn’t wake up to answer. I stretched out my arm and picked up the device. On the notification tab, there was a message from Gregory’s lawyer saying he needed to return to sign the documents.Gregory stirred, and I immediately put the phone back. We didn’t have the habit of going through each other’s things. Gregory didn’t check my phone, and I didn’t check his. In the past, I wouldn’t have even dared to touch that device. I remember Gregory always keeping it out of my reach while exchanging intimate messages with Alya—or at least,
