You guys wouldn't believe the past two days I've had. I adopted an older dog from a family w/kids, dogs, birds, and cats and they said she'd never shown any aggression. 1st day, She stayed completely separated in a kennel in my room with no other animals near. 2nd day, I let her wonder the bedroom and office only. She was so sweet. Then I gave her a bath but when the bathroom door opened, she became possessively feral, lost her mind after seeing my dog, who she'd seen there all day with no issue, on the other side of TWO baby gates. She broke both, one wood/one metal, about seven feet apart so my current dog and the new dog could see each other but not get near each other, and tried to kill my current dog, a small, sweet dachshund. He's alive but hurting with stitches. Absolutely awful.
HAVEN “I’ve got her,” Cynthia said, gesturing toward the front door as she walked over and grabbed the baby monitor from my hands. “Siri isn’t going to wake up, and you have bigger things to focus on.” “You really think I should just tell him the truth?” I asked. “And face the consequences. Ye
BEN The window was open, letting in the evening air, but it wasn’t as cool as I had liked. After today, I wouldn’t mind submerging into an ice bath if it would work to numb my mind, but that wasn’t likely to happen. The fan above the bed spun in slow, lazy turns, just enough to move the air witho
BEN “Bailee,” I answered, tucking the envelope under my arm as I swiped my key card and opened the door to my suite. “How are you feeling?” She had another baby on the way, a boy this time, but she had been having some stress-related complications that had worried everyone around her. Granted, sh
BEN “Haven, like your old assistant Haven?” Bailee asked, and I nodded even though she couldn’t see me. “The one and only,” I grumbled in response, rubbing my temples as I tried to fight the headache that was rapidly coming on. “That’s great! Did you guys talk?” Bailee asked, sounding as excited
HAVEN I had resented Benjamin Evans for many things over the years, but the feeling of dread that now bubbled in my gut when I drove to work was the cherry on top. This job was finally something I had outside of my home that I had worked hard for, and that made me happy, and he made me not want t
HAVEN “That’s not possible,” I said, shaking my head back and forth. This room was too small for us to hash this out now. I felt like I couldn’t breathe with Ben so close, and his body heat made me uncomfortably warm. “Look at me, Haven,” Ben demanded, and I ripped my eyes away from the stack o
BEN My heart twisted in my chest. After seeing her picture, I knew in my gut that Siri was mine, but Haven had lied so many times that even hearing what I had wanted to hear, I wasn’t sure I could believe it. “There wasn’t anyone else?” I repeated. If there wasn’t anyone else, then Haven hadn’t
BEN My hands were sweaty, and a chill went through me. I couldn’t trust anyone. Not my parents, staff, or even Haven after her repeated lies over the past week. If she had told the truth this time, I would be in serious trouble. My staff had access to everything that controlled my life. I wou
HAVEN The private jet was a nice touch, and I appreciated that the airport was also private and didn’t allow any of the press on the runway. But they were waiting at home like little vultures, wanting to pick the last bit of humanity off our exhausted and empty bodies. Siri had been screaming bl
BEN The flight home was one of the most uncomfortable plane rides I had ever been on, and I had once been trapped on a private jet with Mason and a stewardess loudly fucking in the private bedroom in the back. This made that look tame, and everyone on this flight remained seated the entire time.
HAVEN It must have been karmic intervention, but I hadn’t figured out what we could have done that was so bad. Still, it seemed we weren’t meant to have our happily ever after. The universe and everyone in it seemed to oppose Ben and me getting married. It was too late, as he was officially min
HAVEN I should have been blushing from the looks we got when we returned downstairs, but I wasn’t. With my hand in Ben's, I was smiling bigger than ever before as he spotted our wedding planner in the lobby and pulled me to follow her to an event room. The woman had worked wonders, and I was blown
HAVEN When his hand moved back up, I almost let out a cry as he went back, gently sliding along one side of my clit before going back down the other, touching it just enough that it was throbbing with need but not enough to give me the release I desired. “Benjamin Evans, I swear to God…” I snappe
HAVEN The fire in Ben’s eyes was something I hadn’t seen in years, and my chest rose and fell sharply as he leaned in and captured my lips in a kiss. “You drive me crazy.” He said, pulling away before lifting his thumb to my lips. “The feeling’s mutual,” I whispered, stunned by the dominating w
BEN She was shutting down. Haven’s smile was gone, as was the shaking of her hand in mine. It was as if she had become empty, devoid of emotion, as she stared blankly at the officiant. I knew she had been nervous about getting married and wanted something intimate and romantic since her last wed
HAVEN My hands were shaking as we left the hotel. The photographers snapped a few pictures of me getting my dress buttoned, pictures of me and Siri, and then some of the three of us together before leaving me with security and running off to get in position for the first look. The breezeway that
HAVEN I turned to look at Cynthia, feeling guilty and remorseful that they had dragged Max into this. She had told me it was fine and that no matter what they said about him, it wouldn’t matter because we knew the truth. It wasn’t like their lies could have an impact on Max, his career, or his li
