Chapter 2

Author: Stars
When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I saw was the white ceiling of a hospital.

Just as I thought I'd finally made it home, a familiar voice shattered that illusion.

They somehow managed to resuscitate me!

"Sharon, did you really try to kill yourself just because Leia stole the limelight? Or was it because we had an argument and you wanted to get my attention?

Samson's words were full of blame. However, my eyes fell on his hand—the one he was trying to hide and wrapped in a bandage.

The memory hit me hard. Right before I stabbed myself, he grabbed the blade with his bare hand, stopping it from cutting too deep. That was why I was still alive.

My heart trembled as I stared at him in stunned silence.

Just then, the healer came in to change my dressing. Seeing me awake, he smiled kindly. "Luna Sharon, it's such a relief that you're okay. The Alpha moved heaven and earth to save you. He even emptied the pack's blood bank just for you."

Samson shot him a sharp glare. "Don't talk so much."

I lowered my gaze. "Why did you do it? Wouldn't everything be easier for you if I were dead?"

He opened his mouth to answer, but a sob cut through his silence.

Leia walked in, wiping tears from her face. "Sharon, I'm so sorry! Samson only gave me your Luna gown because he wanted to make you jealous. I didn't know it would upset you this much. I'll leave now. You won't have to see me again."

Her eyes glistened as she looked up at Samson, full of reluctant affection.

She turned to go, but he caught her wrist and yanked her back. "It's not your fault. You don't need to apologize."

He then turned to me, his voice sharp with irritation. "As the Luna of the pack, all you ever do is get jealous and throw tantrums. Do you have any idea how much trouble your behavior has caused me and Leia? In a few days, I'll call a press conference. You'll apologize to her publicly."

I was tired and couldn't be bothered to argue with them.

"Fine. Go find your reporters. I'll say whatever you want on camera."

Then, I closed my eyes and added, "Now get out of my sight."

Samson froze for a moment, not moving. His gaze drifted to my wrist—to the old, rusted bracelet still circling it.

His expression shifted. After a long pause, he asked quietly, "With all the jewelry you have, why do you still wear that bracelet?"

I looked down at it. The metal was dull and worn, its edges rough with age.

In that instant, my thoughts were pulled back to that rainy night from two years ago. Samson was kneeling before me, slipping the bracelet onto my wrist as he swore he would love me for life.

Back then, he wasn't the Alpha yet.

When his parents found out about us, they were furious. They even threatened to give the Alpha title to his younger brother if he didn't leave me.

But Samson ignored them all. He took my hand and said he'd give up everything for me.

We ran away together, living hand to mouth, scraping by day after day. Yet on my birthday, he used the last of his savings to buy me that bracelet.

"Thank you for staying with me. I'll make it up to you someday. In the future, I'll buy you as much beautiful jewelry as you want."

Later, his younger brother was killed in a Rogue attack during a patrol.

All of a sudden, there was no one else fit to inherit the Alpha's position except Samson.

After he became the Alpha, Samson kept his promise and showered me with priceless jewelry.

But what he never knew was that none of those glittering things meant half as much to me as this cheap, rusted bracelet on my wrist.

I'd forgotten that metal would rust, and that love would, too.

Everything changed the moment Leia appeared.

Just as he demanded, I stood before the cameras and apologized to her publicly.

The internet exploded with hate.

"Didn't Sharon want to die? Why is she still here, slandering Leia like that?"

"No wonder Samson doesn't want her. How can a petty she-wolf like that be worthy of being his Luna?"

I was unbothered by the ridicule. After so many years, I'd long since gotten used to it.

Deep down, I already knew that my title of Luna was nothing more than a placeholder.

That night, I saw Samson kneeling outside my apartment building. He thought he could use my pity to win my forgiveness, but I wasn't the same old Sharon that he knew. No matter how long he kneeled, I would never forgive him.Snow kept falling, piling up on his shoulders until a thick layer covered him, but he didn't move.In this world, he was just an ordinary human without any werewolf strength or resilience. Before long, his body gave out, and he collapsed in the snow.I took him to the hospital. Even unconscious, he kept murmuring my name, begging me not to leave.I couldn't understand him. Why fight so hard for something you once wanted to destroy? When I was with him, he couldn't wait to push me away, and now that I was gone, he was desperate to hold on. If there was a reason for it, it had to be madness. The Moon Goddess told me that after tonight, he'd be sent back to his world.I checked the clock. It was half an hour until midnight. When I turned back, I saw that Sams

I don't know what happened to Samson after that, and honestly, I couldn't care less.I thought after the last time, he'd finally give up. But I had still underestimated how shameless he could be.He actually followed me all the way to my office. That day, when I got off work, I saw him standing by the entrance, holding a cake and a bouquet."Happy birthday, Sharon," he greeted with a soft smile.I walked right past him as if he were invisible. He grabbed my arm. "Wait, Sharon! I'm not here to beg you to come back. I just… wanted to celebrate your birthday."I stopped, and he continued, "I know I'll be leaving soon. Just let me spend one last birthday with you."I didn't know where he got the money for flowers and cake, but when I saw the frostbite on his hands, I could imagine how miserable his life had been."Sharon, have a piece of cake." He lowered the box toward me.I slapped it away, and the cake splattered on the ground. He froze for a second, then forced a laugh. "I

As soon as I got home, the Moon Goddess' voice echoed in my mind."I'm sorry. I didn't expect Samson to go to a witch. Because of her interference, the fabric of time and space has been damaged. It'll take me a while to fix it. But worry not. It won't be long."I nodded. However, when my parents found out that Samson had shown up, they were furious and wanted to charge out the door to give him a beating. They knew exactly how much I'd suffered in that world, and that most of my pain came from him. He had pushed me so far that I'd tried to end my life three times. It took all my pleading to finally calm them down and stop them from doing something reckless.I thought once the Moon Goddess repaired the fabric of time and space, Samson would be erased from my life for good.I had underestimated his shamelessness. He had the gall to show up outside my apartment again. This time, he kneeled in the snow, shaping handfuls of it into roses. One after another, he laid them out in front

When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I saw was my mom, crying so hard her face was soaked in tears."Sharon, you're finally back! You don't know how much I've missed you."My dad was right beside her, trying hard to hold back his own tears. "You're home, and that's all that matters. Look at you, you've lost so much weight… You must've gone through hell out there."The warmth I hadn't felt in so long hit me all at once. My nose tingled, and years of bottled-up pain came pouring out in a flood.I threw my arms around them both and sobbed into their shoulders. They didn't say anything and just kept patting my back gently as if to tell me it was over now.I was finally home.…In the days that followed, my parents did everything they could to help me recover. They bought me all kinds of tonics and supplements, and cooked my favorite meals every day.Two weeks later, I could finally walk again. That day, the sun was warm and bright, so I went out into the garden to admire t

I thought I was finally going home this time, back to my own world. But when I opened my eyes and saw Samson's face again, disappointment flooded my chest. He was slumped in a chair beside my bed, looking pale and haggard. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight, and there were dark circles beneath his eyes. It was clear he hadn't slept in days. The healer told me that Samson had called in every top healer in the pack to treat me and that he hadn't left my side for ten straight days. He only collapsed into sleep when he finally heard that I was out of danger. My conversation with the healer seemed to have awakened Samson. He jerked upright suddenly."Sharon!"The bloodshot whites of his eyes shimmered with tears as he rushed to grab my hand."Sharon, why would you do something like this? If I hadn't found you in time, you'd be dead! Why don't you care about your own life?"I wanted to explain, but the Moon Goddess' warning not to tell anyone about this echoed in my mind. So, I s

A few days later, I was discharged from the infirmary. Samson came to pick me up.The moment I opened the passenger-side door, I froze. Leia was already sitting there. She gave me a saccharine smile. "Sorry about this. I get carsick easily, so Samson let me sit up front. But if it bothers you, I can move to the back. It'll just make me a little uncomfortable, that's all."Before I could say anything, Samson reached over and gently took her hand, stopping her. "Your body's still weak. You should just sit here. Sharon wouldn't mind."I said nothing. I simply turned away from what used to be my seat and opened the back passenger door instead. The backseat was piled high with Leia's makeup bags and snacks. Even the seat covers had been swapped out with those of her favorite cartoon lamb design. All that was left for me was a tiny corner to squeeze into. She turned around and apologized in embarrassment. "Oh no, I went shopping with Samson and bought too much. The trunk couldn't fit
