"Carol, you just had surgery; you should rest."

I was not dead. Henry took me away from Wu City and I underwent surgery.

It was a surgery that had a success rate of one percent.

However, Henry said that I had been on the brink of death when he arrived at the Shaw villa that night. I had been lying on the bed wearing a white dress. My face was pale and I was lifeless. I would have died if I had not had the surgery.

The surgery was not a complete success, but it had not failed either.

At least it had given me more time.

Summer tucked my long hair behind my ears. I opened my mouth with some difficulty. When she saw that, she hurriedly stopped me and said, "You just woke up and there are machines attached to you. You can't speak for now."

I blinked to show that I understood. Then, Summer continued, "We did not take you away a few days ago. Henry suggested that I call Dixon. When he came by, he thought you were dead and cried miserably. They even held a funeral for you and the lawyer
