Chapter 1822

Penulis: Cozy Season
"Uncle Drake's got a point," Lillian mumbled.

She caught Marion's sharp glance and zipped it.

Debra tossed a packet onto the table. "Recognize this?"

Drake picked it up. "What's this?"

"Stanley's handiwork," Debra replied, chewing her food. "Same stuff the Illuminati used. Don't tell me you forgot."

Drake hadn't seen it in 18 years. He studied it, opened the bag, and sniffed. "Diluted. A cowardly move."

If someone with real ambition had it, they'd have refined it, like the Illuminati's old stock.

"I'll take it back and poke around," he said. "Nobody's got the balls to sling this in my city."

"Exactly," Debra said. "Just check it out for us."

Drake nodded, pleased with the trust.

"I've seen that before," Lillian said suddenly.

All eyes snapped to her. Debra asked, "Where?"

"At school," Lillian replied. "My classmates eat it when they're tired or zoned out. Some even offered me some."

She glanced at Solomon. "He saw it too. Tons of students have it."

No normal kids could pull stunts like that."Come on! I'm doing legit business here," the shop owner protested. "I didn't hurt anybody. Why are you coming after me? If you want a cut, just speak the word. I can hook you up with my supplier. No need to wreck us."Getting whooped by two teenagers was humiliating enough."Where's your supply chain?" Solomon asked, all business. "Who's your contact?"The owner tensed up. "Are you a cop? I've got nothing to say. Just take me in."He'd rather die than snitch. Betraying his supplier meant a reduced sentence but a lifetime of payback."You see, I'm not a patient person," Solomon said coldly. "Talk, or I'll make you wish you had."He took the owner's arm, and with a crack, the joint popped out.Lillian's eyes widened with shock.Solomon had learned the ruthless style of Juan and Jordan at a young age. This was nothing new to him.Lillian, on the other hand, had been sheltered from that side."I won't talk even if you kill me," the ow

Before he could swing, Lillian amped it up. "Help! This guy is selling poison candy and trying to hit me."The passers-by gathered, pointing. Lillian played the rogue to perfection."You think you can con me?" the owner roared. "You don't know who I am.""Doesn't matter," Lillian shot back. "My friend is dying because of you. Own up, or I'll call the police to shut you down."The owner, realizing he had hit a brick wall, quickly switched gears. "Alright, alright. If he's sick from my stuff, I'll cover it. Come, let's talk inside. I already called an ambulance. It's coming. You don't want him lying in the street, right?""Fine," Lillian said. "But you close your shop till the ambulance gets here. No more selling your poison."Solomon, still writhing on the ground, groaned, 'Does she even know what she's doing?'The owner had his guys carry Solomon inside, then slammed the iron shutter down."Idiot," Solomon hissed, pulling Lillian behind him.The owner's face twisted. "I knew y

"Sounds fair," Lillian admitted."You're killing me here," Solomon sulked. "Anyone with a brain would check the stores first.""Good call." She grabbed his arm, dragging him to the shop.Moments later, they stood at the counter. The owner handed snacks to students from a glass case. Those colorful packs were labeled "Dream Candy". The slogan went like, "Want high scores? Eat Dream Candy.""Two packs, please. Pink ones," Lillian said, drawn to the bright packaging.Solomon stared, incredulous. "You're picking colors now?""Sorry, no pink," the owner said. "Boys usually go for blue."He slid two blue packs over. "50 bucks.""25 bucks a pack?" Lillian gasped. "What kind of candy costs that much?"There were no sweets that pricey in this city. Besides, these were not even branded."Cost me 20 to get them," the owner said. "25 is a steal. Don't want them? Plenty of others do. Move along, kid."The students of Seamar City High were loaded, and he only dealt with deep pockets.Li

Punishing evil should be done by adults rather than kids.Drake cringed, clearing his throat. "Not me. It was probably Solomon. They often hang out together. That kid is trouble.""You led her astray," Debra snorted. "We'll settle this later."Drake sighed, getting the short end of the stick....Night fell.Lillian and Solomon slipped out of the house. School was usually out now, but the kidnapping case had let them leave early. This was prime time for vendors to lurk near campus."Hurry!" Lillian urged him.Solomon shifted uncomfortably. "If you're investigating, do it openly. Sneaking around just makes you look suspicious."He grabbed her collar and lifted her like a kitten.Passersby stared suspiciously. Clad in their school uniforms, the two were skulking outside the school gate, looking every bit like troublemakers trying to skip class."What're those two doing?""Bet they're skipping school to hook up. Kids these days..."...The onlookers murmured among themselve

"Others might brag. Your folks and Uncle Drake? Never," Solomon said. He'd heard stories. 20 years ago, the four families got hammered, nearly wiped out by the Illuminati.Lillian's parents, with allies from Orkgate, Flesta, Wrastow City, and overseas, fought back and won. It was a saga etched into the four families' history.Solomon was born after that and missed the historic moment."Finish your food and hit the books," he said, setting down his fork and knife. "My parents told me to stick with you, so I'm crashing here. Uncle Marion was fine with it and told me to make sure you do your homework."He and Lillian grew up together, mostly at the Houston Mansion.Debra and Marion were always working or traveling. His own parents were worse, globetrotting like they were making up for lost decades. They rarely stayed at home.Jordan and Juan were the ones who had raised them.Solomon took after the two guys. He was cool and responsible, especially when it came to Lillian's schoolw
