A family moment

Fernando's POV

I watched Helen exit the room, with a torrent of emotions coursing through me.

Had what I thought happened really happened?

Or had I imagined it?

Had Helen really fluttered her eyes shut and pucker up her lips for a kiss?

No, it couldn't be.

The doctor had already educated me earlier that the anesthesia could cause me to hallucinate and envision things that hadn't happened.

But then again, how else could I explain Helen's pleasant citrusy scent that still clung to my nostrils like a leech?

I couldn't have possibly imagined that too, or could I have?

"Damn, I'm going crazy," I chortled mirthlessly as I flapped my MacBook pro open.

Opening the device brought back the memory of how soft Helen's hands had felt against mine.

They had been as tender as freshly-baked bread.

I wondered if they would smell as heavenly as freshly-baked bread if I had kissed them.
