Chapter 2

Author: Cozy Ivory
"As you wish, Ms. Gerber." The person agreed without hesitation.

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of Olivia's lips. After ending the call, she went straight home.

The moment she walked into the house, the butler handed her a gift box. "Mrs. Jebb, Mr. Jebb got this for you as an anniversary gift."

Olivia opened the box and saw a dazzling pair of sapphire earrings inside. They were clearly worth a fortune.

She thought it over carefully. After catching Caleb in bed with another woman for the eighth time and causing a scene, she fell ill for an entire month. He went mad, searching all over the country for the best doctors to treat her.

He even set aside all his work. He stayed by her bedside every day and looked after her himself. No matter how many times she asked him to leave, he refused.

From that day on, the tension between them seemed to fade.

Caleb also stopped making headlines with other women. He even started keeping Olivia informed of his whereabouts and made sure to give her presents on every special occasion.

He was so good to her that she started to believe everything was back to normal. She never imagined that he had fallen for Shannon and was doing everything he could to protect her.

Caleb never cared about his previous mistresses. Even when Olivia found out about them and took her revenge, it didn't bother him.

But Shannon had become an exception. Caleb had gone to such lengths just to keep Olivia distracted. Even after Olivia discovered the truth, he was willing to swallow his pride and give in to her as long as it meant keeping Shannon safe.

Olivia's phone lit up. It was a photo from Shannon.

In the photo, Gerald, Vivian, and Caleb remained by her side, their eyes filled with affection. Around her neck was a sapphire necklace worth 30 million dollars.

Anyone could see that the earrings Caleb gave Olivia were just a free gift that had come with the necklace.

Olivia let out a quiet scoff. She reached for the gift box and tossed it into the bin without hesitation.

Then she went to the bedroom, packed up everything Caleb had given her over the past year, and threw it all away. She didn't keep a single thing.

The moment Caleb returned home, he happened to notice the gift box in the bin. He looked at Olivia with a frown.

"You don't like it? I'll get you something else next time."

"That won't be necessary. I'm not desperate enough to take someone else's leftovers," Olivia said calmly as she set her phone on the table.

On the screen were several selfies of Shannon wearing the necklace. There were even photos of Caleb putting it around her neck himself. He seemed incredibly gentle with her, his gaze impossibly tender.

Caleb's expression shifted instantly. He stepped forward and grabbed her by the wrist, his voice laced with warning.

"Didn't I already tell you? You can get back at me however you want, but you can't hurt Shannon. I can't believe you had someone secretly take photos of her!"

Olivia winced in pain and shoved Caleb aside. She almost laughed at the way he panicked over Shannon.

Could a man like him even know what love meant?

"Alright. I won't hurt her."

Olivia looked at Caleb icily. "I still want my revenge though. Since you want to protect her, you can take ten lashes in her place."

The car was too close and moving too fast. There was no time for Olivia to get out of the way."Olivia!" Trevor's eyes widened. Without a second thought, he stepped in front of her, shielding her with his body. At the very last moment, another engine roared to life. A black car rammed into the side of Shannon's car. It was Caleb's car.A deafening crash rang out as the impact sent Shannon's car off course. Both cars had been traveling at high speed, causing Caleb and Shannon to lose control of their vehicles. The two cars ended up crashing across the middle of the road. The cars were badly crumpled, their windows shattered. Thick smoke billowed into the air. Before anyone could even process what had happened, a large truck appeared in the distance. Unable to stop in time, it came barreling toward the two cars in the middle of the road. As the truck collided with the cars, flames erupted, and smoke and dust filled the air. Not far away, Gerald and Vivian stood there, watch

Vivian became agitated. "You're the reason all this happened! Olivia, you set us up! How did we end up with a daughter like you? You schemed against us! We're your parents! If you don't pay us back, don't blame us for what happens next!""Is that so?" Olivia sneered. "Well, what are you going to do about it? Did I force you to hand over the three billion dollars? Why did you invest everything you had in Jebb Corporation?"You did all that so you could help Shannon get together with Caleb! You wanted your precious daughter to marry well. You were hoping to use Jebb Corporation's resources to get ahead overnight!"Now that your gamble didn't pay off and you ended up losing everything, you want to blame it on me?"Olivia stared at Gerald and Vivian, who had gone deathly pale. Her voice turned even colder. "At the end of the day, you brought this on yourselves. It's got nothing to do with me. If you keep harassing me, I'll call the cops on you."Gerald and Vivian exchanged glances

The anger in Caleb's eyes faded, and all that was left was emptiness and disbelief. "Olivia, you're with another guy now? Then what am I to you now? What did our relationship even mean to you?""It was a mistake." The moment Olivia said that, Caleb felt all his strength leave his body, and he staggered backward. Olivia swept her gaze over Caleb before looking away. Without looking back at him, she instinctively reached for Trevor's hand. "Let's go.""Alright." Trevor wrapped his arm around her shoulders and turned to leave. Caleb was the only one left standing there, watching Olivia and Trevor disappear into the distance. The night breeze swept through the lavender fields, making a mess of his dark hair and leaving him chilled to the bone. He finally realized that Olivia really didn't love him anymore.Or perhaps she hadn't loved him for a long time. Caleb was the only one stuck in the past, unwilling to accept the truth and living in denial.…Trevor drove steadily al

Olivia and Trevor turned to look at Caleb at the same time. No emotion flickered in her eyes. She looked at him as if he were just a stranger. Caleb immediately strode toward them. Seeing her in someone else's arms was driving him crazy. His voice came out hoarse and strained. "Olivia, come with me."He fixed his gaze on her. "I've thought it over. I think… I've fallen for you. Let's get married again. We'll start over. We can live together like a normal married couple and enjoy life together. What do you think?"As soon as those words left his mouth, a faint, mocking smile tugged at the corners of Olivia's lips. "I'm sorry, Mr. Jebb. Your love means nothing to me."Olivia watched his face grow paler, yet she remained unfazed. Instead, she seemed almost delighted. "I'll be honest. The worse off you are, the happier I am."Caleb jolted, as if something had struck him deep in the chest, making it hard for him to breathe. He looked at Olivia in disbelief, his eyes bloodshot.

Caleb couldn't take it anymore and turned to leave. "Where are you going?" Shannon anxiously grabbed his arm to stop him, but he shook her off, causing her to fall to the floor. "Ah!" Shannon yelped in pain, tears instantly welling in her eyes. But Caleb didn't even seem to notice as he swiftly left his office. He pulled out his phone and opened his contacts. Olivia's name seemed to jump out at him from the screen. He quickly gave her a call. A cold, automated voice came through the phone. "The number you have dialed is currently busy and cannot be reached."After a few beeps, the call disconnected.Caleb froze for a moment before sending her a message. Then he immediately realized that he had been blocked. Olivia had cut him off without hesitation, leaving him no way to get through to her. Caleb's heart sank. The moment their lips touched, Caleb's eyes turned red. His chest heaved as he asked in a low voice, "Why do you get to just walk away? Why do you get to leave just like that? Why did you leave me here to suffer alone? Come back… "Come back. Do you hear me? Keep fighting with me. I want you to keep arguing with me. Just stay with me…""You can't leave. Not without my permission…" Caleb muttered over and over again, his hot breath spilling over the woman's lips. Caleb tightened his arms around her, as if he wanted to make sure she could never escape him. There was something obsessive, almost deranged about it."Olivia… Come back to me…"The woman in his arms clearly froze when she heard that name, her voice full of disbelief. "Caleb, look at me. Do you even know who I am?"Caleb suddenly snapped back to reality. That wasn't Olivia's voice. The drunken haze in his mind began to clear. The moment his vision finally focused, he realized the woman standing in front of him wasn
