Chapter 3

Author: Cozy Ivory
Caleb's eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Olivia noticed the flicker of surprise in his eyes too.

After all, who in all of Joltbury would ever dare go against Caleb? He had never even gone to such lengths to protect any of the women before Shannon.

Caleb clenched his jaw, his fingers slowly curling into a fist. In the end, he still said, "Sure. I'll take those lashes for Shannon."

He spoke so casually, yet those words cut into Olivia's heart like a knife.

So Shannon really was the exception for Caleb.

Olivia suddenly let out a quiet laugh, her eyes stinging with tears. "Caleb, you really love her, don't you?"

She gripped the whip and abruptly raised her hand.

"No!"

Shannon suddenly appeared and threw herself between them, shielding Caleb behind her slender frame. Her voice was thick with tears. "I wasn't thinking straight. I was the one who seduced him! If you want to hit someone, hit me instead! Don't hurt Caleb!"

"Shannon, get out of the way!" Caleb immediately reached out to shield her. "I love you. I'll protect you if I want to. You don't get to decide."

"Caleb…" Shannon looked up at him, tears welling in her eyes.

As for Olivia, she stood there like an unwanted outsider, forced to watch the ridiculous scene unfold before her.

This was just wonderful—so much so that it made her sick.

She suddenly tightened her grip and swung the whip at Caleb with all her might.

At the last second, Shannon threw herself onto Caleb without hesitation.

The whip never hit Caleb. Instead, it came down hard on Shannon's back.

"Ah!" Shannon let out a strangled cry. Her body shuddered before she crumpled to the floor, her face deathly pale.

"Shannon!" Caleb's eyes widened in horror.

Before Olivia could even react, his hand was already around her throat. He slammed her hard against the cold, hard wall. Pain shot through her entire body.

"Olivia!" Caleb gritted his teeth, his voice low and menacing. "I already warned you not to hurt her! Do I have to say it again?"

Olivia could barely breathe, her head forced back as she gasped for air. Her face flushed red before gradually turning paler.

Just as Olivia was about to black out, Shannon called out softly, "Caleb…"

Her voice snapped Caleb back to reality, and he released Olivia instantly.

Olivia's legs gave out. She slid down the wall, collapsing onto the floor in a heap. She gasped for air as tears streamed down her cheeks, blurring her vision.

But Caleb didn't even look at her. He simply scooped Shannon into his arms and left.

Half an hour later, Shannon sent Olivia a message.

"Did you see that? If it weren't for me, your husband would've choked you to death. I'm the woman he loves most. Why do you still insist on being his wife? Isn't that pathetic?"

Shannon sent a photo of Caleb gently tending to her wounds. He looked nothing like the man who had his hand around Olivia's throat earlier.

Olivia called home with a blank look on her face. As soon as the call connected, Gerald and Vivian's displeased voices came through the line.

"Didn't we tell you not to bother us unless it's something urgent? You could drop dead tomorrow for all we care—"

Olivia closed her eyes and cut them off. "That's enough. Let's just meet up."

"What for?" Gerald and Vivian were on their guard. "Are you up to something?"

"I'll let Shannon take my place as Caleb's wife." Olivia's voice was icy. "Well? Are you going to meet me or not?"

The car was too close and moving too fast. There was no time for Olivia to get out of the way."Olivia!" Trevor's eyes widened. Without a second thought, he stepped in front of her, shielding her with his body. At the very last moment, another engine roared to life. A black car rammed into the side of Shannon's car. It was Caleb's car.A deafening crash rang out as the impact sent Shannon's car off course. Both cars had been traveling at high speed, causing Caleb and Shannon to lose control of their vehicles. The two cars ended up crashing across the middle of the road. The cars were badly crumpled, their windows shattered. Thick smoke billowed into the air. Before anyone could even process what had happened, a large truck appeared in the distance. Unable to stop in time, it came barreling toward the two cars in the middle of the road. As the truck collided with the cars, flames erupted, and smoke and dust filled the air. Not far away, Gerald and Vivian stood there, watch

  • Goodbye to All the Traitors   Chapter 21

Vivian became agitated. "You're the reason all this happened! Olivia, you set us up! How did we end up with a daughter like you? You schemed against us! We're your parents! If you don't pay us back, don't blame us for what happens next!""Is that so?" Olivia sneered. "Well, what are you going to do about it? Did I force you to hand over the three billion dollars? Why did you invest everything you had in Jebb Corporation?"You did all that so you could help Shannon get together with Caleb! You wanted your precious daughter to marry well. You were hoping to use Jebb Corporation's resources to get ahead overnight!"Now that your gamble didn't pay off and you ended up losing everything, you want to blame it on me?"Olivia stared at Gerald and Vivian, who had gone deathly pale. Her voice turned even colder. "At the end of the day, you brought this on yourselves. It's got nothing to do with me. If you keep harassing me, I'll call the cops on you."Gerald and Vivian exchanged glances

The anger in Caleb's eyes faded, and all that was left was emptiness and disbelief. "Olivia, you're with another guy now? Then what am I to you now? What did our relationship even mean to you?""It was a mistake." The moment Olivia said that, Caleb felt all his strength leave his body, and he staggered backward. Olivia swept her gaze over Caleb before looking away. Without looking back at him, she instinctively reached for Trevor's hand. "Let's go.""Alright." Trevor wrapped his arm around her shoulders and turned to leave. Caleb was the only one left standing there, watching Olivia and Trevor disappear into the distance. The night breeze swept through the lavender fields, making a mess of his dark hair and leaving him chilled to the bone. He finally realized that Olivia really didn't love him anymore.Or perhaps she hadn't loved him for a long time. Caleb was the only one stuck in the past, unwilling to accept the truth and living in denial.…Trevor drove steadily al

Olivia and Trevor turned to look at Caleb at the same time. No emotion flickered in her eyes. She looked at him as if he were just a stranger. Caleb immediately strode toward them. Seeing her in someone else's arms was driving him crazy. His voice came out hoarse and strained. "Olivia, come with me."He fixed his gaze on her. "I've thought it over. I think… I've fallen for you. Let's get married again. We'll start over. We can live together like a normal married couple and enjoy life together. What do you think?"As soon as those words left his mouth, a faint, mocking smile tugged at the corners of Olivia's lips. "I'm sorry, Mr. Jebb. Your love means nothing to me."Olivia watched his face grow paler, yet she remained unfazed. Instead, she seemed almost delighted. "I'll be honest. The worse off you are, the happier I am."Caleb jolted, as if something had struck him deep in the chest, making it hard for him to breathe. He looked at Olivia in disbelief, his eyes bloodshot.

Caleb couldn't take it anymore and turned to leave. "Where are you going?" Shannon anxiously grabbed his arm to stop him, but he shook her off, causing her to fall to the floor. "Ah!" Shannon yelped in pain, tears instantly welling in her eyes. But Caleb didn't even seem to notice as he swiftly left his office. He pulled out his phone and opened his contacts. Olivia's name seemed to jump out at him from the screen. He quickly gave her a call. A cold, automated voice came through the phone. "The number you have dialed is currently busy and cannot be reached."After a few beeps, the call disconnected.Caleb froze for a moment before sending her a message. Then he immediately realized that he had been blocked. Olivia had cut him off without hesitation, leaving him no way to get through to her. Caleb's heart sank. The moment their lips touched, Caleb's eyes turned red. His chest heaved as he asked in a low voice, "Why do you get to just walk away? Why do you get to leave just like that? Why did you leave me here to suffer alone? Come back… "Come back. Do you hear me? Keep fighting with me. I want you to keep arguing with me. Just stay with me…""You can't leave. Not without my permission…" Caleb muttered over and over again, his hot breath spilling over the woman's lips. Caleb tightened his arms around her, as if he wanted to make sure she could never escape him. There was something obsessive, almost deranged about it."Olivia… Come back to me…"The woman in his arms clearly froze when she heard that name, her voice full of disbelief. "Caleb, look at me. Do you even know who I am?"Caleb suddenly snapped back to reality. That wasn't Olivia's voice. The drunken haze in his mind began to clear. The moment his vision finally focused, he realized the woman standing in front of him wasn
