Chapter 3482 The Northborn Group's CEO

Author: Five Generals
With heels clacking and a branded purse hanging in her hand, Katie walked toward her daughter.

When she saw the man beside Leah, a hint of displeasure rose from her heart.

Then, she noticed Peter and a sense of familiarity rose to her mind. On second thought, she seemed to have met Peter before.

“Peter? What are you doing here? Here to pick someone up?”

A smile appeared on Katie’s face when she spoke to Peter.

Leah initially wanted to introduce Kaze to her mother and tell her how he had helped her before.

However, her mother did not even look at her or Kaze and went straight to Peter to greet him.

Once again, she was ignored by her mother and it upset her. Unfortunately, she could not do anything to change it because she knew it was her mother’s job.

She knew from a young age to never interrupt her mother during work or else she would be beaten.

Kaze had heard a lot about Katie from Leah. The girl complained to him how unfair her workaholic mother was, yet when he saw

“I’m quite busy lately but we are going to host a banquet soon. I’ll make sure the invitation reaches you and Mr. Longwind.” Katie revealed a little bit of her upcoming plan to Peter since he was Alfonso’s man. Peter was delighted by the response. “Madam, I wouldn’t want to take up any more of your time. I’ll be waiting for my guest here.” Peter saw the look in Kaze’s eyes and knew better than to reveal his identity, so he simply said he was still waiting for his guest. Katie then turned to her daughter. She had no idea what had happened earlier. The only thing she noticed was a car speeding off in her direction when she arrived. “What happened just now?” The smile on Katie’s face disappeared when she spoke to her daughter and her tone sounded strict. “You really don’t care about me, don't you? I almost got into a fight with someone.” Leah looked aggrieved. Despite her mother’s tone, she was intoxicated by the feeling of love and care. She loved being with her mothe

“Mom, what are you doing? He’s not asking for money.” Leah felt insulted and she knew her mother did it on purpose. “He didn’t say anything, so how would you know?” Katie said as she scrutinized Kaze. Peter saw the scene from the side and wanted to help but knowing Katie’s identity, he dared not interfere to offend her, so he simply stood still like a rock. “If not for Kaze, I wouldn’t even get out of trouble. Perry even sent his men after me.” Leah then told her mother what actually happened before she arrived. She told her mother the truth because she wanted her mother to know that she was almost hurt. “Thank you, Peter.” Learning that Peter had helped earlier, Katie furthermore believed Kaze had nothing to do with the matter. Peter knew her and her status well and was likely familiar with her daughter. Helping the girl should have been a gesture of respect toward her. Kaze did not say anything from the start, and it made Katie believe that he harbored ulterior mo

“Since you refused, then consider the reward forfeited. Stay away from my daughter and don’t let me see you again,” Katie said to Kaze, her words serving as a warning. Her eyes brimmed with clear wariness and disdain. Leah felt a surge of embarrassment at her mother’s reaction. “Why won’t you listen to me? Kaze really helped me! If it weren’t for him, I might have been beaten up!” She continued to argue in defense of Kaze. She felt that her mother was being unreasonable. “Open your eyes and see clearly whether he helped you out of goodwill or he has something else in mind.” Katie wanted her daughter to open her eyes and not be swept away by a moment of gratitude. Not everyone who offered help did so out of goodwill. In modern society, people worked hard just to make ends meet. Why would a stranger help another without expecting anything in return? It was every man for himself. One’s personal benefits and goals trumped others. “Madam, I really don’t expect anything. I’

Katie glared at Kaze, shifting all the blame onto him. “What does he have to do with this? It was you who made me follow your orders. You were the one who interfered with my life!” Leah did not want to lash out at her mother, but the more her mother denied her, the stronger her urge to rebel became. If she continued to be a timid girl who unconditionally accepted her mother’s orders, her life would be completely in her mother’s grasp, like a puppet to a puppeteer. “Stay away from my daughter! If I catch you seeing her, I will make you regret it!” Katie had had enough of her daughter’s defiance. She dragged her daughter by the arm to her car. She resented Kaze even more for influencing her daughter. If not for him, Leah would never have defied her in public. Leah tried to break free from her mother’s restraints. She turned to Kaze, looking at him helplessly. Suddenly, she felt like a joke—a jester whose performance was being cut short before its time. Once again, she t

Peter, in the driver’s seat, would peek at the rear mirror to catch glimpses of the rear. Kaze leaned back on the seat comfortably but his eyes were looking outside the window. There was a veil of mystery over him, preventing Peter from reading his expression. Peter was merely following orders to pick Kaze up, but arriving late left him feeling uneasy. He might be serving Alfonso as an aide but he rarely had the chance to meet prominent figures. He had followed Alfonso to a few banquets before and met quite a few people, but none of them were like Kaze. Kaze had a calm and mature demeanor. There was something strange about him—his presence felt oddly assuring, yet his gaze felt sharp and intimidating. “Mr. Lee, do you have any plans here in Butterworth? Do you need me to arrange something for you?” Peter carefully asked. Not knowing Kaze’s identity made it difficult for him to act. “Nothing in particular. You don’t need to do anything for me,” Kaze simply replied. Pet

“The person that Snow sent is on his way.” Standing beside Jet was his assistant in a black suit, Aloysius, briefing him on the situation. He had just received an update from his men a few minutes ago. Snow would not appear in Butterworth for the time being. Her mother’s condition was worsening, and although she was taken back, she might not make it. Curing the poison in May’s body was a difficult task. “Who is this person?” This time, Jet was being more cautious. He wanted to learn more about this person’s background before making a move. His previous impulsive actions had already cost him dearly. “This person seems to be Snow’s boss in Lilyrose, but he was kicked out by Perfect World Group and is no longer the chairman. He’s just a jobless wanderer.” Aloysius’ understanding of the matter was limited but it was enough for the moment. Jet had been worried at first, but it seemed his concerns were unnecessary. “Snow has only the face and not the brain. She’s gullibl

“This is rather tricky. We can’t afford to make a scene. We also cannot openly search for people, but if Jet asks for it, I must do it, and it must be perfect…” As Jet’s assistant, Aloysius knew his boss’ temper and habits well. Once the order was given, it must be carried out perfectly. Then, Aloysius thought of a potential candidate who could help. This potential candidate might not be the most powerful but he had resources and manpower. More importantly, he was not as close to the Frost family as the others. Even if the task failed, the Frost family could walk away easily. Aloysius made the call to the person he had in mind and stated his proposal. The person on the other end of the phone agreed to help without any hesitation. Aloysius even revealed Kaze’s location to the man in order to hasten the process. “Just intercept him and you’ll know what to do. Be quick and clean. Remember to take him in,” he said through the phone. The man on the other end of the phone

“Just make sure he doesn’t die. But we can’t leave any traces behind, so try to be swift and clean.” Otto was nervous as well due to the lack of information but he knew how he must act. “Okay, guys. Be ready. When I give you the signal, do your thing. Intimidate that guy and then take them away,” he said as he stared into the distance. The wait grew longer. The cigarette hanging from his mouth started to burn out and the ground in front of him was covered with a small pile of ashes. Even his men on both sides of the road started to chat while looking out for the target. Just when their patience ran low, a black Maybach came into sight. The car caught their attention, especially the number plate. Otto and his men knew that their target had arrived. “Lay low and pretend that our van broke down,” Otto said to his men. He did not want to let the target slip away. “Don’t worry, Boss. We got this.” A few of them, in work uniforms, walked over to the van in the middle of t

Morris was in his study, wiping a plaque of commandments that was covered in dust. Due to his commitment to the Viper’s Den, he had neglected his family for years and left his son in his wife’s care. Morris regretted doing so. Unaware of the impending danger, Clemont enjoyed drinks with his friends. They were having fun, playing drinking games. Losing the game, Clemont downed a glass of liquor. Things could get far and exciting in a game. It was then that the door swung open. Clemont’s driver entered the room. “Young Master Siegfried, the master is waiting for you at home,” the driver said, noting the complexity of the situation. The only thing on his mind was to take Clemont away. Tipsy from the drinks, Clemont waved his arm. “Let him wait. What’s the rush to get home?” Clemont’s friends were shocked. Nothing scared Clemont like his father. However, Clemont toughened up for once. “Young Master Siegfried, why don’t you call it a night?” “Yeah. I’m sur

“What’s that supposed to mean? When have I ever made a mistake?” Morris heard nothing of that sort. It could only mean that his people had done nothing wrong. However, Edmund could not possibly get aggressive on the phone. Something must have happened, and he simply had no idea. Morris felt unsettled like something big was about to happen. “You seem to be lax when managing your people. You don’t seem to know what goes on around your house.“Is your age getting to you? Is that why you can’t handle most of the work? If you can’t get your own house in order, how will you ever manage the Viper’s Den Westeros Branch?” Edmund called to say his piece. It was his way to make Morris step down. Though it was likely that Morris would resign, Edmund could at least make things unpleasant for him. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Morris was completely in the dark, but Edmund must hold some secret to act so cocky. Despite his troubled feelings, Morris kept his cool and calmly aske

Since it was a rare opportunity, Edmund had to settle the score with them properly. He knew opportunities like this were hard to come by so he had to seize them well. “I understand. I will take care of the guest,” Rosie said. She was glad that her information was useful to her boss. After Edmund hung up the phone, Rosie then looked at the unconscious Kaze. “You are indeed more useful than I thought. Hardly anyone has ever managed to impress Edmund.” She did not feel sorry for Kaze, believing that everything happened as it was meant to. She knew that to climb higher, she had to please her superior. With the Wittersons on the rise, now was the perfect time for her to pledge her loyalty to Edmund. When the Wittersons truly took over the Westeros Branch, she would become one of the most powerful people in the city, second only to them. She was looking forward to that day. Since Kaze was fast asleep and no arrangements could be made, Rosie went out to call her men and

“If you are not here to have fun, then why did you come to Westeros?” Rosie asked. Kaze looked like he had one glass too many and could barely keep himself awake. When he looked up at Rosie, he felt lightheaded and could not keep his balance. “I am here to c-complete my mission.” Kaze could not even speak clearly, seemingly already drunk. Rosie let out a breath of relief. She then took his glass away. Kaze fell onto the couch lazily and adjusted himself into a comfortable position. He even had a hiccup. Rosie did not mind Kaze passing out in front of her. She got up and then squatted in front of him. “What is your mission here in Westeros?” She did not expect to fish out useful information from Kaze, but now she could bring this information to Edmund and exchange it for a reward. “I am here to solve the problem. Something happened here in the Viper’s Den and I am here to find out more. After that, someone else will take over,” Kaze muttered as he closed his eyes.

Rosie’s charm and beauty were reasons why she was able to run the club smoothly. No matter what happened, she possessed the capabilities to solve it without exacerbating it. All those aspects made Edmund choose her. A qualified employee trusted to run a business did not need to be a genius. One only needed to carefully operate the business and not cause trouble for the employer. That alone would be enough. “There’s indeed someone powerful who gave me a chance but I want to use my own strength to win their recognition.” Rosie was well aware that due to her beauty, many often looked down and underestimated her. She had to stay sharp and clear-headed to avoid unnecessary trouble. “That might be a little difficult but I believe you got what it takes,” Kaze said with a serious tone as if he knew Rosie well. “Thank you for your kind words. I hope everything turns out as expected.” She did not have to worry about that because Edmund fully trusted her and put her in charge of m

Clemont let out a breath of relief when he saw that his friends were not saying anything more. He brought them somewhere else to party. He spent a lot in a single night but he finally gained the respect that he longed for. Back at the club, after Clemont and his friends left, the corridor to the VIP section finally quieted down. The waiters cleaned up the place and then returned to their work. Kaze stayed back and looked at Rosie, waiting for her response. “Thank you for today. I would be hurt if not for you,” she said, expressing her gratitude. She was surprised that Kaze intervened but she was truly grateful for his help. “It’s nothing.” Kaze waved his hand nonchalantly and then wanted to return to his own room. “Why don’t I take care of the bill for you tonight? Consider it as a token of gratitude since you saved me from getting hurt,” Rosie said. Her interest in Kaze was piqued, wondering who he really was. She knew he was from Butterworth and had heard that

Clemont was born with a silver spoon and raised like a prince as he was the youngest in the family. He knew his father’s current situation, which explained why he behaved arrogantly. He thought his actions could help his father but little did he know, they were causing a huge trouble. Kaze made it verbal but the spoiled brat did not appreciate the warning and simply felt annoyed. “What do I mean? I guess you have to ask your father about it.” Kaze looked at Clemont coldly. There was no way a useless trust-fund baby could achieve anything great under the protection of his family. Every action that Clemont took was causing damage to his family. Kaze initially intended to use the Siegfrieds to his advantage, which explained why he did not act immediately. Now that Clemont had come under his radar, Kaze ought to use the chance. He managed to showcase his strength to Rosie earlier and what he said to Clemont would surely raise more suspicion in her. Kaze must come up wit

Rosie was shocked. She almost got kicked by some spoiled brat. She was not happy about it. She revered Clemont’s background and had been tolerant with the brat but he stepped over the line when he decided to be physical. Rosie looked up to Kaze who was hugging her. He was just outside the crowd and decided to step in when he heard the commotion. She did not expect him to save her. It was a surprise but it allowed her to see his capabilities. The man from Butterworth had been hiding his abilities from everyone all along. Rosie smiled at him before getting back up on her feet. “Thank you for your help,” she said softly. “It’s nothing. It’s the right thing to do,” Kaze said. Kaze was the type of person who could never stand seeing the weak being bullied. “Who the hell are you? What do you think you are doing?” Clemont bellowed. He was outraged and needed to vent his emotions. Since Kaze had intervened, it gave Clemont a chance to lash out at him. “Stop causing a

“I told you this is my club! They have to listen to me! Now open the damn door!” Clemont was furious after being questioned. He started to kick the door like a madman. The waiters were worried but they dared not do anything. “Young Master Siegfried, there are guests inside! VIP guests!” the waiter added. He dared not reveal the identity of the guest inside. Zidane informed all employees earlier that no one shall reveal the VIP guest’s identity or even mention that the suite was booked by Edmund. It was to keep things low. Therefore, the waiter dared not speak any of it even to Clemont. Unfortunately, Clemont stubbornly believed the waiter was lying to him. “What guests?! You’re lying to me! You said there were guests inside but even after I kicked the door, there was no answer! Open it up. Don’t be stupid!” he shouted. He cared not about the others when he shouted. He was impulsive at nature. “Young Master Siegfried, there are guests inside. You can’t do this,” the
