Chapter 4658 Turned Away

Author: Five Generals
“What’s the name of your company?” the receptionist asked while on the phone.

“We are from Quintessential Group’s branch office. We’ve worked with Mr. Hark before. Can you let him know that Ms. Quint would like to see him?” Luca replied with a smile.

Darcy stood in the lobby and observed her surroundings.

The office building was in a prime location right in the heart of the city.

It took a certain type of capacity to open a company in the area, and it spoke volumes about its connections.

Darcy looked for a spot to sit down while waiting for a response.

Luca watched cheerfully as the receptionist communicated with management.

The receptionist kept a smile on her face throughout.

Once the call was over, she turned to Luca with a practiced grin.

“I’m sorry, but Mr. Hark isn’t at work today. His secretary will be down in a minute to talk to you.”

The receptionist conveyed the message. Everything else hinged on the situation at hand.

Since Russell was not at work, Darcy

“The woman is pretty. She dressed rather provocatively. She doesn’t seem like a respectable woman.” “I know, right? She has the man wrapped around her little finger for sure.” Several members of the public made comments without knowing the truth. They only believed what they saw. Kaze furrowed his brows unhappily. The restaurant was poorly managed. No one came to intervene when there was trouble. The drama was blown out of proportion. Kaze did not want to get involved because it was unnecessary. Darcy was clear-headed and independent. She could handle her own problems without relying on anyone else. She rose above the occasion, staying grounded throughout without falling for Julian’s scheme. One server realized that the situation was getting out of hand. Bracing himself, he tried to step in. “Ma’am, sirs, can you take this somewhere private? Please don’t be a nuisance to other customers.” The server did not have the specifics of the situation. However, the commotio

Kaze knew Darcy best. She would not take the character assassination without cause. “I’m happy to take responsibility. I just hope you will change your mind and come back to me. Just consider your options. You don’t want to marry this pretty boy. He has nothing. “As you can see, I can give you the life you long for. He can’t sustain your lifestyle. Why don’t you just pick me?” Julian said boldly. Darcy might believe him if she did not know him. She was in a helpless situation. However, she was not going to be slandered. “Mr. Hanberg, I thought you had some respect, but I guess you have no shame.” Darcy thought that the whole thing would be over before she knew it. However, Julian was imprudent to make such statements. It was baffling. “I’m serious. Just say the word, and I’ll be right there waiting for you.” Julian humbled himself, trying hard to win Darcy over. Success mattered more than pride at this point. He could wear the shame for now, but later, he would make sur

The incident was completely unexpected. Kaze did not think he would run into Darcy and Julian. He was shocked to see Darcy running away in a panic. Thankfully, he was there to help her, so nothing bad would happen. Julian sure was cocky to mislead the crowd. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you turning on me? We were talking about marriage a second ago. Don’t tell me you’re into this pretty boy now.” As things were not working out, Julian resorted to slander. It was just talk. He had nothing to lose. Since he was not good enough for Darcy, he was better off ruining her. He would be sure that she would not survive in the city. Julian was never a kind soul, so he would latch onto every opportunity that came his way. If Darcy proved to be useful, he would be kind enough to suck up to her. Once Darcy lost her value, Julian could just destroy her and make her pay dearly. There would not be a place for her on this earth. Julian thought that it would not take long to p

“I’m sorry, Mr. Hanberg. I had no idea about today. I think I should leave. I’ll pick up the tab for dinner.” Darcy got up to leave. Since she had made her stance clear, there was no need for her to linger. That was on Julian, whether or not he listened. “Don’t be so quick to leave. Have a seat. Let’s talk about the wedding.” With Darcy excusing herself, Julian grabbed her hand. Darcy felt goosebumps when Julian took hold of her wrist. She tried to break free, but he was too strong for her. He simply would not budge. “I’ve made myself clear enough. We’re not going to happen. I don’t intend to marry you.” Darcy did not want to get involved with the man. The only thought on her mind was to stay away from him. Though Agnes talked about Julian’s family wealth, it never occurred to Darcy to marry him. She wanted nothing to do with him. Darcy was not a materialistic person. If she genuinely loved someone, she could not care about his family wealth or social standing. All sh

“What’s the meaning of this, Mr. Hanberg?” Darcy was not going to tear away the veil, nor did she wish to have anything to do with Julian. Julian did not share her sentiment, though. He wanted to lay everything out. If she was not keen, they could just keep their distance. “Don’t you get it? Your mother called me over to set us up on a blind date. I think you’re lovely, and I’m interested. We can see how it goes,” Julian said confidently, thinking that Darcy would not reject him so long as he was on board. Darcy had no reason to turn him down. If it were not for the fact that Darcy came from a decent family, Julian would not even consider her or give her the opportunity to get close. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know my mother had this in mind. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even be here in the first place. She has done it this time,” Darcy said, not wanting to give Julian the wrong idea. She had no idea that she was on a blind date. It was fair to let Julian know that Agnes had put the m

“I’m happy that you think that way. Don’t worry. I’ll talk to my daughter, but the rest is in your hands,” Agnes said gravely. Agnes was pleased with Julian because of his family assets. In other words, Julian had the means and connections to help her daughter.“I get what you mean. Relax. I won’t let you down. I will persuade Darcy.” Julian would not pass up a woman who was practically offered to him. Plus, her family was high in social standing, so he would not miss the chance. However, his priority was to get through to Darcy. If he could, his plan might succeed, and he had nothing to lose. It was a great thing for him, something worth pursuing. “Alright. Come on. I’ll introduce you two,” Agnes said in joy. She could not wait to bring Julian inside. Darcy handed the menu to the server. She had already ordered the food. Though she did not know how many guests to expect, she ordered a lot to make sure her mother would not be embarrassed. After placing the order, Darcy
