CHAPTER 37

SAMANTHA'S POV

I allowed George to walk me home but all I could actually think about was my home and what had become of it. I had no idea when we arrived as I kept spacing out. However, true to his words, George had not said a single word to me as we walked home and I appreciated the silence. We got to my lawn and I needed to stop him right there as I suddenly stood still not knowing actually what I was going to tell him right now. I turned to look at him as he flashed me a smile reassuringly.

"We're here." He said to me,

"Yes. We are here." I said without emotion.

"Guess I would be seeing you around?" He asked, scratching his hair nervously.

"Perish that idea because I guess not. Goodnight, George." I said as I turned away to the walkway.

"Goodnight, Sam. I'll see you around regardless." He called after me.

"That would never happen." I stated vehemently.

"Never say never." He said and I continued walking away.
